Paige comes to her Whitelighter powers. ========================== CHARMED 7X18: LITTLE BOX OF HORRORS ========================== FADE IN. [TRIQUETRA] PAIGE MCGOWAN: (v.o.) Previously on "Charmed" ... [Scenes from 7X17: Scry Hard] [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - STUDY -- DAY] (Piper talks with Paige.) PIPER: Leo and I are just having a little trouble adjusting to him being human again. PAIGE: Well, you're also going to have to adjust to the fact that he can't heal us anymore. PIPER: And I don't want to keep forcing Wyatt to tap into his powers before he's ready. [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (Leo talks with Piper.) LEO: I can't orb. I can't go to the Elders for information. I guess I didn't expect 'normal' to be so hard. TRIQUETRA FLASH TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - STUDY -- DAY] (Paige is supposed to be working on scheduling classes; however, she's bored and unable to focus on the task as she swivels around and around in her chair.) PAIGE: (v.o.) When I took this job, I had no idea just how much work it would be. [Scene from 7X15: Show Ghouls] [INT. P-3 -- NIGHT] (Paige talks with Phoebe.) PAIGE: Kind of miss being out there in the real world, you know? PHOEBE: Maybe you should do something about that. [Scene from 7X17: Scry Hard] [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- DAY] (Piper shows Leo the Great Hall.) LEO: What, you want me to clean magic school? PHOEBE: (o.s.) No. (Phoebe and Paige step up to them.) PHOEBE: We want you to run it. LEO: I'd be honored. PAIGE: (excited) I'm good. (Paige orbs out.) FADE TO END OF PREVIOUSLY ON FADE IN. [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - SUNRISE] (Time lapse. The sun rises over San Francisco.) [EXT. ALLEYWAY - MORNING] (Time lapse. As the sun rises above the empty alleyway, shadows move across the ground.) CUT TO: (Nina runs into the alley, breathing heavily from the exertion. She's carrying a small black box in her hand. She glances quickly behind her before continuing into the alleyway.) (She walks into the alley and sighs, clutching the black box to her chest.) (Suddenly from out of camera frame, a booted foot kicks Nina in the face. We see Nina's necklace fall and hit the ground. Nina goes tumbling, hitting the ground with a thud, the small black box wretched free from her grip, sliding to a stop a distance away from her.) (Nina groans as she gets up.) (The demon Katya lands on her feet behind her. KATYA: It's Nina, right? NINA: You'll never get it. I won't let you. KATYA: I didn't ask for your permission. (Nina gets to her feet and faces Katya. The camera lingers on the small black box on the ground nearby.) (Katya chuckles. She advances slowly on Nina who takes a step backward.) KATYA: It's only a matter of time, you know, before I get the box. NINA: Over my dead body. KATYA: That's the thing with you Guardians. You're always dying for that damn box. NINA: Not always. (Suddenly, Nina's hands glows as she blasts Katya telekinetically. Katya flies backward, but catches herself before hitting the wire fence behind her.) (Katya hovers and lands gently on her feet.) (As she stands up straight, Katya takes out a dagger in her left hand from the holder in her pants.) KATYA: Oh, come on, you can do better than that. (With her right hand behind her, Katya takes out a second dagger hidden behind her back. She turns and throws the dagger at Nina who dodges backward and catches the dagger mid-flight.) (She glares at Katya who smirks back at her.) (Each armed, Katya and Nina fight. Katya jumps over Nina. They both take up a fighting stance. Katya swings the dagger in wide arcs as she steps toward Nina. Nina moves and blocks Katya's jab at her, the metal daggers clinking.) (Nina pulls the dagger back and kicks Katya in the face. She jabs the dagger at Katya. Katya moves aside and grabs Nina's hand, jabbing the dagger at Nina.) (Katya and Nina grab each other, the daggers disappearing between them. We hear the sound of a metal dagger sinking into flesh, but we don't know who. Both stand incredibly still, clutching the other.) (Nina pauses and looks up.) (Camera focuses on the little black box on the ground. A bright, white glow of light emits from the box completely obliterating it from sight.) (As the light dissipates, the box is gone.) CUE SOUND: (v.o.) HIGH-PITCHED WHINING CUT TO: [PAIGE] (Paige squints her eyes tightly as she holds her fingers to her ears trying to block out the sounds of the irritating high-pitched whine.) [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM -- DAY] (She opens her eyes.) PAIGE: Phoebe? PHOEBE: (o.s.) Coming! (Phoebe walks back into the living room carrying a cup. She heads over to Paige.) PHOEBE: Coming. I used castor root this time. It should dull all the senses. (The high-pitched whine fades out.) PAIGE: I don't care. Just give it to me. (Phoebe sits down and Paige takes the cup, drinking from it. Phoebe watches her expectantly.) PAIGE: Thank you. (Paige turns and sees Phoebe smiling at her.) PAIGE: Do you mind? PHOEBE: Do I mind what? (The high-pitched whine starts up again.) PAIGE: Looking so psychotically perky ... (The whining sound stops.) ... while I'm so miserable? (The whining sound starts up again. Paige grimaces and tries to ignore Phoebe as Phoebe ponders aloud.) PHOEBE: You know, maybe it's psychosomatic. I mean, the inner ear has to do with balance, so maybe you're feeling imbalance because the whole magic school thing. (The whining sound fades out. Paige stops. Phoebe stops waiting for Paige to respond to that theory. Paige looks at Phoebe.) PAIGE: Phoebe, come here. (Phoebe leans forward. Paige slaps Phoebe on her cheek.) PHOEBE: Ow! (Phoebe chuckles.) What was that for? PAIGE: Does that seem psychomatic to you? (They both turn when Wyatt orbs into the room in front of them. Wyatt's dressed in a bath robe looking rather guilty.) PHOEBE: Hey, big boy. I thought it was bath time. LEO: (o.s.) Uh, it is. (Leo walks into the room. He kneels down next to Wyatt.) LEO: (to Wyatt) Uh, hey, buddy. That was, uh, pretty funny, but I don't think mommy's going to think so. PHOEBE: What's going on? LEO: Uh, I think the terrible twos have begun. PHOEBE: Oh, well, magical boys will be magical boys. LEO: Yeah, well, try explaining that to his magical mama. (to Wyatt) Listen, I think you better orb back upstairs before mommy turns you into a toad. (Wyatt orbs out of the room. The high-pitched whining starts up again, this time with intermittent pounding in it. Paige groans in frustration.) PAIGE: Ow! (Leo turns and looks at them. Phoebe rubs Paige's arm in sympathy.) LEO: What's the matter? PHOEBE: She has a ringing in her ears. PAIGE: No. It's more like a jackhammer. LEO: Really? Is it kind of like a dentist's drill that kind of goes in and out? (The whining stops.) PAIGE: Yeah. PHOEBE: Why, you know what it is? LEO: Well, it could be your whitelighter powers coming on. (The whining starts up again. Leo kneels down in front of them.) LEO: You know, you could be hearing the call from the Elders. (The whining sounds stops.) Before I learned to control my powers, it used to drive me nuts. PAIGE: No. That's unacceptable. (The whining sound starts up again.) Ow. LEO: Okay. Well, you're half-whitelighter. (The sound stops.) You can't deny that. PAIGE: Yes, I can. I want nothing to do with the Elders, okay? LEO: All right, well, if it is what I think it is, you're not going to have a choice. The only way to find out is to actually talk to an Elder. (Paige rolls her eyes.) PHOEBE: Well, you can't bring one over here. Piper will freak out. LEO: All right, well, then maybe you should meet at Magic School. (Paige looks at Leo with exasperation.) Look, do you want it to stop or don't you? Come on. I'll go with you. (Leo holds out his hand. Paige grabs his hand and sighs.) (She orbs them out of the room.) (Phoebe grabs the cup off the table and gets up.) (She looks up and sees a flurry of something happening in front of her. Nina appears, gasping for breath.) PHOEBE: Who are you? "NINA": Please, you have to help me find it before it's too late. PHOEBE: Find what? "NINA": Pandora's box! (Camera holds on Phoebe.) FADE TO END OF TEASER ROLL TITLE CREDITS (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO SCENES (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY]] (Wyatt sits on the floor playing with his toys while Piper looks through the Book of Shadows.) PIPER: Well, I guess since Excalibur is real, I don't know why it'd be a surprise that Pandora's Box isn't as well. (Phoebe returns to the attic. She hands Nina a cup.) "NINA": Oh, thank you. PIPER: How did you know to come to us? "NINA": You're The Charmed Ones. (Nina dabs at the bruise on her chin with a tissue.) Everyone in the magical community knows about you. PIPER: Yeah. That's becoming a problem. (Suddenly, the Book of Shadows orbs out from under Piper's hands.) (It re-orbs into Wyatt's lap.) PIPER: Hey! (Piper turns and heads for Wyatt.) Um, mister? Excuse me. (Piper kneels down next to Wyatt.) Listen, what did I tell you about the orbing? Okay? Only when I say so. (Piper picks up the Book of Shadows and heads back to the bookstand.) PIPER: Thank you very much. PHOEBE: Piper, you can't deny who he is, through the good, the bad, and the annoying. PIPER: Ah, I see you've been talking to Leo, haven't you? (Piper drops the Book of Shadows onto the bookstand.) PHOEBE: Look, just because you guys have completely different parenting styles doesn't mean you can take it out on me. I'm just the sister. PIPER: And whose side are you on, exactly? (Phoebe chuckles. Nina moves to stand next to Piper.) "NINA": Back to the box? PIPER: Right. Okay. Let me guess. A demon took it. "NINA": No. But we better find the next Guardian before one does. PHOEBE: Guardian? "NINA": Like you, we're chosen beings, part of a magical lineage, one in which every generation a girl is born, meant to guard Pandora's Box. PIPER: Right, hence the name 'Guardian'. Got it. "NINA": Only, each girl is trained by the previous Guardian, instructed carefully about the dangers and powers of the box, except the next one hasn't been. PHOEBE: I'm not following. "NINA": When Katya the demon attacked me, the box, perhaps sensing the danger, disappeared on its own, moving on to its next Guardian. PIPER: And you don't know who that is. "NINA": No. I guess I wasn't expected to survive. PHOEBE: So, what does Katya want with the box? "NINA": She wants to open it and release the world's ills: Sorrow, famine, plagues, all the evil inside. PIPER: So, what's to keep the new Guardian from accidentally doing the same, especially if she doesn't know what's in the box? "NINA": Nothing. (Piper turns and looks at Phoebe.) CUT TO: [EXT. UC BERKELEY - CAMPUS (STOCK) -- DAY] [INT. UC BERKELEY - COLLEGE DORM - HALLWAY -- DAY] (Hope and Darcy walk through the hallway.) HOPE: Seriously, Darcy, it's all good. Stop stressing about him. DARCY: I know, but how can I not? We're supposed to have this big talk. I mean, what does that mean, anyway? I was stupid to fall for him. HOPE: Oh, come on, don't say that. I mean it. He's so not worth it. We got too much in life to be happy about than to let Adam Bice get you down. DARCY: You're right. HOPE: Mm-hmm. DARCY: As always. HOPE: Oh, not always. You should check my French Lit grades. DARCY: Ohh, that reminds me. (She looks at her phone.) Oh, I'm totally missing my chem lecture. I gotta go. (Darcy backs away as Hope waves to her.) HOPE: Ok. (Darcy takes several steps when her phone rings. She checks her caller ID, sees who is, turns and heads back to Hope.) DARCY: Wait! Oh, this is him. What do I do? HOPE: Just be strong. Don't let him get to you, no matter what he says. Call me later. (Darcy nods. Hope turns and heads for the dorm room while Darcy turns to answer her phone.) DARCY: (to phone) Hello? (Hope steps into her room.) [INT. U.C. BERKELEY - HOPE'S ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Hope closes the door and puts her books down. We hear whispering coming from the box. Hope looks at the box with curiosity. She heads over to the box.) (The whispering continues.) (Hope walks up to the box on the bed and kneels down to look at it. She touches the box lid cautiously. She picks up the box and opens the lid just a crack.) (An awful screeching starts and some black dust escapes from out of the box.) (Hope quickly shuts the lid and starts coughing. The black cloud rises up to the dorm room ceiling.) HOPE: What the heck? (The black cloud of dust turns and zooms out of the room escaping through the air vent over the door.) (The Box is back on the bed. Hope stares at the box, suddenly scared at what just happened.) (Camera lingers on the box.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- DAY] (Much to Paige's dismay, the high pitched whine continues. She's got her fingers in her ears and cringes at the sound. She takes a deep breath and sighs.) (The whine fades out.) SANDRA: This is the global alert, Paige, one that only a whitelighter can hear. You should be looking at this as if it was a gift rather than a problem. (Paige turns around and glares at Sandra.) PAIGE: A problem, for me, is when Leo rearranges my books here. I would classify this as a root canal? (The whining sound starts up again.) SANDRA: Nevertheless, this is who you are, who you have become. PAIGE: Well, I don't want to become it, so fix it already! SANDRA: Fix it? LEO: Yeah, I don't think she wants to hear the call, ever. SANDRA: Well, that's impossible. She doesn't have a choice. It would be as if you wished to no longer breathe. (The high-pitch whining starts up again.) PAIGE: If this ringing doesn't stop, maybe I don't want to. Look, I just left magic school, okay? The last thing I want to deal with is you Elders. (The ringing stops.) SANDRA: I know, Paige, that in the past we have had our differences, but becoming a Whitelighter is as natural a part of your unfolding destiny as becoming a charmed one. LEO: Perhaps if you explained to her why you called the alert. SANDRA: We sensed a great threat, one which we have not yet been able to isolate. That is why we need every Whitelighter to be vigilant. (The ringing starts up again.) PAIGE: Well, not this whitelighter. Okay, just make it stop already (The ringing stops.) (Leo steps up closer to them.) LEO: You know, maybe if Paige ... helped a whitelighter-to-be instead? (The ringing starts and stops.) SANDRA: That's a possibility. PAIGE: Why? What would that do? SANDRA: Helping others helps yourself ... to find some clarity. (Paige winces as the whining starts up again.) PAIGE: Well, if clarity ... makes this noise stop, whatever. I'll try it. (Sandra turns and smiles at Leo.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (Piper, Phoebe and Nina stand around the table as Piper scries.) PHOEBE: Come on, come on. What's taking so long? PIPER: Relax, or I'll give you a time-out. "NINA": Here. Maybe this'll help. (Nina removes her necklace and gives it to Piper. Piper holds on to it and continues to scry.) (We hear the sound of orbing. Suddenly, an alphabet block is orbed as it falls from the ceiling and down onto the middle of the scrying table. It hits Piper's scrying crystal causing Piper to drop the crystal on the map.) PIPER: Wyatt! Time-out means no magic! PHOEBE: Scry now, parent later. PIPER: Well, you know, it would help if I wasn't the only one around here who had to discipline him. (Phoebe picks up the scrying crystal and necklace.) PHOEBE: Let me do this. "NINA": Please, we have to hurry. If the box has been opened or if a demon's found it - PHOEBE: We won't let that happen. I promise. Look, we do this all the time. (Phoebe starts to scry.) PIPER: Maybe we need a stronger connection. "NINA": I don't know what else to try. (Suddenly, the scrying crystal hits the map.) PHOEBE: Uhp! (They all look at the map.) PIPER: U.C. Berkeley. It's on the campus. (Nina looks at Piper and Phoebe. She quickly heads for the door.) PIPER: Whoa! Where are you going? "NINA": You've done your jobs. Now I have to go do mine. PIPER: Wait, you saw where that got you last time. Why don't you let us go with you? "NINA": I can't let you risk it. PIPER: Well, we can't let you risk it, either, not as long as there's a demon after that box. (Nina sighs.) "NINA": All right, but I'll transport us there. It'll be faster. (Piper heads over to Nina.) PHOEBE: What about the Elders? PIPER: What about them? PHOEBE: Well, I mean, it's Pandora's Box. We should probably tell them something. PIPER: All right, you tell them. Mommy needs a time-out. (Nina puts her hands on Piper's shoulder and leaves with a flutter of particles.) CUT TO: [EXT. UC BERKELEY - DORM BUILDING (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. UC BERKELEY - COLLEGE DORM - HALLWAY -- DAY] (Off screen, a boy and a girl argue. Piper walks the hallway with Nina.) GIRL: (o.s.) You can't do this to me. It's not fair! PIPER: What's going on around here? Something's not right. "NINA": She must've opened the box. It's the first wave of sorrow. (In the lobby area, a boy and a girl are crying. The arguing voices off screen continue.) (Nina turns and looks at Piper.) "NINA": We have to hurry ... before you become affected, too. (Nina walks up to a closed door labeled "EMPLOYEES ONLY" and with a smaller sign, 'No Soliciting'. Nina runs her hand lightly over the framed photo on the door just above the half-bulletin, half-white board with some messages and a message to 'Hope' writing on it.) HOPE: (muffled through door) No, Darcy, we talked about this! (Nina turns and looks at Piper.) "NINA": In there. [INT. U.C. BERKELEY - HOPE'S ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Hope is on the phone with Darcy.) HOPE: (to phone) He's not worth it! (There's knocking on the door.) HOPE: (to door) Uh, just a minute! (to phone) Don't do anything stupid, okay? Promise? I'll be right there. (The knocking continues.) HOPE: (to phone) Okay. Okay! (Hope hangs up the phone and grabs her bag off the bed. She answers the phone and finds Piper and Nina there.) HOPE: (puzzled) Can I help you? PIPER: Hi! My name is Piper, and this is -- this is Nina, and we wanted to talk to you about something you ... "received," I guess, would be a good word for it. HOPE: Uh, look, whatever you're selling, I'm not interested. My friend's in trouble and if I don't -- "NINA": You have come into possession of something more powerful than anything you have ever known. PIPER: Yeah, okay, see, I was going to go with the less intimidating tactic, but -- HOPE: What are you talking about? "NINA": The box. Where is it? HOPE: Uh ... (Hope turns and looks behind her. The box is still on the bed.) (Nina pushes past Piper and steps into the room. Hope follows her inside. Piper closes the door behind her.) (Nine walks over to the bed and picks up the box. She looks at Hope.) "NINA": How did it come to you? HOPE: I don't know. It was just there. What is going on? What is the - PIPER: You haven't by any chance been taking some greek mythology classes, have ya? "NINA": Pandora's box, a gift the gods gave to Prometheus, one that contained all of the evils of the world, until Pandora unleashed it on an unsuspecting people. ("Nina" turns and looks at Piper and Hope. Her glare is cold.) "NINA" (in KATYA'S VOICE): I hope to do the same. (Piper realizes that she's the demon.) PIPER: Aw, crap. ("Nina" morphs into Katya. Hope's jaw drops as she takes a step away from Katya.) PIPER: (murmuring) Oh, yeah, this is not good. This is not good at all. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (Sandra turns around and looks at Phoebe.) SANDRA: This explains the global alert. PHOEBE: Alert? What are you talking about? SANDRA: The one that Paige heard and every other whitelighter. Pandora's Box exists solely to tempt. It's part of the grand design. If mankind chooses to open it again, so be it, but Guardians are supposed to protect it from being opened by demons. PHOEBE: So, then we should be fine. Piper and Nina -- SANDRA: Nina never should've let it out of her sight. PHOEBE: Well, apparently, she didn't have a choice. Uh, the box moved on to its next Guardian by itself. SANDRA: Oh, that's not possible. It can't move on unless the prior Guardian was already dead. PHOEBE: Okay, you need to orb me to Piper immediately. CUT TO: [INT. U.C. BERKELEY - HOPE'S ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe orbs into the room. The room is a mess, lamps and furniture overturned.) PHOEBE: Piper? Where are you?! (Piper peers around an overturned desk near the window.) PHOEBE: (sighs) Oh, thank god you're okay. (Hope pops up next to Piper from behind the overturned couch.) PHOEBE: Who is she? PIPER: Meet Hope, the real Guardian of the box. Too bad she doesn't have anything left to guard. (Piper turns and looks at Hope.) (Camera holds on Phoebe.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. U.C. BERKELEY - HOPE'S ROOM - DAY] (Hope backs away from Piper and Phoebe.) HOPE: Who--who are you people? PHOEBE: Okay, Hope, can you just try to calm down a little bit? We're the good guys, I swear. HOPE: Oh, good guys. (She laughs weakly.) Oh, then what was she? PIPER: She was a - PHOEBE: A demon pretending to be ... PIPER: A guardian, just like you. PHOEBE: Yeah, uh, Nina's dead, by the way. PIPER: Yeah, I figured. Not now. HOPE: (to piper) You! You blew up my dorm ... with your hands!? PIPER: Yes, and I am very sorry about that. HOPE: Oh. Ha. Now you're both calm, like this kind of stuff happens every day! PIPER: Well, it kind of does. PHOEBE: You see, uh ... we're witches. HOPE: What? PIPER: We can explain all of this in great detail much later, but right now, we need to get you goin'. PHOEBE: And fast. I'm feeling a little ... PIPER: Bummed? Yeah, I know. Nina, or Katya I'm assuming, said that it was the first wave of sorrow from the box. PHOEBE: Great, so like a little appetizer? And she's obviously immune to it, 'cause she seems more freaked than bummed. PIPER: Well, can you blame her? HOPE: What are you two talking about? (Piper smiles forcefully at her.) PIPER: We just need to know one thing that's ... kind of important. Did you open the box? HOPE: (shrugs) Only for a second. Some sort of dust came out, and then I shut it. PIPER: Well, from the sounds of the dorm out there, I'd say it was long enough. Shall we go? HOPE: Oh, I am not going anywhere with you people. You burst in here talking about Pandora's Box and guardians and witches and god knows what else. (Hope takes a step closer to the broken door.) Now you expect me to leave with you. (Phoebe steps toward Hope.) PHOEBE: Okay, look, I know exactly how you feel. When we first found out we were witches, it was really scary because, well, we didn't have anyone to guide us, but we can help you. You just have to come with us. CUT TO: [EXT. TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID BUILDING (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID - HALLWAY / ELEVATOR - DAY] (A father and his daughter, Wendy, stand in front of the elevator. The elevator bell dings and the doors open. Paige is in the elevator with a man and a woman.) (Wendy walks into the elevator.) FATHER: Are you sure you don't want me to go down there with you? WENDY: I'm fine, dad. FATHER: Now, remember, go straight to mommy, okay? She's waiting for you in the lobby. WENDY: Dad ... (The high-pitch whine starts up again. Paige tries to ignore it. The elevator doors start to close. A man in a business suit, Trey, comes running out from the hallway heading toward the elevator.) TREY: Hey, hold the doors! (The whining stops.) (Trey sticks his briefcase into the elevator stopping the doors form closing completely. He steps into the elevator.) TREY: Thanks a lot. (Trey reaches over and presses the elevator button. The high-pitched whine starts up again.) (Wendy looks at Paige.) WENDY: I saw you on my way up, like an hour ago. PAIGE: Yeah. I've been looking for someone. (The elevator rattles and the number panel fluctuates between 17 and 18.) (The elevator lights go off and on. The elevator jerks and rattles. Wendy and Paige grab each other.) LINDA: What's happening? (The elevator lights go out and it stops.) TREY: Oh, you've gotta be kidding me. (The lights go back on, but the elevator doesn't move. Linda turns and glares at Roger.) ROGER: What? You're going to blame me for this, too? LINDA: How dare you even imply that's part of my agenda? (Linda and Roger argue.) ROGER: I'm not having anything to do with your agenda. (muffled) LINDA: I'm just standing here! I had nothing to do with it. (Wendy clings to Paige.) WENDY: I'm scared. PAIGE: It's okay. (Paige stops an realizes something.) Oh, my god, the ringing stopped. That means ... (She looks at them. They stare back at her.) It's one of you. It - (uh, oh) (She stutters.) You - (She nods.) It stopped. CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - CAVE] (From the far end of the cave, the demon Lucius throws an energy ball at the small black box on the table.) LUCIUS: Unh! (The energy ball hits the box point blank, explodes and dissipates. The box is intact.) KATYA: If my powers couldn't open the box, what would make you think you could? LUCIUS: Hey, at least I didn't let the Guardian go. (Katya sighs as she looks at the box.) KATYA: There must be a way. LUCIUS: Well, at least now that we've got it, she can't put the sorrow she let out back in. KATYA: Yeah, but she didn't let out enough. Within lies the power to destroy cities, crumble empires, devastate all that is good in the world. LUCIUS: All this just to impress Zankou? Hey, just asking. KATYA: Oh, for too long I've had to watch lesser demons rewarded, been denied my proper place in the forefront. No. Zankou will no longer be able to deny me after this. LUCIUS: Why don't you just shape shift into a Guardian? KATYA: Mmm. Taking the physical form of a Guardian doesn't make me one. No. It will know. LUCIUS: Then what are you going to do? KATYA: I'll make her open it for me. (Lucius and Katya smile at each other.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY] (Piper and Leo walk back into the living room where Phoebe sits with Hope.) PIPER: There was nothing in the book on Katya, and scrying for the box did not work. PHOEBE: Well, maybe we should try magic school. HOPE: Wh -- wait. Magic school? What is that? LEO: It's a place where you can learn more about your gifts. HOPE: Are you a witch, too? PIPER: No, he's a -- he's -- he's a long story. LEO: One that worked out well. HOPE: This is all so complicated. PHOEBE: Look, I know this is really hard to understand, but this is what you're meant to do. HOPE: No. I'm meant to finish school, party, have fun. I don't even know if I believe in magic. (Wyatt orbs into the middle of the living room, his teddy bear clutched in his arms. Hope gasps and is startled by Wyatt's sudden appearance.) HOPE: Oh! Where did he come from? PIPER: Ah ... (She chuckles as she pulls Wyatt toward her.) Uh, sorry. He's not supposed to do that without permission. Don't scare the pretty girl, okay? (Leo kneels down next to Wyatt.) LEO: Okay, pal, listen, why don't you take Wubby upstairs for a little nap, 'kay? (Hope stands up.) HOPE: Oh! I'm getting out of here. (Phoebe stands up to stop her.) PHOEBE: Hope, wait. Look, there's nothing that I can say that's going to make this any better. HOPE: Can't you just make up a spell or something? PHOEBE: Sometimes I wish I could, but then I realize all of this, you know, the good and the bad, makes me who I am, you know? (Hope's cell phone rings.) HOPE: It's my friend Darcy. I have to help her. PIPER: You know, you could help a lot of people by finding that box. HOPE: You don't understand. She's like my sister. I have to go. (Hope heads for the door.) PHOEBE: Hope, wait. (Phoebe starts to follow her to stop her.) HOPE: No! (Hope turns around. Suddenly, a powerful telekinetic blast emits from her hands, hitting Phoebe square in the chest. Phoebe is pushed up and backward toward the wall.) HOPE: Ohh ... (More freaked than ever, Hope looks at her hands as she backs up.) HOPE: My god. (Leo goes over to help Phoebe.) LEO: Phoebe? (Hope runs out of the house.) PIPER: (drolly) Phoebe? You okay? (Phoebe stands up.) PHOEBE: God, aren't you tired of asking me that? PIPER: It does get a little repetitive. We've got to go get her. PHOEBE: It's okay. You can't force her to stay. Besides, she could obviously protect herself. PIPER: Well, what are we going to do? LEO: Well, you've got to get the box back before Katya opens it. CUT TO: [INT. TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID - ELEVATOR - DAY] (Linda is arguing with the voice on the other end of the elevator box.) LINDA: How are we supposed to stay calm? We're stuck! ROGER: Linda, please. (Trey loosens his tie, his jacket's been removed.) WOMAN: (voice box) Ma'am, all I can say is we're doing everything we can. LINDA: Well, it's not good enough. (Paige turns back to her phone conversation.) PAIGE: (to phone) No, I said I'm trapped. (Wendy watches her.) There's people all around. INTERCUT WITH: [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY - DAY] (Leo's on the phone with Paige.) LEO: What did you say? I can't hear you. PAIGE: I said, I'm trapped in an elevator. I can't just up and go. Besides, I don't want this ringing in my ears to come back. LEO: Wait, it stopped? When? PAIGE: Right when we got stuck. LEO: All right, then never mind. You need to stay there. PAIGE: No, wait, what about, uh -- LEO: No. Your sisters can handle it. To help, and that's what you need to do. PAIGE: Okay. Who am I supposed to help? (Leo's phone suddenly disconnects and he gets a dial tone. Leo pulls the phone away from his ear and looks at it.) PAIGE: (to phone) Leo! Leo? Ohh! Damn these phones. TREY: Yeah, mine's dead, too. (sighs) Looks like we're going to be here for a while, huh? (Linda and Roger stand side-by-side in the elevator. Linda tries the voice box again.) LINDA: Are you still there? Hello?! Answer me! ROGER: Honey, why don't you just let them do their job? LINDA: Don't "honey" me. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't even be here. ROGER: Oh, so now this is my fault? (They continue to argue. Trey rolls his eyes and heads over to Paige.) ROGER: You know, you were the one who wanted to go into counseling, not me. TREY: I think the natives are getting restless, huh? (Wendy huddles closer to Paige.) PAIGE: Hmm. Yeah. Looks like. TREY: So, what's your name? PAIGE: I'm Paige. (mutters) Please don't let this be the person I have to help. (Trey gives Paige a strange look and takes a step away from her.) TREY: Oh, all right. (Paige looks at Wendy.) PAIGE: It's kind of nuts we're being stuck here like this, right? (Linda stops talking to listen.) WENDY: I want my mommy. PAIGE: Oh, sweetheart, I know you do, but you know what? We're going to be just fine, I promise. WENDY: How do you know? PAIGE: Well, because I know things like that. (Trey looks at the elevator ceiling, looking for a way out. He rolls his eyes when he hears Paige's response.) (Wendy starts coughing.) PAIGE: Honey, y-you okay? WENDY: I have asthma. PAIGE: Fantastic. But I bet you have an inhaler in that pretty little purse of yours, right? WENDY: My mommy has it. PAIGE: Of course she does. (Trey starts climbing up the elevator to check the elevator roof.) PAIGE: What are you doing? TREY: I'm trying to get us the hell out of here. (He starts hitting the ceiling to see if it'll give way.) PAIGE: Brilliant idea. TREY: Well, at least it's an idea. ROGER: No, she's right, you know. You could get hurt. LINDA: At least he's doing something, Roger. (Taking offense, the two start to argue again.) ROGER: What is that supposed to mean? LINDA: You're acting like a little girl, Roger. (Wendy huddles closer to Paige as the two continue to argue.) ROGER: I am not acting like a little girl. LINDA: We're stuck in this elevator, and what are we supposed to do? Do you need your mother Roger? ROGER: Good luck. You'll have better luck with her, you know? CUT TO: [INT. U.C. BERKELEY - HOPE'S ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (The dorm room door opens and Hope bursts into the room.) HOPE: Okay, Darcy? I'm here. (The door closes behind her.) KATYA: Mm-hmm. (Katya closes the door while holding Darcy's cell phone.) KATYA: Wonderful devices these things. It makes luring someone into a trap so ... twenty-first century. HOPE: Where's Darcy? KATYA: Oh ... (Katya reaches out and plays with Hope's hair.) You'll see. (She puts a hand on Hope's shoulder and the two disappear in a flutter of particles.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- DAY] (Camera slowly pans on the stacks and stacks of books on the table in the Great Hall. The topmost books are open. At the end of the table, Piper goes through more books.) (Phoebe walks up to the table carrying an armload of scrolls.) PHOEBE: You'd think there'd be something about Pandora's Box in a place called Magic School. (Piper looks around the Hall.) PIPER: Leo's been reorganizing. (Phoebe opens a book.) PHOEBE: Well, maybe we should get him to help us. PIPER: No, he's busy. PHOEBE: Busy doing what? What could be more important than this? PIPER: Globally, nothing. Personally, I need him to wrangle Wyatt for a day so he can see what I'm talking about. PHOEBE: Piper, you know what Wyatt is going through is completely normal. PIPER: No, temper tantrums are normal. Uncontrollable crying is normal. Orbing all over town is not normal. PHOEBE: He's not orbing all over town. PIPER: Not yet. Look, it's not that I have a problem with him being magical, because if I did I would've bound his powers at birth. It's just that he needs to learn that he can't use his powers whenever he wants to, and Leo needs to understand that, too. PHOEBE: I think he does. I just think he deals with it differently. PIPER: Well, we'll see how Mr. Mom deals with it after he's been chasing around the kid now that Leo can't orb. PHOEBE: You guys will figure it out. PIPER: You know, you have been much more optimistic lately. PHOEBE: Yeah, I guess I have hope. I mean, we lost Hope the person, but I have, you know ... PIPER: (looking at a book) I got it. I found something. PHOEBE: About the box? PIPER: No, the demon. Nothing new. Says she's a shape-shifter. PHOEBE: Yeah, we found out about that the hard way. Won't happen again. PIPER: She used to work for Demonic Dark Lords, then she went rogue. How very enterprising of her. PHOEBE: She probably just wants to make a name for herself. PIPER: Why is it that every demon who is trying to make a name for themself has to go and try to end the world? PHOEBE: Why don't we ponder that fact while we scry for her? (Phoebe picks up the scrying crystal and moves over the map.) PIPER: Well, even if we find her, we have no way of getting there. We're short an orber. PHOEBE: Well, we'll have to come up with something. I mean, this place is called magic school for a reason, right? CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - CAVE] (Hope stares at the box on the table. Katys smiles at her, trying to charm her into opening the box.) KATYA: I won't hurt you, Hope. I promise. I know you're new to all this, and I know all this can be very scary. HOPE: Where's Darcy? She's not a part of this. KATYA: Isn't she? I mean, she's merely a pawn in all this. A pawn like you are. Whatever they told you, I know it was a lot to handle. You know, I've been told that I'm part of something. A greater purpose I think they called it. But you know what? It was all a lie. I mean, who the hell do they think they are, ruining your life like this, telling you that you're meant to watch after Pandora's Box? HOPE: I don't even know what it really is. KATYA: You shouldn't have to know. You didn't ask for this. You don't want it. It's unfair. HOPE: I just want my life back. KATYA: And I can help you get it back. All you have to do is help me. Open the box and you'll be free from it ... forever. HOPE: But won't that -- KATYA: End all this craziness? Well, that's what you want, isn't it? To go home ... with your friend? Go ahead. Open the box. (The box starts whispering. Katya steps away from Hope, her back to her. Hope reaches out and picks up the box as she makes her decision.) HOPE: No ... I can't. (Katya turns around.) HOPE: (firmly) I won't. KATYA: Fine. I tried asking you nicely. Now I'll have to make you do it. Lucius! (Lucius appears in the doorway holding Darcy who struggles in his arms.) DARCY: Aah! Aah! HOPE: Darcy? DARCY: (crying) I'm scared! (Lucius pulls Darcy back with him and they disappear down the hall.) DARCY: (crying) Aah! I'm scared! (Katya watches Hope.) HOPE: Don't hurt her. KATYA: You know what I want. (Hope looks at the box as it whispers to her.) CUT TO: [INT. TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID - ELEVATOR - DAY] (Trey is up on the elevator looking for a way out. Paige glares up at him.) PAIGE: What are you doing? Are you out of your mind? What if the elevator starts? TREY: Relax, sweetheart. I know what I'm doing. (We see that Trey has the side electrical panel open. Linda has gone back to the voice box while Roger tries to pry the elevator doors open with his bare hands.) LINDA: Hello! Is anybody there? What's going on? (Wendy struggles to breathe.) What is taking so long? (Paige hears Wendy's labored breathing. She turns and kneels down in front of her. PAIGE: Okay, honey, I need you to breathe. Just breathe. (Linda stops trying with the box. Roger isn't getting anywhere with the elevator doors. He hits the doors.) ROGER: Dammit! LINDA: (scoffs) Big man. PAIGE: Can you two get along for two seconds? LINDA: Hasn't happened in three years. Why do you think we're in marriage counseling? ROGER: Do you have to air out all our problems? LINDA: Oh, airing out our problems is your biggest concern? TREY: Ahh. (Trey shorts out the wires and zaps himself. He falls off the elevator railing and hits the ground with a thud.) (Roger grabs Linda and steps aside.) LINDA: Oh, my god! (Wendy starts to panic.) (Paige glances at Wendy, but heads over to check on Trey.) PAIGE: Uh ... okay. (She kneels down to listen.) PAIGE: He's not breathing. ROGER: Oh, god. (She presses her fingertips against the side of Trey's check.) PAIGE: There's no pulse. (Wendy starts coughing and collapses to the floor.) LINDA: Oh, my god. (Linda rushes over to Wendy.) Come on, sweetie. (She sits Wendy up.) ROGER: What are we going to do? (Paige looks at Roger.) PAIGE: Do you know CPR? ROGER: No. PAIGE: Well, I need you to get down here and help me. You're going to learn. ROGER: All right. (Roger kneels down on the other side of Trey and puts his hands over Paige's.) (Paige turns to Linda.) PAIGE: I need you to sing to her. LINDA: Sing? PAIGE: Just sing. Get her breathing in order. (Wendy gasps for air.) PAIGE: Anything. Just sing. (Linda holds Wendy and starts to sing to her.) LINDA: (singing) Hush, little baby / don't say a word PAIGE: I need you to put two fingers above the xyphoid process. (Paige grabs Roger's hands and puts them on Trey's chest.) ROGER: The what? (Linda stops singing and interrupts.) LINDA: Honey ... you can do this, honey (Roger looks at Linda and nods.) ROGER: All right. (Linda goes back to singing to Wendy.) LINDA: Come on. (singing) If that mockingbird don't sing PAIGE: Push down five times for every breath. ROGER: Right. PAIGE: Go. ROGER: One, two, three, four, five ... LINDA: (singing) And if that diamond ring turns brass LINDA: (to Wendy) Come on. Sing with me. LINDA / WENDY: (singing) Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass PAIGE: Good. Good job. LINDA / WENDY: (singing) And if that looking glass gets broke / mama's gonna buy you a billy goat (Wendy's breathing calms down.) LINDA: (smiles) Good. (Roger looks over at Linda with Wendy. Linda turns and looks over at Roger. Roger goes back to his chest compressions.) (Trey lurches and starts coughing.) ROGER: He's alive. Okay. He's alive. (Trey continues to cough. Roger looks over at Linda and Wendy.) PAIGE: Good job. (The elevator gives a jolt and lurches. The lights shut off.) LINDA: Oh, god! (The elevator shakes, shivers and creaks loudly.) (The lights go back on and the elevator door opens. Wendy's father is there.) FATHER: Wendy! WENDY: Daddy! (Wendy gets to her feet and gives her father and mother a hug.) TREY: Ohh. PAIGE: (to Trey) You okay? (The EMTs peer into the elevator.) PAIGE: He was electrocuted. We gave him CPR. (Roger gets up and looks at Linda. Linda turns and they both hug each other.) (Trey looks at Paige.) TREY: Thanks. (Paige sighs.) CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD -- CAVE] (Hope slowly reaches for the box as it continues to whisper to her. Katya walks over to her.) KATYA: Open it ... or your friend dies. (Hope looks at Katya. She reaches over and opens the lid. Black dust slowly rises up, then shoots straight up in a pillar of all things evil. The force of the explosive column of evil pushes Hope back onto the floor.) (Hope stares at the black cloud of evil hovering near the ceiling. Katya smiles and laughs with glee.) (The black cloud of evil escapes out of the cave through the cracks and crevices in the walls.) (Katya turns to Hope and takes out the metal dagger from behind her back.) KATYA: It's done. HOPE: But you said - KATYA: That I wasn't going to hurt you? Yeah. I lied. (Lucius appears in the doorway.) KATYA: Since the next Guardian hasn't been born yet and with you dead, there won't be anyone around to put everything back. (Katya throws the dagger at Hope. Out of reflex, Hope raises her arms to protect her head and blasts the dagger away from her telekinetically. The dagger bounces harmlessly against the cave wall.) (Katya wasn't expecting that. She turns and looks at Hope surprised. Hope gets to her feet. Katya realizes that Hope isn't helpless anymore.) (Behind Hope, Piper and Phoebe appear in the cave.) (Piper looks around and takes in the opened box on the table.) PIPER: We're too late. (Lucius steps forward. Piper blasts him.) LUCIUS: Aah! (Lucius explodes.) PIPER: Minions! (Hope gasps. Katya quickly steps forward and closes the box. She holds it and flutters out of the cave, vanishing from their sight.) PHOEBE: Hope, what are you doing here? HOPE: She forced me to open the box. She took my friend Darcy. PIPER: Where is she? (Hope turns and points.) HOPE: That way. (Phoebe turns and heads in that direction. Hope follows her.) [INT. UNDERWORLD -- INNER CAVE -- CONTINUOUS] (Darcy sits in the cold cave crying.) (Katya flutters into the cave with the box. She kneels down next to Darcy and grabs her by her hair.) (She throws Darcy into the dark shadows of the cave.) DARCY: Aah! (We hear Darcy hit the ground with a thud.) (Katya steps forward with a smile on her face.) HOPE: (o.s.) Darcy?! Where are you?! (Katya gets an idea. She puts the box down behind some rocks, then takes up Darcy's former sitting position on the cold cave floor.) PHOEBE: (o.s.) Darcy? (Katya takes a breath.) PHOEBE: (o.s.) Darcy! (She tucks her hands close to her chest and starts to cower, preparing herself.) HOPE: (o.s.) Darcy, where are you? (Katya shapeshifts into Darcy.) (Phoebe and Hope appear in the cavern entrance. Hope runs toward Darcy and kneels down next to her.) "DARCY" (KATYA): Get me out of here. (Hope nods. She turns and looks over at Piper and Phoebe.) (Piper turns and looks back at Phoebe. They both share a look.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (Paige is now with the rest of the group.) PAIGE: Okay, well, I guess your day trumps my day. Thanks for bringing me home to clean up the mess, though. Is anybody else feeling blue? PHOEBE: It's the effects of the box being opened. PIPER: Okay, there's still a demon on the loose, and the longer he is, the more we're all going to be affected. "DARCY" (KATYA): Yeah, exactly. Um, this is crazy. We need to leave. PHOEBE: You're safer here. "DARCY" (KATYA): (shakes her head) No. HOPE: It's okay, Darcy. They can protect us. "DARCY" (KATYA): Hope, that thing was trying to kill us. She wants to kill them. We're sitting ducks here. PIPER: Not as much as you are out there. As long as Katya knows that hope can put all the evils back in the box, she is a very large target. PHOEBE: Which means you are, too. "DARCY" (KATYA): No, not if she doesn't go along with it. Look, no one says that you even have to care about this stupid box anymore. PAIGE: Actually, she does, you see? Because it's her birthright. "DARCY" (KATYA): Says you. (Paige rolls her eyes.) Hope, listen to me, okay? We don't even know these people. For all we know, they could be the demon. PIPER: Ah! That's ridiculous. "DARCY" (KATYA): Is it? She's done it before. That's what she does, right? (She looks back at them.) Right? (Phoebe gets an idea of what's going on.) "DARCY" (KATYA): Hope, we can only trust each other. HOPE: You're right. PIPER: Hope ... PHOEBE: No, actually, I think she is right. PAIGE: Phoebe! PHOEBE: We can't make her do something she doesn't want to do. This is her path to either follow or not. (Piper looks at Phoebe, wondering what's going on.) PHOEBE: But before you leave, Hope, let Paige show you how to contact us, god forbid anything. (Paige and Hope step closer to the Book where Phoebe is. Phoebe looks over at Piper and Darcy, dismissing them.) PHOEBE: We'll see you downstairs. (Piper looks at Phoebe who gives her a pointed look. Piper takes Darcy and they leave the attic.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Leo holds Chris while looking for Wyatt.) LEO: Wyatt? (He turns and sees Piper and "Darcy" coming down the stairs. Piper looks at him and smiles.) LEO: What's going on? PIPER: I'm not sure. Where's Wyatt? LEO: Um ... he, uh ... (Off screen, we hear a plate shatter and Wyatt giggle. Piper smiles.) LEO: Excuse me. PIPER: Sure. (Leo hurries to the kitchen.) "DARCY" (KATYA): What's taking them so long up there? PIPER: I don't know. What's your hurry? "DARCY" (KATYA): I just want to get out of here as soon as possible. PIPER: Uh-huh. ("Hope" and Phoebe rush down the stairs.) "HOPE": Okay, let's go. ("Hope" brushes past Piper and heads for the front door. Darcy follows her. Phoebe lingers near Piper.) PIPER: I hope you know what you're doing. PHOEBE: Trust me. [EXT. MANOR - FRONT PORCH - DAY - CONTINUOUS] ("Hope" and "Darcy" exit the house. "Darcy" closes the front door and glares at "Hope".) "HOPE": What? What's the matter? ("Darcy" grabs "Hope's" hair.) "DARCY" (KATYA): This is getting to be way too easy. ("Darcy" shapeshifts back into Katya. "Hope's" eyes widen with surprise. Katya laughs.) (Katya flutters the two of them out.) CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - INNER CAVE -- CONTINUOUS] (The real Darcy is back in the cave sleeping. Katya and "Hope" flutter into the cave.) (Katya tosses "Hope" forward. Darcy opens her eyes and sees "Hope".) DARCY: Hope. "HOPE": I'm okay. KATYA: Actually, not for long. ("Hope" turns and looks at Katya.) "HOPE" (PAIGE): Okay, you heard me say it, and I meant it. I do not want anything to do with that box. I swear! KATYA: But you will ... in time. You'll come to believe in yourself, your powers, just like Pandora did. And then you'll want to get the box back, put the sorrows back -- but, see, I can't let that happen. (Katya kneels down and takes out her dagger. She twirls it around familiarly in her hand.) ("Hope" gets to her feet and faces Katya. Darcy watches "Hope" with wide-eyes.) "HOPE" (PAIGE): You won't have a choice. (Katya laughs.) KATYA: What? You think you can stop me? (Katya throws the dagger. Immediately, "Hope" raises her hand and orbs the dagger away.) "HOPE" (PAIGE): Dagger! (The dagger hits the cave wall harmlessly.) KATYA: (surprised) But ... Guardians can't orb! "HOPE" (PAIGE): No, but whitelighters can, and into anything they want, too ... or anybody. ("Hope" orbs back into Paige. Darcy looks completely shocked.) PAIGE: Sorry we haven't met before, but I've been otherwise engaged! (Paige throws the potion at Katya's feet. The vial breaks and flames engulf Katya. She explodes.) DARCY: (freaking out) What -- what is going on here?! PAIGE: It's okay. It's okay. I'm here to get you home, all right? (Paige holds out her hand.) PAIGE: Pandora's box! (The box orbs from its place behind the rocks onto Paige's hand.) PAIGE: I need you to give this to Hope for me. (She gives the box to Darcy.) I'd give it to her myself, but there's somebody I have to see. (Paige waves her hand ... ) PAIGE: Home! (... and orbs Darcy out of the cave.) (Paige takes a deep breath and exhales.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (Back in the attic, Phoebe, Piper and Hope wait. Darcy orbs into the attic with Pandora's box.) PHOEBE: Darcy? DARCY: Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here? (Phoebe turns and looks at Hope.) HOPE: That's her. (Phoebe walks over to Darcy and takes the box from her.) PHOEBE: (smiles) Just didn't want to make the same mistake twice. (She holds the box out to Hope.) PHOEBE: Okay, Hope, we need your help. You're the only person that can do this. (Hope hesitantly takes the box.) HOPE: I don't-- PHOEBE: Listen to me. This is your Destiny. PIPER: Just like becoming witches was ours. HOPE: I just ... uh, don't know if I can do this. DARCY: You're forgetting something about Pandora's Box. According to myth, when all the sorrows are released, there was one thing left at the bottom of the box -- hope. PHOEBE: You can do it. (Hope takes a step back and holds the box close to her chest. She opens the lid.) (The whispering starts. We hear them before we see them. The black dust gathers into the attic, coming in from the open window, the cracks in the walls and ceiling.) (It swirls around the attic and around the girls. They watch as the black dust obediently heads straight back into the box.) (The lid closes. The whispering stops.) PHOEBE: Told you you could do it. HOPE: Thank you. CUT TO: [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE -- DAY] [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE - TALLEST TOWER -- DAY] (Paige stands at the top of the tallest tower. She turns and paces as she waits.) (Sandra orbs in behind her.) SANDRA: How are the ears? PAIGE: Better, thank you. It was pretty risky of you, sending me off to help a future whitelighter. SANDRA: Was it? PAIGE: Yes. We almost didn't get Pandora's Box. SANDRA: But you did get it back. PAIGE: Yes. SANDRA: Which proves that you can handle both your Charmed and your Whitelighter responsibilities. PAIGE: I don't see what that has to do with -- SANDRA: Didn't it make you feel so proud, accomplishing what you did in that elevator? PAIGE: Of course, I did. SANDRA: And you did it all by yourself without your sisters. Maybe this is what you have been searching for, Paige, your separate identity. Being a Whitelighter can give you that and much more. PAIGE: Like what? SANDRA: Fulfillment. You're a natural, Paige. Everything you've been and done in your life has been preparing you to be a whitelighter. Everything you needed to help those people has been inside of you all along. PAIGE: Well, it did feel good to save them. SANDRA: Then don't fight that. Embrace it, not for me, not for the Elders, but for yourself. Think about it? (Sandra smiles and turns to leave. Paige stops her.) PAIGE: Wait. Just out of curiosity, who was the future whitelighter I was supposed to save? SANDRA: You were. (Paige chuckles.) (With a sly look on her face, Sandra orbs out.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY -- DAY] (Wyatt is sitting on the floor playing while Leo holds Chris and watches.) (He hands Wyatt a geometric ball, letting him play with it.) (Piper walks into the room. She lingers in the doorway.) PIPER: So how was your day? LEO: Very funny. Actually, it was all right. It calmed down a bit once Wyatt tried to orb a toy to himself and hit himself in the head. PIPER: Oh, no. LEO: It's okay. It was just a little bump, but it was enough to teach him that he shouldn't do it again. PIPER: Is that your way of telling me that magical boys will be magical boys again? LEO: No. You know, we both need to teach him when and where to use his powers, though it's not going to be easy. PIPER: And on the other hand, we do need to realize that he is who he is, and even though I want a normal family, (Piper sits down.) ... I don't want it at the expense of them finding their own identities. LEO: Well, uh, Chris here is going to be coming into his powers shortly. It could get a little nuts around here. PIPER: As opposed to what? LEO: (chuckles) Yeah. PIPER: We'll deal with it as it comes, together. And until then ... (to Wyatt) Why don't you show mommy all those cool tricks you've been learning? Go ahead. It's okay. (Wyatt takes the geometric ball and orbs it up to the air above him. Next, his teddy bear floats up next to it. Piper smiles.) (Far shot of the family. We see that Wyatt has several more toys including a toy train and his block set floating in the air above him.)
