They wipe him of his memories and drop him somewhere in the states where he must choose between Piper and a life on earth or his duty with the Elders. The others race to find Leo before Piper succumbs to the poison. In Charmed's 150th episode, Julian McMahon reprises his role as Cole Turner. ========================== CHARMED 7X16: SEVEN YEAR WITCH ========================== FADE IN. [TRIQUETRA] [Scene from 7X14: Carpe Demon] [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- DAY] (A motorcycle appears in the hallway, breaking through some kind of barrier and magically appearing as it heads straight toward the Great Hall.) (The rider tries to stop, swerves the bike and crashes into the large table facing the double doors.) (The rider stops.) ROSE MCGOWAN (NARRATOR): (v.o.) Previously on "Charmed" ... (Drake takes his riding mask and goggles off. He smoothes down his ruffled hair.) DRAKE: I'm the new teacher. (Paige's brows furrow.) [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - DAY] (Piper tells Drake her decision.) PIPER: Buddy, we're not gonna let a demon or an ex-demon teach at magic school. [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - DAY] (Drake and Phoebe are dressed like Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds as they hold hands after their dance.) DRAKE: Happy Valentine's Day. PHOEBE: And to you. (They lean forward to kiss each other ... ) [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - STUDY -- NIGHT] (Drake talks with Phoebe.) DRAKE: You know, the deal I made that made me human, at the end of it, I gotta die. PHOEBE: How long do you have? DRAKE: Two weeks. [TRIQUETRA FLASH TO] [Scene from 7X15: Show Ghouls] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT] (Open on the page in the Book of Shadows. The page reads: [ Tips For Future Whitelighters To my sons, Wyatt and Chris, Here is some information to assist and guide you on the discovery of your new found powers. The apple doesn't fall far from the three, so, you'll possess all the powers I have, and more. Good Luck ... When you're ready, you'lll receive a call from the Elders ... ... is tied to your powers, use them to become ... ... whitelighters can speak the language of the ... ] PIPER: (reads) "Tips for Future Whitelighters"? PIPER: Why can't you just tell them all this yourself? LEO: Because I might not be around. [INT. P-3 -- MORNING] (Piper talks with Leo.) PIPER: We both know that The Elders are not gonna be easy on you. LEO: Well, when you change the world, you gotta expect consequences. [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT] PIPER: Well, they can't just yank you out of our lives, Leo. LEO: How do you know that? FADE OUT. END OF PREVIOUSLY ON. FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO CITY (STOCK) -- DAY] [EXT. ALLEY - DAY] (Paige and Piper orb into the alley. They slowly walk forward, looking around.) PAIGE: Weren't we here before? Doesn't that mattress look strangely familiar? PIPER: It's probably because we saw one just like it in the last alley and the hundred and fifty before that. They all start to look the same after a while. Now, where is this paragon of good we're supposed to protect? PAIGE: Hey, slow down. We gotta be careful, okay? PIPER: Okay. I just need to get home before Leo is sentenced. PAIGE: Don't worry. When the Elders hand down their punishment, you're gonna know. PIPER: Well, this waiting business sucks. I mean, Leo was an Avatar for less time than it's taking them to make up their minds. (Paige turns around and looks at Piper, the two facing each other.) PAIGE: Hey, it's gonna be okay. You're not gonna lose Leo again. The Elders still need him. They're not gonna do anything rash. Besides ... it's Phoebe we should be worrying about. Her man's disappearing tonight. PIPER: Her what? She didn't tell me she had a thing for Drake! PAIGE: Well, I mean, she didn't tell me either, but, come on, he's cute, he's funny, he's smart, and he's destined to leave. I don't know, that kind of sounds like her type to a "T." I mean, really, how many times does a girl have to get hurt before she just kind of wakes up? (A woman appears at the end of the alley behind Paige. She's carrying some flyers.) PIPER: So you think she's ... (Piper looks up and sees the woman standing just behind Paige.) ... the innocent. PAIGE: (misunderstanding) No, I don't think she's the innocent. I think she definitely has a part in this and she absolutely -- (The woman walks up to them. Paige is startled and turns around to look.) PIPER: Behind you, the innocent. WOMAN (INNOCENT): (cheerfully) If you women need a hot meal and a place to crash, there's a -- PAIGE: (interrupts) Okay, hi. I'm wearing lip gloss. Do I look homeless? PIPER: For god's sakes. (Piper freezes the woman.) (Just behind the woman, a demon shimmers into the alley. Piper waves her right hand, blasting the demon. It barely interrupts the flow of conversation.) PIPER: I think Phoebe's just been ... unlucky in love lately. PAIGE: (rolls her eyes) Do ya think?! (She turns, sees something off screen and grabs Piper's arm.) Hey! (Off Screeen, we hear something shimmer into the alley. Piper turns to look. There are three more thorn demons dressed in black with tattooed markings on their arms and faces - two male and one female.) (Piper turns and grabs the Innocent to get her out of the way. They take cover.) (The lead thorn demon powers up a fireball and throws it at them. Piper lets go of the woman who falls to the ground. Piper and Paige duck behind a trash bin as the fireball hits the wall just behind the woman.) (Paige looks around for something to throw at them.) PAIGE: Uh, ugly metal ... thing! (She orbs the metal pipe in the trash bin and flings it at the demons. It impales two of the thorn demons and pins them to the wooden door. The two male thorn demons explode.) (The female thorn demon blows a mouthful of thorns at them. Piper waves her hands and blows the female demon up.) (The thorns hit the trash bin nearby.) (One of the thorns also hits Piper's left hand.) PIPER: Ah! Ah ... (Paige pulls the thorn out and looks at it.) PIPER: (annoyed) Did we know that the female spits thorns? CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY / SITTING ROOM / MAIN HALL - DAY-CONTINUOUS] (Paige and Piper orb into the Conservatory. Paige grabs Piper's hand and looks at the injury.) PAIGE: Okay, we really need to have Leo look at this. (Piper waves it aside.) PIPER: It's fine, really. (Piper heads into the sitting room.) PIPER: Leo! (Leo is coming down the stairs. He's dressed in his Elder's robes.) PIPER: Why are you wearing those? LEO: The Elders made their decision. I have to go. PIPER: (worried) Right now? You can't go right now. The boys are in school. We won't be able to see -- (Leo comes down the stairs and stops in front of her.) LEO: (interrupts) Honey, this isn't good-bye. I'm just going up there to find out what my punishment is. PIPER: What do you mean "just"? You make it sound like it's no big deal. What if it's bad? LEO: Well, then we'll deal with it. Come on. You're the one who said the Elders couldn't yank me away, remember? PIPER: Well, that was before I had all this time to stress out about it. LEO: Well, at least now we're finally gonna know. (Piper looks away. Leo tries to catch her eyes.) I mean, that's a good thing, right? The waiting's been killing us. PIPER: (sighs) Yeah, I know. It's just ... I have a bad feeling. LEO: Me, too. (sighs) But we've been through worse. You just have to have faith, okay? (They kiss.) LEO: I love you. PIPER: I love you, too. (Leo looks up at Paige.) PAIGE: Good luck. (Leo orbs out leaving Piper behind.) FADE TO END OF TEASER ROLL TITLE CREDITS (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO SCENES (STOCK) -- DAY] SANDRA: (v.o.) Unfortunately, the council has been unable to decide your fate, Leo. [EXT. GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE - TALLEST TOWER - DAY] (Leo leans against the tower while meeting with Sandra and Odin.) LEO: So ... that's good, right? I'm not going to be punished? ODIN: We didn't say that. SANDRA: We understand and we fully accept how being betrayed by an Elder, by Gideon, led you to the Avatars. ODIN: Still, that doesn't excuse your betraying us. SANDRA: The council has come to realize that the central problem is your effort to balance two distinctly different worlds -- yours with us and yours with Piper. ODIN: So the only solution is to find out which world you truly belong in once and for all. LEO: How? ODIN: A test, if you will. SANDRA: You'll be made mortal, stripped of your powers and your memories, and then you'll be relocated. ODIN: If the love you share for Piper is so strong that you're drawn back to her despite all odds, then you will live with her forever. SANDRA: To live fully as a human without any further interference from us ever again. LEO: But what if I never find her, then what? ODIN: Then it means that your destiny is with us and we will welcome you, although you'll never see your family again. LEO: Are you out of your mind? I won't do that. ODIN: You have no choice. SANDRA: You have to know, Leo, this is not about punishing you. This is about helping you to find your way. LEO: Okay, but if I end up with Piper, how do I know you won't eventually butt in again? Or if I wind up with you as an Elder, how do you know I'm not gonna leave ... by falling from grace? ODIN: No Elder has ever done that before. LEO: You take away my family and I will. SANDRA: We are not taking away anything from you, Leo. This is about you making a choice, not us. Don't you see? This is the only way. Your heart will guide you to your true destiny, be it love or the greater good. Whatever way it turns out, we will honor it ... as you also must. LEO: Fine. I'll do it. But first I'm going to say bye to Piper. ODIN: It doesn't work that way. LEO: Look ... (Leo steps closer toward them.) ... I said I'd take your damn test. I'm going to say good-bye to my family. (Odin steps closer to Leo.) ODIN: No. The test begins now! (He smacks the palms of his hands against Leo's chest. There's a burst of bright, white orb lights.) FADE TO WHITE. FADE IN. [EXT. HIGHWAY CROSSROADS - DAY] (Leo is standing in the middle of an unknown roadway. A large delivery truck drives away from him. He's wearing a comfortable, familiar flannel shirt. He pus his left hand to his chest and we notice he doesn't have a wedding ring on.) (He looks around lost.) (Camera pulls back away from Leo and we find a black sign next to him with a white silhouette of Texas on it. In the center is the number: 69. Leo turns around and notes the sign.) (A truck horn beeps behind Leo. Leo turns around in time to see the truck swerve to avoid hitting him. Clyde, the truck's driver, tries to control the truck, but can't.) CLYDE: Aah! (The truck runs off the road and flips over a couple of times.) (Leo runs toward the truck to help the driver.) LEO: Come on, we got to get you out of here. (Leo helps Clyde to his feet and helps him away from the truck.) CLYDE: Oh ... oh ... (The truck explodes.) CLYDE: Oh, God ... oh. (Leo helps Clyde down to the ground. Clyde groans in pain. Leo looks at Clyde, then looks back at the burning truck.) (Quick flashback to: [WAR ZONE] Bombs fall and explode around them. Leo turns. He's wearing a medic helmet and arm band. He's kneeling next to a man. He grabs a soldier and issues him orders as he's running to the next person who needs his help.) (More bombs explode around them as Leo runs through the camp.) (End of flashback. Resume to present.) (Leo looks at the man clutching his arm. He moves behind the man.) (Leo picks up a small stick.) CLYDE: Oh, hey, what the hell are you -- you got any idea what you're doing? (He hands the stick to Clyde.) LEO: Bite down. (Clyde puts the stick in his mouth. Leo grabs the man's arm ... ) LEO: Get in there ... (... and resets Clyde's dislocated shoulder. We hear the joint snap back into place. Clyde spits the stick out of his mouth and looks up at Leo.) CLYDE: (smiles) How'd the hell you know how to do that? (Leo walks around Clyde to check on his leg. He takes a piece of cloth and ties it around Clyde's leg.) LEO: Doesn't look too bad. They should be able to sew that up. CLYDE: Finally got lucky for once, almost running over a doctor. (Leo looks at Clyde.) CLYDE: You are a doctor ... right? (Leo pauses as he thinks.) LEO: I don't know. (Leo continues to tie up Clyde's leg.) PHOEBE: (v.o.) What do you mean you don't know? CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - DINING ROOM / MAIN HALL -- DAY] (Piper steps out of the kitchen into the dining room carrying a vase filled with water. Phoebe and Drake stand in the main hallway as Paige fills them in.) PAIGE: Leo went to speak to The Elders this morning. Haven't seen or heard from him since. (Piper sets the vase on the dining room table and starts going through the flowers to fill the vase.) PHOEBE: Well, that's crazy. We've been to the Alps and back. How long does it take to hand down a sentence? DRAKE: Well, in defense of the Elders, when you live for an eternity, time does get a little skewed. (Piper puts the roses in the vase.) PIPER: Yeah, well, we're human, so this is torture. PHOEBE: Well, this is ridiculous. (Phoebe looks up at the ceiling.) PHOEBE: Hey! Listen, what the hell did you do to Leo? PAIGE: I tried that already. Didn't work so much. PHOEBE: Well, you know what? I'm not saving another innocent until I find out what happened. (She looks back up at the ceiling.) You hear me? I'm not saving another innocent until you tell us what's going on here. (Sandra orbs into the room.) SANDRA: Don't worry. (They turn and look at her.) SANDRA: Leo's fine. PIPER: So then where is he? SANDRA: Piper, the Elders came to the consensus that Leo has lost his way, so we've sent him on the path towards following his destiny. DRAKE: Like the prodigal son out to find his way in the world? PIPER: Uh, you know what, this Elder-speak is not working for me. I need some straight answers. What exactly did you do to him? SANDRA: We erased his memories and put him back on earth as a mortal, somewhere you'll never find him. PHOEBE: What? He doesn't remember anything? He doesn't remember Piper or his sons -- nothing? SANDRA: Not even having been an Elder. PIPER: That's crazy. You don't have the right to wipe out someone's mind, an entire life -- my life! SANDRA: Leo was not just someone, Piper. He was an Elder, by his own choice. He knew all that that entailed. PIPER: Yeah, he was also a husband and a father by choice, and he would never abandon his family. SANDRA: This was not an easy decision for us. We love Leo up there as much as you do down here. He wasn't killed or recycled. I hope that you can find comfort in that. (Piper walks around the table and heads toward Sandra.) PIPER: I'm sorry. You just lobotomized the love of my life, and you want me to take comfort in what? You've got a lot of nerve, lady. Now, I don't want to see you again or any of your kind ever again. We're done with all of you. Now, please ... go. SANDRA: Don't give up hope. PIPER: You really need to stop talking now. Please get out of my house. (Sandra orbs out.) PIPER: That's ridiculous. (Piper turns and walks into the living room.) [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe follows her. Piper sits down on the couch.) PHOEBE: Okay, Piper, I know this seems really bad, but we can't give up hope. Leo is out there somewhere, and I'm sure there's lots of ways we can find him. (Phoebe walks around the couch as Piper sits and thinks.) PIPER: How? PHOEBE: Uh, I don't know. We can scry for him, although he doesn't have his powers, so that might b-be difficult. We could -- I don't know. I just -- I don't know. PAIGE: This is your idea of a rah-rah speech? You're supposed to be cheering her up, not pushing her off the ledge! (Phoebe sits down on the couch arm rest.) PHOEBE: Well, you know what, Paige? Maybe I'm just all rah-rah'ed out. PAIGE: Huh? (Paige sits down opposite Piper and Phoebe.) PHOEBE: Maybe it's time we face the fact that, you know, perhaps we're not meant to find love. (Drake stands on the side listening to them.) PAIGE: That is ridiculous! PHOEBE: Okay, think about it. How many Halliwell women have actually been able to hold onto their men? PIPER: Name one. PAIGE: Okay, uh ... (she thinks and can't come up with any) ... oh, my God, you're right. That's so depressing. PHOEBE: Exactly. We're destined to be spinsters. All for the greater good. PIPER: Might as well be nuns. With better outfits. DRAKE: (sputters) Now - we -- All right, let's ... (He throws his gloves down on the floor.) Eighty-six that kinda talk, people. We will not give up on love -- repeat--not give up on love. Love is everything. It's the only thing. It's why you're here. It's why I'm here. PAIGE: Uh, I thought you were here to teach at Magic School. DRAKE: There's that, but the point is, you're young, you're hot, you got magic powers. Come on, the whole life's ahead of you! PHOEBE: That's really sweet, and we appreciate you trying, but you die tonight at midnight, and we have to keep fighting. DRAKE: Yeah, I may be toast, but love never dies. You might as well die with me if you're gonna give up on it. The point is, Leo and Piper's love, it's epic, it's massive. It's Romeo and Juliet, Anthony and Cleopatra, Brad and Jennifer. PIPER: All tragedies, I might add. DRAKE: Better to have loved and lost and ... yadda, yadda, yadda. But the point is, it's not lost. I mean, he's lost, but he's not lost, you know? All you gotta do is find Leo. PAIGE: Well, either way, if the Elders don't want us to find him, we're not gonna be able to. DRAKE: They didn't say that. They're gonna leave it up to him. Come on, precious time is a-wasting. The longer you take to look for Leo, the harder he's gonna be to find. Or we stay here and feel sorry for ourselves if you like. PIPER: My husband just developed a serious case of amnesia, okay? Give me a moment. DRAKE: Phoebe? (He holds out his hand for her. She puts her hand in his. He pulls her up and into his arms as he dances her around the main hall.) DRAKE: If love isn't worth fighting for then (He dips her.) DRAKE: ... what is? (Phoebe laughs. He straightens her.) PHOEBE: Okay. This is what we're gonna do. We'll look in the Book of Shadows and see if there's another way to find Leo. DRAKE: Amen. PAIGE: Okay. I guess I could check at magic school. DRAKE: Now we're talking. PHOEBE: Piper, call Darryl. Now that Leo's mortal, he might be able to track him. DRAKE: Amen! Can we go upstairs? PHOEBE: Wha -- DRAKE: The B-Book of Shadows. PHOEBE: Yes! (Drake and Phoebe rush up the stairs and Paige orbs out leaving Piper alone.) (Piper slowly gets to her feet and wobbles unsteadily. She starts to put a hand to her head and notices the wound on her hand. She rubs her hand.) CUT TO: [INT. (SMALL TOWN) SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT - DAY] (Sheriff Taylor finishes taking Leo's fingerprints. He looks at the card.) SHERIFF TAYLOR: Well, that ought to do it. Once we get you into the system, we'll be on the road to finding out who you really are. (He puts the fingerprint card aside.) LEO: Thanks. SHERIFF TAYLOR: Are you sure you don't remember anything? I mean, normally, a person with amnesia remembers something. LEO: I wish I did. Believe me. SHERIFF TAYLOR: Yeah. Well, at least we know you're one of the good guys. Saved old Clyde's life. (He chuckles.) SHERIFF TAYLOR: You know, son, the paramedics told me that the way you fixed up his leg looked professional. (Leo thinks about it.) LEO: Instinct, I guess. SHERIFF TAYLOR: Seems to me that ... you could be a doctor or medic or something. Anything ring a bell? LEO: No. Nothing. SHERIFF TAYLOR: Well, okay. It's okay. It'll come to you. Just gonna take some time. (The Sheriff walks over to Glen who is working behind the computer.) You see that? Old Glen's got you in the database already. (The door slams.) (On instinct, Leo turns around, his hands up as if to blast whomever is behind him.) (Quick flashback to: [UNDERWORLD - CAVES] Leo is blasting a demon, holding him up against the ceiling with the bolts of electricity.) (End of flashback. Resume to present.) (Leo stares at the man who just walked into the office. He looks at his hands.) SHERIFF TAYLOR: Son, you're bound to be a bit jumpy. I'm guessing you went through some kind of hell to get here. LEO: Yeah. Yeah, maybe. (Leo turns and looks at the Sheriff. Sheriff Taylor picks up his hat and walks over to Leo.) SHERIFF TAYLOR: Come on. Let me take you over to Nadine's, get you something to eat while we sift through the computer. LEO: I'd rather stay here. SHERIFF TAYLOR: A man can't think straight on an empty stomach. Besides, chances are you got some loved ones out there looking for you, and once we get the word out ... well, they'll find you soon enough. (He slaps Leo companionably on the arm.) Come on. (Sheriff Taylor and Leo leave the office.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (Phoebe is standing and scrying over a world map.) PHOEBE: We'll never find him, not scrying, anyway, and I don't think we're gonna make it to the Taj Mahal by sunset. I feel terrible about ... ruining your last day here. DRAKE: Hey, don't scry for me, Argentina. (Phoebe chuckles.) I'm exactly where I want to be. PHOEBE: In a dingy attic? DRAKE: Helping those I'm leaving behind, yeah. PHOEBE: Yeah, see, that's the other really irritating thing - (Phoebe sits down.) You're hell bent on helping Piper and Leo, and yet you won't let us help you. DRAKE: Phoebe, I made a deal. I got to be human for a whole year. Time's up. PHOEBE: I know, but you made a deal with a demon. We're the good guys, The Charmed Ones. Why won't you let us help you? DRAKE: Because I've done all I need to do to die a happy man, all except for one thing. PHOEBE: See Niagara Falls? DRAKE: Make sure you don't give up on love. (Phoebe rolls her eyes.) PHOEBE: Please. Not that again. (She goes back to scrying over the map.) Look, I'm just being realistic, okay? I have been heartbroken so many times by love that I'm just beginning to think that I'm supposed to live my life without it. DRAKE: What -- that is ridiculous. PHOEBE: Nobody is. I've been demonic without love, so I know what I'm talking about. Love is transcendent. It's miraculous. It's also what can save Piper and Leo. PHOEBE: Yeah, well, I hope so, because if it can't, I'm joining the convent. (Phoebe puts the scrying crystal down.) (Paige orbs in.) PAIGE: Hey. DRAKE: Hi. PAIGE: Well, it looks as if the Elders had an original thought for once, because there's no precedence for what they've done to Leo. PHOEBE: Yeah. We can't find anything here either. PAIGE: Okay, well, maybe I should try scrying for him. Maybe my whitelighter side can tap into something in him? (Phoebe stands up and hands Paige the scrying crystal.) PAIGE: It would be great to be able to tell Piper something good for once. (Paige starts to scry.) PIPER: (v.o.) (to phone) Darryl, you have to do something. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - DAY] (Piper paces the Main Hallway as she talks on the phone with Darryl.) PIPER: (to phone) Anything. DARRYL: (from phone) Look, Piper, I'm doing the best that I can, ... INTERCUT WITH: [INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - DARRYL'S OFFICE - DAY] (Darryl sits behind his desk.) DARRYL: ... but the only fingerprints that I have on Leo are from World War II, and I can't use them because they don't match his photograph. He's ... too young. PIPER: Okay, Darryl, but you have to find him. DARRYL: I will. I promise. It just might take a little time. PIPER: Well, how long? Long enough that he has a whole new life, a new wife and new kids? That is not okay. That is not acceptable! DARRYL: Piper, just take a breath. PIPER: (upset) Okay, look, I don't need to take a breath. I need to find my husband! (Piper hangs up and walks over to the table to put the phone back on the holder. She turns and puts a trembling hand to her forehead. She breathes heavily and stops in front of the stairs.) (Something is terribly wrong. She rubs her injured hand.) PIPER: Oh, god. Somebody please help me. (She turns toward the stairs, but before she can take a step, she collapses on the floor.) CUT TO: [PIPER] (Piper stands up. She starts walking up the stairs. She takes a couple of steps, then feels that something is out of place. She turns around and sees her body on the floor at the base of the stairs.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Oh, no. Am I dead again? COLE: (o.s.) No. (Piper looks up and sees Cole leaning against the sitting room door frame.) COLE: (shrugs) Well ... not yet, anyway. (He smiles at her. Piper stares at him.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM / MAIN HALL - DAY] (Piper heads back down the stairs. She steps over her body on the floor as she heads toward Cole.) PIPER (SPIRIT): I don't know which is worse -- the fact that I'm dying or that, apparently, I'm gonna be spending my last dying moments with you. COLE: I'd say that's what you should be worried about. You're not looking so hot. (He smiles at her.) COLE: What? PIPER (SPIRIT): What? Don't what me, Cole. What are you doing here? COLE: You called for me. PIPER (SPIRIT): (chuckles disbelievingly) I didn't call for you. COLE: You asked for help. Here I am. PIPER (SPIRIT): Like hell. You're the answer to my prayers? I don't think so. That's just plain -- PHOEBE: (o.s.) Piper? (Piper turns around and sees Phoebe and Paige rush down the stairs when they see Piper's body on the floor.) PAIGE: Oh, my god! (They shake her, trying to wake her up.) PHOEBE: Piper! Piper, wake up! PAIGE: Piper! (Piper waves her arms, trying to get their attention.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Yoo-hoo, guys. Hi. Over here. COLE: They can't hear you. PAIGE: (o.s.) Oh, my God. COLE: Or see you. PAIGE: The thorn demon. I knew I should have had Leo heal her. PHOEBE: Or maybe it's the shock of losing Leo? DRAKE: Or maybe both. (Piper again waves her arms trying to get their attention.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Guys, yoo-hoo! Look. Really, over here. Watch-- (She tries to knock over the lamp on the table, but her arm goes clear through it.) COLE: Nice try. PIPER (SPIRIT): (glares at Cole) Shut up. (Drake steps down the stairs.) DRAKE: Ran into a few of these thorn demons myself. (He snaps his fingers. Piper magically appears in his arms, off the floor.) DRAKE: Those pricks can be vicious. Pun intended. The poison works slowly, but it's also fatal. (He walks over to the couch and puts Piper on it.) PHOEBE: Wait. Fatal? Okay, I don't see any other choice. We're gonna have to call the Elders to heal her. PIPER (SPIRIT): Over my dead body! PAIGE: Are you kidding? Piper will kill us! PHOEBE: At least she'll be alive! (Cole watches from the back.) PAIGE: But if it's slow-working, that'll give us time. Maybe we can have some sort of options or something. PHOEBE: You know what? I hate this. I feel so out of control, like there's nothing that we can do. DRAKE: There's something we can do. All right? We gotta find Leo. PAIGE: Except he can't help us anymore. DRAKE: Actually, he's the only one who can. You weren't paying attention to my little love rant. That's exactly what we're dealing with here. (Behind her, Cole slowly walks up to Piper.) PHOEBE: Are you saying she's lovesick? PIPER (SPIRIT): That's ridiculous! DRAKE: Yeah. And it could kill her. Happens all the time to the bereaved after they lose a loved one. Even if we heal Piper, she still needs Leo. (Cole leans closer to Piper.) COLE: Pay attention. He could be onto something. PIPER (SPIRIT): What do you know? PAIGE: Okay, uh, maybe you and I should go down to see Darryl and help speed this whole thing up. PIPER (SPIRIT): Unh. People, come on. It's a poison thorn. Could somebody please go check the book? DRAKE: I think I'm going to check the, uh, book upstairs, see what I can do for Piper down here. PHOEBE: Call us if she gets worse. (Drake runs up the stairs.) DRAKE: Don't worry. Love will conquer all! (Phoebe and Paige head out. Cole watches Phoebe head into the foyer.) COLE: What beauty. She doth teach the torches to burn bright. (Paige is following Phoebe when she stops. Phoebe backtracks and steps back to look through the sitting room over at the door frame. It's almost as if she saw something there.) PAIGE: What? (She looks and sees no one against the door frame.) PHOEBE: Nothing. (Phoebe and Paige head out.) (We cut back and see that Cole is still leaning against the door frame.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Since when do you quote Shakespeare? COLE: It's a recent affliction, actually. But the demon is right, you know. It is all about love. PIPER (SPIRIT): What are you exactly? Ghost, demon, poltergeist, nightmare? COLE: None of the above. We're caught in a cosmic void ... between life and death. PIPER (SPIRIT): I'm stuck with you? COLE: No. If you play your cards right, you can get out of this nasty limbo. I'm the one who's here for all eternity. PIPER (SPIRIT): Paying penance for your evil past. COLE: You always were the smart one. PIPER (SPIRIT): Cut the crap. COLE: And direct. I miss that. Actually, no, I don't. PIPER (SPIRIT): Can you please just tell me what you're doing here? COLE: Simple. I'm here to help keep you and Leo together. PIPER (SPIRIT): Right. (Piper walks past Cole. She looks down at her body on the sofa as she walks around it heading toward the dining room.) (She looks up and finds Cole leaning against the hallway frame between the main hall and dining room - right in front of her. She stops.) COLE: I'm trying to do a good deed here, make sure that you don't end up like me, and this is the thanks I get. PIPER (SPIRIT): I know what you're doing. This is just a ploy to break out of your ungodly plane and back into our lives. (Cole looks at her.) PIPER (SPIRIT): See? I'm right. COLE: I'll be the first to admit I'm not above having an ulterior motive. PIPER (SPIRIT): Exactly. COLE: But I'm here for one reason and one reason only: To help you find your love while you still can. (Cole looks pointedly at Piper's body on the couch. Piper turns and follows his gaze back to her dying body.) CUT TO: [INT. (SMALL TOWN) TRUCK STOP - NADINE'S - DAY] (Leo sits at the counter finishing up a piece of pie. Nadine walks up to him and takes his plate.) NADINE: Well, looks like you worked up an appetite being the big hero this morning. You know what? Since it's on the house, why don't you try something a bit more substantial? (Nadine pulls out the menu.) LEO: No, this is amazing. I think it was the best pie I've ever had. NADINE: Oh, you know what? I'd take that as a compliment except that you can't remember tying your own shoelaces. You know what? I bet you have someone somewhere who cooks for you just fine ... when it all comes back to you. Hmm? (Leo gazes out in front of him.) NADINE: Oh, I'm sorry. I tend to stick my foot in it. LEO: No, it's-it's okay. I just wish I could remember. (He wipes his mouth with the napkin and notices his ring finger.) NADINE: It looks like you had a wedding ring on, huh? LEO: Yeah, I -- I guess. (He looks at the tan line on his ring finger.) (Quick flashback to: [Scene from 3X01: The Honeymoon's Over] [INT. MANOR - PAST BATHROOM - DAY] On Piper's back facing Leo. Leo is getting down on his knees.) (Cut to: Leo slips the engagement ring on Piper's finger.) (End of flashback. Resume to present.) (Leo looks at his empty ring finger.) NADINE: Maybe she dumped you. LEO: What? No. NADINE: Yeah, maybe she smacked you on the head with some cast iron for cheating on her and knocked you out. Wish I'd done that when I found my husband cheating on me. (Nadine chuckles.) LEO: She didn't dump me. (Nadine looks at Leo.) NADINE: Are you remembering something? LEO: It's just ... a feeling. (Off screen, we hear a woman giggling. Leo turns around and sees the young couple sitting in the booth, his arm around her shoulders.) (He turns and looks at the television set showing a man and a woman kissing.) (Camera holds on Leo.) CUT TO: [INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - DARRYL'S OFFICE - DAY] (Paige is sitting behind the desk and talking on the phone.) PAIGE: (to phone) Yes. Amnesia. He doesn't remember a thing. His family's getting desperate. Yeah, we'll send a photo right over. Thank you. (Phoebe sits behind the desk opposite Paige and is writing something down. Paige hangs up.) PAIGE: Well, a hundred and fifty police stations down and another ba-jillion to go. It's like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack. PHOEBE: I know it's daunting, but we can't give up hope. PAIGE: I'm thinking maybe that Elder didn't want us to. PHOEBE: What are you saying? PAIGE: I think she was trying to say something to us or at least tell Piper something. Why would she tell Piper not to give up hope if all hope is already lost? PHOEBE: So you think it's some kind of test? PAIGE: Well, if it is, it's one we'd better pass. (Darryl walks in carrying a file folder.) PHOEBE: Hey. Any luck? DARRYL: Well, besides the John Doe that you two found matching Leo's description, you know, my guys have come up with two more so far. PHOEBE: Is there any way we could speed this up? DARRYL: I have as many men as I can on it without drawing suspicion from Sheridan. (An officer walks up to Darryl, handing him a file folder.) OFFICER: This looks like something you might want to see. John Doe just saved some guy's life in Texas. (This catches Phoebe and Paige's attention.) CUT TO: [EXT. (SMALL TOWN) TRUCK STOP - DAY] (Leo steps out of the truck stop and closes the door behind him. Off screen, we hear a woman giggling. We see a young couple kissing, the woman sitting on the trunk of a red car. A red truck drives by. It passes a white big rig parked out front.) (Leo heads over to the white big rig. The sign on the side of the driver's door reads: CALIFORNIA GOLDEN GATE PRODUCE "ALWAYS FRESH" (The driver of the big rig steps out wiping his hands on a cloth. He turns and looks at Leo. It's Odin.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Can I help you? LEO: I don't know. Maybe. Are--are you going to San Francisco? ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Want a ride? LEO: Sure. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Well, hop in. LEO: Thanks. (Leo moves to the passenger side. Odin gets inside. The camera lingers on the sign on the side of the driver's door.) [IGNITION] (Odin starts the engine. He puts the rig in gear.) [EXT. (SMALL TOWN) TRUCK STOP - DAY] (The big rig pulls out of the truck stop.) (Camera lingers on the directional sign: SAN FRANCISCO 1750 MILES LONDON 4604 MILES HONOLULU 37?? MILES [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY] DRAKE: (v.o.) You got to have a remedy in here somewhere. [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (Drake stands at the Book of Shadows going through it.) DRAKE: (frustrated) Now, come on, damn it! (He pounds his fists against the book. The Book glows and flies off the stand, hitting the floor with a thud.) (Drake looks around.) DRAKE: (softly) Sorry. Sorry. Let a little bit of the old demon slip out there. Won't happen again. (He reaches for the Book, but it again flies away from him. Drake is on his hands and knees crawling toward the Book.) DRAKE: Come on, would you? I-- (Drake stops as he sees the Book open to a particular page. He pulls the Book toward him.) DRAKE: "Tips for Future Whitelighters? (Drake sits cross-legged on the floor and pulls the open Book onto his lap as he settles down to read.) DRAKE: "To my sons Wyatt and Chris." (thinking) Future whitelighters, eh? (From what we can see, the middle of the page reads: Orbing - Always remember that your family is ... If you feel out of balance, try meditating. Having ... Know that love is the key to your healing ... Understand that whatever happens in the future, ... Inside of you. ) (Camera lingers on the words at the bottom of the page: LOVE, DAD.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY] (Cole lounges on the couch.) COLE: (murmurs) Stubbornness is definitely a family trait. (He picks up the framed photo of Phoebe and looks at it. He turns and calls over his shoulder.) COLE: You've tried going upstairs twice, out the front door four times, and through the wall five. (We see that he's speaking to the wall. Suddenly, Piper is pushed out of the wall and back into the living room. She falls on the floor against the couch with a thud.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Unh! COLE: Make that six times. But, hey, you haven't tried the chimney yet. PIPER (SPIRIT): I thought ghosts could go any damn place they pleased. COLE: You're still attached to your body. You're not a ghost. But you will be if you don't start trusting me. There is only one way out of here. PIPER (SPIRIT): The last Halliwell that trusted you ended up burying your demonic spawn. COLE: Not one of my finer moments, but Phoebe'll make a great mom. Can you blame me for wanting to be the dad? PIPER (SPIRIT): You're wasting your time. COLE: Now is that any way to treat family? PIPER (SPIRIT): And you're really starting to get on my nerves. COLE: Why? (Cole stands up.) Because I know you so well? Remember, I go all the way back to Prue. I was actually at your wedding. The fact is, Leo and I are a lot alike. We both tried to change the world to save our marriages. PIPER (SPIRIT): You are nothing alike, and just because we have history doesn't mean you know anything about me or love. COLE: Like it or not, Phoebe and I were very much in love. PIPER (SPIRIT): Yeah. That is until she suddenly fell out of love with you rather quickly, remember? COLE: I'll never forget. That's why we're doomed. But you and Leo aren't. What you have is powerful, enduring. PIPER (SPIRIT): Yeah, a lot of good it's done us. He's wandering around aimlessly with no idea who he is, and I'm in a coma. COLE: Look, you have someone out there who needs you as much as you need him. Now, if you don't have faith in that love, it's not the only thing that'll die. (Piper turns and looks over at her body on the couch.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. NADINE'S DINER (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. (SMALL TOWN) - NADINE'S - DAY] (Phoebe and Paige are in the small diner.) PHOEBE: Okay, if Leo's not here, we've got nothing. PAIGE: Maybe we should have come here first instead of traipsing all over the map. PHOEBE: Well, he can't be far. The sheriff said that he just saw him here not too long ago. (Nadine steps out from the back. Phoebe and Paige rush over to her.) PHOEBE: Hi. Uh, maybe you could help us. Look, uh, we're looking for somebody, this guy right here. (Phoebe shows Nadine the photo of Leo and Piper at their wedding.) PHOEBE: Have you seen him? (Nadine looks at the photo and recognizes Leo immediately.) NADINE: Ah, yeah. Didn't think a fellow like that would stay lost for long. Yeah, he left about an hour ago, hitched a ride on a big rig. PAIGE: A big rig? PHOEBE: Any idea where they were headed? NADINE: West, I think. Had some kind of California sign on the side. PAIGE: Okay, I'm gonna call Darryl, have him get in touch with the highway patrol. PHOEBE: Okay, uh, look, we really need to find him, and we're running out of time. We need a car. (Nadine looks back at Phoebe.) CUT TO: [EXT. ROADWAY - DAY] (A blue truck passes by.) [INT. TRUCK (MOVING) - ROADWAY - DAY] (Phoebe is driving the blue truck.) PHOEBE: What was that intersection? PAIGE: I don't know. Just keep going west. CUT TO: [EXT. ROADWAY - DAY] (The big rig continues down the road.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): (v.o.) It's a bumpy ride. I'm sorry about that. Newer rigs have better shocks. [INT. BIG RIG (MOVING) - ROADWAY - DAY] ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): But, uh, hey, maybe it'll jog your memory. (Odin drives.) LEO: It does feel like it's starting to come back some. I know somebody needs me. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): I'm not surprised. I heard how you saved that man's life back there. LEO: Anybody else would have done the same thing. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): (chuckles) There. You are wrong there. Not everybody's got the calling. Say, maybe this means there are a whole bunch of somebody's out there that need you. Maybe it's your love of helping others that you're really looking for. You obviously have the healing touch. LEO: I don't know about that. Although it did seem familiar ... like I had a purpose. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Perhaps you were working for the greater good -- you know, helping people when you lost your memory. Maybe deep down, you sensed that the people that you were helping still need you. LEO: I guess I have to hang in there till my memory comes back, huh? ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Yep. Listen to that inner voice. LEO: You know, you sound more like a man of the cloth than a truck driver. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): In a way, maybe I am. You learn a lot about life on the road. I mean, sure, it's lonely sometimes. But I take heart in knowing that whatever sacrifices I make personally, I'm still bringing people what they need, and to me, that's what it's all about. Say, I'm gonna be heading north here soon. You're welcome to join us if you want. LEO: Us? ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): O-Others who, uh, who think like I do. You know, who want to help. Of course, if you think that you're meant to be somewhere else, I mean, that's okay, too. Because, I mean, look, it's up to you. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY] (Cole continues to talk with Piper.) COLE: I'm not quite sure what's so hard to grasp. Love transcends every plane of existence. All you need to do is believe in it with every fiber of your being and just send it out to Leo. PIPER (SPIRIT): What does that mean? I don't understand. COLE: I could never get through to you. I could always sense when there was something wrong with Phoebe. PIPER (SPIRIT): Well, clearly Leo is not sensing that something is horribly wrong with me. COLE: That's because he doesn't know who you are, which means it's gonna take a bigger jolt from you to jog his memory. PIPER (SPIRIT): You know, it's odd how invested you are in all of this, considering I'm the one who helped vanquish you. COLE: Well, you know, bygones and all, but you're changing the subject. PIPER (SPIRIT): Yes, I am, (Piper stands up.) and this is not gonna go any further until you tell me what you're getting out of this. COLE: Me? (Piper nods.) I don't know what you're talking about. (Cole turns and walks away, avoiding the question.) PIPER (SPIRIT): Come on, Cole. I know you just as well as you think you know me. So if you want me to trust you, then you need to come clean first. (Cole thinks about it and answers.) COLE: I don't want Phoebe to give up on love. PIPER (SPIRIT): What? COLE: She hasn't been able to find love since me or at least hold onto it. And I know that's ... my fault. PIPER (SPIRIT): Well, maybe you should have thought of that before you decided to become the source of all things evil. COLE: Look, I already feel guilty enough, all right? PIPER (SPIRIT): Then why aren't you talking to Phoebe about this instead of me? COLE: Because you're my only hope. I'm cursed to live in eternity without love for what I've done, and I accept that. But I don't want Phoebe to be cursed, too. She needs love. She --she deserves it. But she's not going to keep looking for it unless you give her a reason to. Now, you and Leo are that reason. PIPER (SPIRIT): Okay. All right. So how do I do this love beacon thing? COLE: All you need to do is let go so that you can move onto the next cosmic plane. PIPER (SPIRIT): Oh, I see. You mean the one where I'm dead. COLE: I know it sounds crazy, but it's the only way to get through to Leo. PIPER (SPIRIT): No. I can't. I have a family. I have boys that need me. Besides, that doesn't even make any sense. COLE: Yes, it does. Think about how a person halfway across the world knows the instant their loved one is hit by a car. It's because they're struck with a sudden burst of love, a -- a psychic shock. The kind of shock that can only come from the total loss of a loved one. You need to let go. (As Piper listens, what he's saying makes sense to her.) COLE: You need to die. PIPER (SPIRIT): And what happens when that doesn't work? What happens when he doesn't feel this psychic jolt? Then I'm just plain dead. I can't take that chance. Besides, my sisters will figure out a way to save me. They always do. COLE: But then you risk losing Leo and your boys for good. Can you take that chance? (Piper turns and glares at Cole.) CUT TO: [INT. BIG RIG (STOPPED) - CROSSROADS - DAY] (The big rig comes to a stop at the intersection where highway 40 meets highway 87.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Well, this is where I head north. What's it gonna be? LEO: I've been thinking a lot about that work you're doing. ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): I can assure you, there is nothing more rewarding. LEO: (nods) It would be nice to have a sense of purpose. (Odin looks in the side view mirror and sees the car stopping just behind him.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): You need to make a choice. Every man does. LEO: I know. [INT. TRUCK (STOPPED) - ROADWAY - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe and Paige unbuckle their seat belts.) PHOEBE: This has to be it. I hope we're not too late. (They open their doors and get out.) CUT TO: [INT. BIG RIG (STOPPED) - ROADWAY - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (Leo sits quietly listening.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Your destiny lies ahead of you. (Odin looks in the side-view mirrors and sees Phoebe slamming the truck door shut and running toward them. Off screen, we hear the second truck door slam shut.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): Which way is it gonna be? LEO: Let's go. (Pleased, Odin slaps his hand against Leo's leg.) ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): You've made the right decision. (Odin reaches for the ignition.) (Suddenly, the passenger door opens. Phoebe and Paige are there on the road looking up at Leo.) PAIGE: Oh. Leo. Thank god. LEO: Sorry. Do I know you? (Odin leans forward, looking at them.) PHOEBE: What are you doing here, and what did you do to Leo? ODIN (AS TRUCK DRIVER): We let destiny run its course, and so should you. (Odin puts his hand on Leo's shoulder and orbs them both out of the big rig.) (Camera holds on Phoebe and Paige.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) -- NIGHT] [INT MANOR - SITTING ROOM - NIGHT] (Piper is still on the couch when Paige, Phoebe and Drake orb into the sitting room.) PAIGE: Piper? (Paige walks over to check on Piper.) DRAKE: I got to you as soon as I could. PHOEBE: The damn Elders. None of this would be happening if they didn't take Leo. (In the living room, Spirit Piper and Cole watch.) PAIGE: Okay, you know what? You're right. We have to get the Elders down here. They're the only ones who can help now. DRAKE: That won't do any good. Even if they heal her body, only Leo can heal her soul. PAIGE: Well, unfortunately, Leo chose the Elders over Piper. It's not like we can get him here and force him to remember his wife. COLE: (quietly to Piper) But you can. And you'd better do it fast. Trust me. It's your only hope. And hers. Your destiny is with Leo. You need to learn to trust that. (Spirit Piper turns and glances at Cole. She makes her decision and takes a deep breath.) (Spirit Piper fades away.) (White orb lights appear where Spirit Piper was and moves across the living room heading back toward Piper's body on the couch.) PHOEBE: This can't be a dead end. PAIGE: You know what? Let me double-check the book. (The white orb lights dissipate into Piper.) DRAKE: I was very thorough. There's nothing there. (Piper gasps.) PHOEBE: What? What was that? PIPER: Leo. (Phoebe gets an idea.) PHOEBE: Wait. I know what to do. (She holds her hand out to Paige.) Orb me to the bridge. PAIGE: No, she just woke up. We can't just leave her. DRAKE: I'll stay with her. You go work on her spirit. PHOEBE: (insistent) Bridge, now! (Paige grabs Phoebe's hand and orbs the two of them out of the room.) (Cole watches as Piper gasps for breath. Drake looks at Cole's direction, gets an idea, then quickly turns and walks out of camera frame.) COLE: (quietly) You can do it, Piper. (Piper's head moves from side to side as she clings to life.) CUT TO: [EXT. GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE - TALLEST TOWER - NIGHT] (Paige and Phoebe appear on the top of the tallest tower on the Golden Gate Bridge. Phoebe looks up and starts talking to the sky.) PHOEBE: Look, we know you have Leo! Bring him down here now. (Odin and Leo orb onto the tower.) PHOEBE: Leo, Piper's dying. You have to come with us. LEO: I'm sorry. Who? (Leo looks at Odin.) ODIN: He doesn't know who she is or who you are. PAIGE: You did this to him. ODIN: Leo has chosen his own path. PHOEBE: By you leading him there? How is this a fair test? ODIN: Some things are so important that they cannot be left to chance. PAIGE: You need to come home now because Piper needs you. LEO: Well, I'm there for all those in need. PAIGE: Look, this is not a test. ODIN: He's made his own decision. It's done. PHOEBE: No, it's not done. Leo and Piper are still in love. You can erase his memory, but you can't erase that. It'll seep into his consciousness until he remembers. ODIN: I know this is a great loss for you and that you're going to need time to mourn. PHOEBE: No. We won't. Because he's not gonna leave. You can't take him away from Piper. (Leo looks away as something has his attention.) PHOEBE: Look, their love is true. It's a true love, and it's bigger than you and -- and The Elders and all of this. (Something is bothering Leo.) [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (Piper gasps.) PIPER: (faintly) Leo. [EXT. GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE - TALLEST TOWER - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (Back on the bridge, Leo hears her.) [PIPER] (Piper's eyes open wide as she turns to the side, looking for Leo. She gasps for breath.) [LEO] (Leo turns around.) [PIPER] (Piper closes her eyes and relaxes as she loses consciousness.) (Her hand falls lifelessly to the side.) [LEO] (Leo slowly turns way from Odin.) LEO: (whispers) Piper. (Odin looks at Leo.) PHOEBE: Leo? (Leo steps to the edge of the bridge.) PHOEBE: Leo, what are you doing? (Odin looks from Leo to Phoebe and Paige.) PAIGE: Leo? (Leo spreads his arms out away from him and falls of the edge of the bridge.) (Odin looks down, surprised to see Leo falling. He turns and looks at Phoebe and Paige.) [LEO] (Leo falls.) (His Elder robes vanish.) (He hits the bridge with a thud.) (Phoebe and Paige orb in.) PHOEBE: Oh, my god. Leo. (Phoebe kneels down next to Leo to check on him. Orin orbs in.) LEO: Phoebe. (He turns around, the side of his face battered and bruised.) PAIGE: What the hell just happened? ODIN: He has fallen from grace. PHOEBE: Leo, are you okay? LEO: Take me to Piper. She needs me. ODIN: Destiny has spoken. He's made his choice. He's mortal now. (They look at Leo.) ODIN: You should hurry. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (Drake is kneeling in front of the couch. The camera rises from behind so we see Drake looking at Piper and we see Paige, Phoebe and Leo orbing in at the back of the room.) (Drake hears them and turns.) DRAKE: You're too late. (Drake stands up to show Wyatt healing Piper.) DRAKE: Wyatt already healed her. (Paige, Phoebe and Leo step forward.) PAIGE: Wyatt? PHOEBE: Thank god. (Completely healed, Piper sits up and smiles at Wyatt.) PIPER: Good job, baby. (Phoebe sits down next to Piper. Leo kneels down in front of Piper.) (Paige glances at Drake.) PAIGE: Ah, okay. How did you know he could do that? DRAKE: I didn't. He did. (He indicates Leo.) Even put it in the Book. (Piper looks at Leo and smiles.) Looks like you got a second-generation Whitelighter on your hands. PHOEBE: Did you heal your mommy? You're such a big boy. I'm so proud of you. (Phoebe kisses Wyatt's hands.) (Piper looks at Leo.) PIPER: I thought you were never gonna find your way home. LEO: It was your faith that brought me back. I could hear you calling me, like you were right there next to me. PIPER: I had a good coach. (Leo looks puzzled.) PIPER: An old friend. (Piper glances at Phoebe.) I'll explain later. (She reaches out and gently turns Leo's head to look at the bruises on the side of his face.) PIPER: That looks like it hurts. LEO: Yeah. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that we're together again. I'm never leaving you again. (Piper and Leo hold each other. Piper picks Wyatt up.) PIPER: Come here, buddy. Come here. (She sets him on her lap between herself and Leo.) PIPER: Look who it is. Can you give daddy a hug? Hug, hug, hug. (They share a family hug.) LEO: Ooh. CUT TO: [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO SCENE (STOCK)] DRAKE: (v.o.) Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore, ... [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL - NIGHT] (Drake reaches for a book.) DRAKE: ... so do our minutes hasten to their end. PHOEBE: I'm gonna miss Shakespeare. DRAKE: Mm. That's why I left you this. (He gives her the book.) The complete works to peruse at your leisure. PHOEBE: Thank you. I can't believe it's been three weeks already. I mean, so much has happened. DRAKE: I know. It's been such a whirlwind. The burlesque, huh? Big fan. Sherwood Forest. I mean, come on. Hold the tights. Thank you very much. And a real life Romeo and Juliet. PHOEBE: That's just a typical week for us. DRAKE: What do you expect? Come on. You're Charmed. PHOEBE: Mm. You really helped me move on. Thank you. DRAKE: Are you kidding? Thank you. I couldn't think of a better day to die. PHOEBE: Mm. DRAKE: Sorry. I also helped you find love, didn't I? PHOEBE: Mm. DRAKE: Come on. I did, didn't I? (She shrugs.) Come on. I did. I did. (She smiles.) PHOEBE: Yeah. You did. DRAKE: Whoo. Close one. If that doesn't get me in heaven, I don't know what will. PHOEBE: I'll never forget what you did for me. I guess I fell for the right guy this time. DRAKE: 'Parting is such sweet sorrow.' He was right. I never knew what that meant till right now. PHOEBE: I just -- I have to ask you one question, okay? How is it that you came into my life at the exact right time? DRAKE: Oh. A little bird told me. Come on. What's magic without a little mystery? DRAKE: Right. Travel checklist. Uh, leave reference books for next instructor, bring a little wisdom to some young minds, save epic love ... (He looks at Phoebe.) ... bask in your loving gaze. Yeah, that about covers it. (He sighs.) DRAKE: Alas. Pumpkin time. No need you watching my messy demise. (Drake gets up. Phoebe stops him and pulls him back to sit down next to her. They kiss.) DRAKE: (whispers) Think of me when you dance. (Drake gets up and walks out of the Great Hall. He does a Gene Kelly foot side out of the room and into the hallway.) (The doors start to close behind him.) (Phoebe sits on the couch.) PHOEBE: I'll miss you. (The doors close leaving Phoebe alone inside.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - HALLWAY - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (Drake walks out into the hallway. He rubs a hand against the back of his neck.) COLE: (o.s.) You did good. (Drake stops.) (Behind him, Cole appears.) DRAKE: Thanks. (Drake turns around and looks at Cole.) DRAKE: So did you. (Drake walks toward Cole.) DRAKE: I couldn't have tasted life unless you set me up with that sorcerer. I just wish I could save you, too. COLE: I've come to terms with my fate, especially now that I know it won't be Phoebe's, too. DRAKE: That was a pretty bold move sending in those thorn demons. COLE: Well, I had to risk everything for this one. DRAKE: Understandably. (The clock chimes the hour.) DRAKE: Oh, well. Here I go. (As the chimes end, Drake collapses to the floor.) (His spirit rises and he turns around to look back at his body just as it turns into dust, vanishing from sight.) (Drake stands up.) DRAKE (SPIRIT): Okay, that was interesting. Ashes to ashes, huh? COLE: If it's any consolation, you did all that I asked for. You saved Phoebe. DRAKE (SPIRIT): I did more than that, Buddy. I fell in love with her. COLE: Understandably. DRAKE (SPIRIT): Farewell, my friend. (Drake reaches for the heavens. He turns into white orb lights and heads upward, vanishing in front of Cole.) (Cole takes a deep breath. He turns around and vanishes.) CUT TO: [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO SCENES (STOCK) - NIGHT TO DAWN] [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - MORNING] [INT. MANOR - PIPER'S BEDROOM - MORNING] (Leo sits on the seat near the window looking outside. Behind him still in bed, Piper is just beginning to wake up.) (She gets up and finds Leo sitting near the window.) PIPER: Leo, are you okay? LEO: I just can't believe it. I don't have powers anymore. I don't hear jingling. I can't orb. (Piper sits up.) PIPER: (sighs) Is that bad? LEO: Are you kidding? (He turns around and smiles at her.) LEO: It's great. It's everything I've wanted ever since the day I met you. (He gets up and walks over to her.
