It opens with a burst of flames, the title words are in gold with a glowing athame between them. Cheesy Reality Show music plays.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (v.o.) Welcome back to Witch Wars. (The title screen segues into various still shots of this episode: PAIGE, LEO and CHRIS are in the Sitting Room; PHOEBE, PAIGE, CHRIS and TALI are in the attic; CHRIS, PAIGE and TALI are in the sitting room; A Close up of PAIGE; PHOEBE in her office; and a still shot from 6X18: Spin City of PHOEBE, PAIGE and PIPER in the wooded area just outside the Spider Demon's cave.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (v.o.) Tonight, on a very special episode, you'll see the ultimate battle when the Gamemasters themselves take on, not just any witches, but the legendary Charmed Ones. (The still shots end and the GameMaster Corr shimmers into the studio on screen in front of a monitor with the WITCH WARS title screen on it.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (v.o.) It'll be winner takes all, and we will take all: Their lives, their powers, and last but not least, their progeny. FADE TO BLACK: [BLACK SCREEN] (Flaming letters appear in red/gold old-type font in the center of the screen.) 12 HOURS EARLIER FADE IN. [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL - DAY] (PIPER walks into the Great Hall followed by CHRIS. PAIGE and PHOEBE are already there sitting at the table in the center of the room. They prepare to have a meeting.) PIPER: Sorry I'm late. I'm not moving real fast these days. (to CHRIS) Are you sure you don't wanna be born any time soon already? (CHRIS helps her sit down.) CHRIS: Don't be in such a hurry. PHOEBE: Ok, I hate to rush things, but what do you say we get this family meeting started, huh? PIPER: You know, you could cut back on those triple lattes a little bit. PAIGE: Hey, where's Leo? (Behind the main table, GIDEON looks up from the book he's reading.) GIDEON: He's on the witch-killer path, which you all should be focusing on as well. PHOEBE: We actually have bigger things to deal with, Gideon. Like trying to figure out who's after Wyatt. And I think I might have an angle on that. PAIGE: You found the demon? PHOEBE: It may not be a demon. Look, we've relied on magic all this time, and it's gotten us nowhere. And since I can't rely on my premonitions to help, I've had to resort to statistics. PIPER: Statistics? PHOEBE: Yes. Did you know that fifty percent of violent crimes are perpetrated by someone the victim knew? So, don't you see? Whoever turns Wyatt evil might actually be someone we know or even care about. GIDEON: A mortal? Impossible. PHOEBE: Really? Because the crime reporter at the newspaper said that it's usually someone you least expect. PIPER: All right, now you're making me nervous. (GIDEON shuts his book and steps around the table toward them.) GIDEON: Phoebe ... this theory might make some sense in the lives of normal people, but you aren't normal people. There's an entire underworld of demons out there who want you dead, and today is no exception, which brings me back to the witch-killer. CHRIS: Hold up. (CHRIS gets to his feet and takes a couple of steps toward GIDEON.) CHRIS: Phoebe's onto something here. I mean, we've practically overturned every demonic stone, right? I mean, at least this is something new. GIDEON: I don't believe this. Someone is killing witches, possibly as we speak. How is that not your only priority? CHRIS: Because we're running out of time, that's why. (This stops everyone.) PIPER: What do you mean? Why? CHRIS: (sighs) I should've told you sooner. PAIGE: (warily) Told us what? CHRIS: What happens to Wyatt happens before I'm born. (A look of worry crosses PIPER'S face. She remains conspicuously silent.) PAIGE: What? PHOEBE: And you're just telling us this now?! CHRIS: I thought I'd given myself enough time. I'm so sorry. GIDEON: Then how do we know ... that this witch-killer isn't the one that's after Wyatt? Given this new information, it seems to time out properly. PHOEBE: Ok, it's time to divide and conquer. Paige and Chris, you help Leo with the witch-killer. I'm gonna go chase my theory. Piper, don't worry. We're gonna find this guy. I promise. (PHOEBE leaves the room. GIDEON, worried now of being discovered, turns away from the group and heads for his office.) CUT TO: [CLOSE UP: CRYSTAL BALL] [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL -- GIDEON'S OFFICE - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (SIGMUND uses a soft cloth to polish the crystal ball. He looks up as he hears approaching footsteps.) (GIDEON walks into the office and telekinetically closes the door in frustration. He doesn't see SIGMUND there.) SIGMUND: Is something wrong, sir? (GIDEON turns to look at SIGMUND.) GIDEON: Yes, as a matter of fact, there is. I think they're just about to figure us out. FADE TO END OF TEASER ROLL TITLE CREDITS (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO CITY (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (PAIGE holds a crystal in her hand and slams it down over the magical net. Immediately, the device is activated. The APPRENTICE DEMON, spread-eagled on the carpet floor and caught in the magical net, cries out in pain.) APPRENTICE DEMON: Aah! (She pulls the crystal off the net and it stops.) APPRENTICE DEMON: What did I ever do to you?! (CHRIS sits on the side watching her.) CHRIS: You're sure he's a demon, right? APPRENTICE DEMON: Does that give you the right to commit unprovoked acts of violence against me? (PAIGE slams the crystal in her hand on the magical net again, activating it once more. The demon cries out in pain.) APPRENTICE DEMON: Aah! PAIGE: Tell us everything you know about the witches that were murdered. APPRENTICE DEMON: I don't know anything. I swear. (Again, PAIGE activates the crystal net.) APPRENTICE DEMON: Aah! (She pulls the crystal off the net and it stops.) APPRENTICE DEMON: Oh -- oh, the--the witches. Well, the one last night, she -- she put on a great show. She shot fire from her hands, and-and-and she put up a great fight. (Disgusted by the response, PAIGE picks up the vanquishing potion from the floor next to her and throws it at the APPRENTICE DEMON. He explodes.) APPRENTICE DEMON: Aah! (The demon dust rises up into the air and vanishes. CHRIS gets to his feet.) CHRIS: Why did you just do that? He was just starting to talk. PAIGE: He was lying. "A," there was no witch murdered last night; and "B" ... (She stops as LEO orbs into the attic.) LEO: Another witch was killed last night. (PAIGE looks at LEO, surprised by this information.) CHRIS: (to PAIGE) You were saying? PAIGE: Ok, that's just a coincidence. There's no way he could've been there to see that. CHRIS: (to LEO) Did she have power to shoot fire out of her hands? LEO: Yeah. How did you know? CHRIS: More to the point, how did he know? (indicating the just-vanquished demon) LEO: Huh? CHRIS: (to PAIGE) Maybe he was working for an upper-level demon. PAIGE: Oh, right, we just happened to trap the apprentice to the exact demon we're trying to catch and know nothing about. (She and CHRIS start picking up the crystals off the floor.) LEO: What are we talking about? CHRIS: Oh, the fact that Paige just vanquished our lucky break. (CHRIS hands the crystals to PAIGE. She scrunches her nose at him and sighs.) PAIGE: You don't know that. LEO: What do we know? (PAIGE puts the crystals back in the box.) PAIGE: Well, we know that one demon can't possibly be doing all of these killings, and I'm thinking that someone is getting demons to join forces. LEO: So, you think somebody is trying to organize the underworld? PAIGE: Seems like it. And, unfortunately, I seem to be the only person that is concerned about the fact that Phoebe is out there roaming around in the world without any powers. CHRIS: Without her active powers. She can still cast spells. PAIGE: Right. So when the demon attacks her, let's hope that Phoebe can come up with a little rhyme just in time. No, no, no. I'm gonna go bring her some potions. CHRIS: Well, what should we do? PAIGE: Pray that she doesn't get attacked. (CHRIS nods as PAIGE turns to leave the attic with the potion vials in her hands.) CUT TO: [EXT. SATELLITE TOP-VIEW: EARTH] (High above the atmosphere the camera is pointed down to the earth below, the camera dives down quickly toward the city below.) [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN)] (At the Witch Wars Broadcasting Studio, CORR and CLEA, the Gamemasters of the broadcast show, escort an UPPER-LEVEL DEMON around the place.) UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: And what do I get out of it? CORR: Fame, glory, the respect of the entire underworld, and, of course, the powers of the witch you kill. CLEA: If you win. UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: If I play, I'll win. CORR: A demon of your considerable power, we have no doubt -- as long as it's entertaining. UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: Just out of curiosity, how did you come up with the idea, anyway? CLEA: Well, we can't take all the credit. You'd think demons would've invented reality television, but somehow humans beat us to it. (They turn and enter the control booth.) [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) - CONTROL BOOTH -- CONTINUOUS] (CORR shows the UPPER LEVEL DEMON the controls.) CORR: Still, it's the best idea we ever stole, and demons everywhere love to watch. So, if you're ready to play, just draw your blood and sign on the dotted line. (He picks up an athame and the magical contract.) UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: Draw my blood? Why? CORR: So that your powers, should you for any reason lose, will revert to us. UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: My powers? You gotta be kiddin' me. There's no way I'm -- CORR: I'm sorry. I thought you were planning to win. CLEA: And if you don't, you'll be dead, so you won't need your powers anyway. UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: But it doesn't mean I want you to have 'em. It's quite a racket you've got goin' on here. Get all these guys to sign their powers over to you and to risk their lives, all for some chance to kill some stupid witch. (The UPPER LEVEL DEMON turns to leave the control booth. CORR puts the contract and athame down quickly and follows the DEMON out of the room.) CORR: The witch is not the point. The point is fame. The point is -- UPPER-LEVEL DEMON: ... Fortune. Yeah, I got it, and that may work on the silly morons you have playing this game so far, but it won't work on me. (The UPPER LEVEL DEMON shimmers out of the cave.) CLEA: (frustrated) Ohh! If we don't get an upper-level demon to play, we will never collect the powers we need. CORR: We just have to be patient. As the game gains in popularity, more and more powerful demons will want to play. CLEA: How do you know? CORR: Because if human beings are foaming at the mouth to humiliate themselves on national television -- and they are -- then demons are an easy mark. CLEA: Upper-level humans? (He grabs her hand and pulls her toward him.) CORR: Donald Trump has his own show. CLEA: Mmm. (He pulls her even closer. She smiles.) CORR: Just be patient, my love, and together we'll rule the underworld. (They chuckle and lean toward each other to kiss. They're close enough for their lips to touch, when they're rudely interrupted.) GIDEON: (o.s.) It's an old goal, but a good one. (They look around and see no one there. CORR powers up a fireball and holds it in the palm of his hand. He again looks around, but sees no on there.) GIDEON: (o.s.) Disarm, and I will reveal myself. (CORR powers down. GIDEON appears sitting in a chair.) CORR: (to CLEA) What is that, an Elder? CLEA: Kill him. (Again, CORR powers up another fireball.) GIDEON: What I have to offer is far better than anything my death will ever bring you. (GIDEON gets to his feet. CORR powers down to listen.) CUT TO: [INT. THE BAY MIRROR - BULLPEN -- DAY] (PHOEBE walks out of her office toward KYLE DONIE, the Crime Beat Investigative Reporter, who is busy typing out his article to meet a deadline.) PHOEBE: Hi. I'm sorry to bother you again. You seem super busy. You're always super busy. KYLE DONIE: That's why I chose crime beat. So many bad guys, I knew I'd never be out of work. (PHOEBE laughs.) PHOEBE: That's funny. You are funny. Um ... thanks for those statistics yesterday. They really helped me a lot. KYLE DONIE: Are you flirting with me? PHOEBE: What? KYLE DONIE: 'Cause when a woman who looks like you flirts with me, it generally means they want something. PHOEBE: Ok, yeah. You got me. Um, I'm interested in dedicating a month of my column to the protection of our children, and I was sort of wondering, you know, if something -- god forbid -- were to happen to my nephew Wyatt, what do you think the police might do to try to figure out who did it? KYLE DONIE: They'd make a flow chart. PHOEBE: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. A--a what? KYLE DONIE: You do realize that I'm on a deadline here, right? PHOEBE: Should I go back to the flirting? KYLE DONIE: I guess I could use some coffee. PHOEBE: That's great. You're great! I'm buyin'! (KYLE DONIE stands up, but continues to type. PHOEBE turns around to head back to her office when she sees PAIGE orb into her office. PAIGE waves at her frantically.) PHOEBE: Oh, my god! KYLE DONIE: What? PHOEBE: Uh, you gotta just give me just one second. (KYLE sits back down at his desk. PHOEBE rushes into her office.) [INT. THE BAY MIRROR -- PHOEBE'S OFFICE - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (She shuts the door and closes the blinders.) PHOEBE: Have you lost your mind? PAIGE: No. Another witch was killed last night. PHOEBE: Oh, no. PAIGE: Oh, yes! And she had active powers, so I need you to go home where I can keep an eye on you. PHOEBE: Paige, you're my baby sister, not my baby-sitter. PAIGE: Oh, that's clever. You're very clever. I'm glad that while I'm panicking, you have the time to be clever. PHOEBE: Ok, it's very sweet that you're worried about me, but I am fine, and I have a lot of work to do here. PAIGE: Great. Do your work from home. PHOEBE: I can't do it from home because Kyle Donie is not at home. PAIGE: Who is Kyle Donie? Is this about a guy? PHOEBE: No, it's not about a guy. It's about a reporter, one who knows everything there is to know about crime and criminal investigation and since we don't have Darryl's help anymore, he's the only resource I have. PAIGE: Fine. (PAIGE hands her the potions vials as she tells her what they are.) Explosive, acid, smoke bomb. Use them. PHOEBE: Thanks, mom. (PAIGE orbs out.) [INT. THE BAY MIRROR - BULLPEN - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (PHOEBE exits her office and shuts the door behind her. She walks over to KYLE DONIE'S desk.) PHOEBE: Ok, uh, where were we? KYLE DONIE: Oh, uh, you were flirting with me poorly, and I was helping you find your bad guy. CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN)] (GIDEON starts on his deal while CORR casually changes jackets.) GIDEON: If I could find you through my demonic contacts, then how long do you think it'll be before The Charmed Ones find you and shut you down? They already know about the witch-killing, so it's really only a matter of time. CLEA: And you're here to warn us? GIDEON: No, I'm here to help you. (CLEA scoffs.) CORR: Now, why don't I believe that? GIDEON: I need The Charmed Ones distracted for a while whilst I accomplish an important mission. And I thought your game might be the perfect thing. CORR: You want us to target The Charmed Ones? GIDEON: No, I want you to use them. Make them your next stunt, if you will. We'll plant a witch in their care, have her be the next target in your game. Your contestants will have to get past them to get to her. CLEA: Get past the Power of Three? That's a suicide mission. No one will sign up. GIDEON: The Power of Three isn't a factor at the moment because Piper is convalescing at my school for the duration of her pregnancy. CORR: It would draw upper-level demons. CLEA: I don't trust him. Why would an Elder wanna sacrifice an innocent witch or put The Charmed Ones in danger? GIDEON: I don't, and that's part of the deal. There will be no blood drawn. You will set up a series of tasks, have the demons, oh, I don't know, steal something from the witch to begin with, let it escalate from there. CLEA: Steal something? GIDEON: If you kill innocents or in any way harm Charmed Ones, then your game will be over and you will be dead. Understand? CLEA: We don't take kindly to threats, Elder. CORR: Or, um ... how would we, uh, put the witch target into their care or, say, put them under surveillance? GIDEON: Get the contestants ready. Put a witch under non-lethal attack, and I'll take care of the rest. The cameras? (CORR walks over to the table and picks up a box with five black crystals inside. GIDEON picks up the crystals. In the back, we see the crystals activated and a close-up of GIDEON appears on the wall monitor behind him.) (GIDEON turns around and notes himself on the monitors.) GIDEON: Clever. CLEA: Thanks. (He puts the crystals back in the box. CORR closes the box. GIDEON: Don't disappoint me. (GIDEON orbs out.) (CORR chuckles. CLEA turns around and whacks him on the arm.) CLEA: What's the matter with you? Why do you trust him? CORR: I don't. But with all the powers that we'll get from the demons who sign up, we'll have more than enough to kill him when the time comes, as well as The Charmed Ones. (CLEA laughs as she hears his plan. She playfully scratches his chest with her nails in a cat-like manner, then reaches up and kisses him.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - SITTING ROOM - DAY] (LEO and CHRIS are in the sitting room. CHRIS sits on the couch flipping through the Book of Shadows while LEO sits on the couch arm rest watching.) LEO: So what is it we're looking for? CHRIS: Uh, any demon that could be powerful enough to be organizing the underworld, or any demon who might be running some sort of training camp for younger demons, or any demon who could be -- LEO: So basically 'any demon'. (CHRIS stops and sighs.) CHRIS: Yeah. (He flips through a couple more pages in the Book of Shadows, then finally leans back, tired and frustrated.) CHRIS: This sucks, you know that? We're running out of time here, and we've got nothing -- repeat, nothing -- to go on. LEO: We've faced worse. CHRIS: What's worse than not knowing? For over a year now, I've been looking, and you didn't know this deadline was looming? But I did. I knew every single day. That's why I was never able to relax. LEO: Why didn't you tell us? CHRIS: Because I didn't wanna get you involved. I was trying to protect you. LEO: Chris ... we're your parents. We're supposed to protect you, not the other way around. (CHRIS nods a bit at that.) (PAIGE orbs into the room. She's carrying a small purchase bag.) PAIGE: Hey. I got a new scrying crystal. Amethyst. I thought we could use the extra power boost. (She walks over to the table with the map on it.) LEO: What exactly are we scrying for? PAIGE: Witches under attack. I don't want any more of them getting killed, and that includes my sister, who is now determined to stay at the office, ever since your son dropped his little bomb this morning. CHRIS: I already said I was sorry. LEO: And he shouldn't have to say it again. PAIGE: All right, "Dad". (CHRIS looks gratefully at LEO for his support. GIDEON orbs into the house. LEO gets to his feet.) LEO: Gideon, what are you doing here? Is Piper ok? GIDEON: Hardly. Thanks to Phoebe's ludicrous new theory, everybody's now a suspect in her mind. She's terrorizing the entire school. LEO: So you want me to talk to her? GIDEON: I'd be eternally grateful. (LEO orbs out. GIDEON turns and sees PAIGE scrying with her new crystal.) GIDEON: What are you scrying for? (CHRIS gets to his feet, hops over the couch and stands on the other side of the table.) PAIGE: Witches under attack. (With both their attention on the table and map, GIDEON waves his hand -- magically causing the crystal to land on a spot on the map.) PAIGE: Ooh ... got one. In the mission. GIDEON: You should both go. Hurry. (CHRIS nods. He and PAIGE both orb out.) (Alone in the manor, GIDEON raises his hands, palms up and the crystal camera box appears. With a look, he opens the box.) (With a waves of his hand, he sends three of the black crystals up into the top corners of the walls. They magically embed themselves in the wall and away from view.) (When he's placed all five crystals, GIDEON closes the box and heads out.) CUT TO: [INT. ALLEYWAY - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (TALI, the latest witch under attack, is thrown high against the alley wall. The BALD-HEADED DEMON laughs as he approaches her. She scrambles to her feet and picks up a pipe lying on the floor. She swings. And misses. She swings again. And misses again.) (The BALD-HEADED DEMON laughs and walks toward her.) TALI: Don't! (screams) Help! (She backs up and passes an old mattress leaning against the alley wall. The mattress morphs into a SHAPESHIFTING DEMON.) SHAPESHIFTER: Not what you were hoping for? (TALI turns around and finds the SHAPESHIFTER on her other side. She swings the pipe and clips the SHAPESHIFTER in the face. He goes down and is out for the moment. She turns and swings the pipe again at the BALD-HEADED DEMON. She misses.) (Off to the side, PAIGE and CHRIS orb into the alley. PAIGE throws the vanquishing potion at the BALD-HEADED DEMON, hitting him in the chest. He explodes.) (A third BURLY DEMON shimmers in behind TALI. He grabs her and rips her necklace off from around her neck. He throws her aside and she hits the alley floor with a thud. The BURLY DEMON holds up the necklace in triumph and looks at The Charmed Ones.) DEMON: (smugly) Got it. SHAPESHIFTER: Damn it! (The SHAPESHIFTER shimmers out in defeat.) (CHRIS and PAIGE rush over to TALI to help her up.) CHRIS: What the hell just happened? PAIGE: I don't know. TALI: Wait, who are you? PAIGE: Uh, I'm a Charmed ... One. Um, come on. I'll take you somewhere safe, ok? (They all orb out.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (They orb into the manor.) TALI: Where are we? PAIGE: It's ok. You're gonna be safe here. What's your name, anyway? TALI: I'm Tali. How can I ever thank you guys for saving me? PAIGE: Ok, I don't think you need to, because I don't think we did. I'm not even sure they were after you. CHRIS: Yeah, they were after your necklace. (She looks down and puts a hand to her neck only noticing now that the necklace is gone.) TALI: Oh, my grandmother's amulet. CHRIS: Amulet. (CHRIS looks at PAIGE, his mind working overtime to find a reason for the attack.) CHRIS: Is it magical? Does it have any power? [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) -- CONTINUOUS] (We see the scene continue on the monitors in the Broadcast Studio.) TALI: No. No, not at all. PAIGE: (puts a hand to her head) Ohh, this is all very strange. (The scene fades out and the WITCH WARS eye-catch airs.) (The BURLY DEMON who just nabbed the necklace is appalled by the revelation. He holds it up.) BURLY DEMON: Wait ... this thing is powerless? Then why did you want us to steal it? (The camera pulls back and CORR walks on screen. The SHAPESHIFTER is also standing there in the studio.) CORR: It got The Charmed Ones involved, didn't it? (CORR glances at the camera.) SHAPESHIFTER: (crosses his arms in front of him) So when do we get our shot at them? (The camera continues to pull back. CORR turns to the SHAPESHIFTER.) CORR: Be patient. This was only round one. (As the camera continues to pull back, we notice that we're watching the studio scene on another large wall monitor.) [INT. DEMONIC BAR - CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, CORR turns to address the camera audience.) CORR: Stay tuned. (He smiles.) (Camera shows various shots of the demonic bar. It's crowded with a large audience, laughing, drinking and chatting.) (The all-too familiar reality show theme starts up and the audience whoops it up loudly. The WITCH WARS title screen logo appears on the monitor as they break for commercials - or whatever. The DEMONIC CROWD in the Bar bursts into applause.) FADE OUT (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - HALLWAY -- DAY] (PIPER turns the corner and makes her way down the hall. She pushes WYATT'S baby stroller as she heads for MRS. WINTERBOURNE walking across the hall.) PIPER: (sternly) Mrs. Winterbourne? Hold it right there. (MRS. WINTERBOURNE stops and smiles at PIPER and WYATT.) MRS. WINTERBOURNE: Oh, hi, Wyatt. Hi, Piper. PIPER: Never mind that. I just wanted you to know that Wyatt will not be in your class tomorrow or ever again, for that matter. MRS. WINTERBOURNE: Why? Is there a problem? PIPER: A problem? You mean like when Wyatt was playing with that little girl at the play-doh table this morning? MRS. WINTERBOURNE: You mean Emily? She's such a sweet little psychic. PIPER: She stole his dough, right out of his hands, and you did absolutely nothing. MRS. WINTERBOURNE: Well, "stole" is a little harsh, don't you think? She's only two years old. (LEO turns the corner and hears part of the conversation. He's looking for PIPER. Seeing her, he heads in her direction.) PIPER: No. That's not the point. What message is this sending to him? That people can just take from him, that people can hurt him, that grown adults will not be there to protect him? LEO: (interrupts) Piper. PIPER: What? LEO: We need to talk. (to MRS. WINTERBOURNE) Would you mind taking Wyatt for a stroll just for a minute? PIPER: (shocked) What?! (MRS. WINTERBOURNE smiles at LEO. He reassures her.) LEO: It's all right. Go ahead. (MRS. WINTERBOURNE takes the stroller from PIPER.) MRS. WINTERBOURNE: I'll be right over there. (She leans over the stroller to WYATT.) Come on. (She pushes the stroller away and down the hall. PIPER looks at LEO. They start walking down the hallway.) PIPER: Are you out of your mind? LEO: Piper, do you realize you're driving everybody nuts around here? PIPER: Well, I don't really care, 'cause, see, I'm trying to protect our son. LEO: From who, his "Mommy and Me" teacher? (PIPER stops and points in the general direction behind her where MRS. WINTERBOURNE took WYATT.) PIPER: Hey, how do you not know that she's the one who's after him? If Phoebe's right-- LEO: She's not. PIPER: How do you know? LEO: Because why would anybody we know want to turn Wyatt evil? It just doesn't make any sense, just like Gideon said. PIPER: How do you know it's not him ... or us, for that matter? LEO: Piper. PIPER: No, I'm serious. What if he saw what this life did to us and how hard it was and just decided to take the easy way out? LEO: That's not what happened. PIPER: How do you know? LEO: Because Wyatt is surrounded by love. We love him, whether we're together or not. He's got a brother that risked everything just to save his life. Plus, he's got two aunts who would rather gouge out their own eyes than see anything bad happen to him. (PIPER looks away for a moment. Everything he said is true. Still, she can't help but be worried. She quietly steps toward him and he holds her to him. She sighs into his shoulder.) PIPER: Just promise me we'll keep him safe. LEO: I promise. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - NIGHT] (CHRIS flips the pages of the Book of Shadows over rapidly passing pages on COLLECTORS and FAMILIARS. She turns to the page on the BRUTE DEMON. PAIGE gasps and stops them from turning the page.) PAIGE: That's -- that's him. The Brute Demon. CHRIS: Okay. (reading) "Upper-level demons with overwhelming physical strength. They work alone, generally crushing skulls of their victims." (Tapping the page of the Book, he looks at TALI.) CHRIS: You're lucky he wasn't after you. (TALI doesn't say anything. PAIGE puts a hand to her head. This is all too confusing.) PAIGE: Ok, this isn't making sense. (to TALI) Are you sure that that amulet did not have magical powers? TALI: I'm positive. It was just a family heirloom. CHRIS: Well, do you have anything else of your grandmother's? TALI: Her wedding ring. Why? PAIGE: That's a great idea. We can use it to scry for the amulet. CHRIS: And find out where the Demon went. (PHOEBE enters the attic loudly. She's in a rush.) PHOEBE: Ok, people, heads up. I need your address books, your phone books -- basically all your books. (She turns and introduces herself to TALI.) Hi, I'm Phoebe. TALI: Hi. (They shake hands.) PAIGE: This is Tali. She was attacked by three Upper-level Demons today. PHOEBE: (to TALI) Wow, and you lived to tell about it? Congratulations. (to PAIGE) Ok, about those books. I'm kind of in a hurry. PAIGE: Phoebe, we actually need your help. (PHOEBE stops and turns to look at TALI.) PHOEBE: How bad was it? TALI: Well, um, they stole my grandmother's amulet. PHOEBE: Really? How powerful was it? Could they use it for, like, mind- control or something? TALI: Oh, no, it was just decorative. (PHOEBE looks at PAIGE.) PHOEBE: (echoes) Decorative. TALI: Yeah, pretty much. PHOEBE: Hmm ... (She weighs the two choices with her hands.) Saving my nephew or kleptomaniac demons ... (she looks at PAIGE and CHRIS) I really need those books, guys. PAIGE: Phoeb ... PHOEBE: What? This is important. I'm gonna draw up a police flow chart of everyone in Wyatt's life who can possibly be a suspect, and I don't want to forget anybody. PAIGE: (sighs) Fine. My book is in my bedroom. CHRIS: Mom's is down in the kitchen. PHOEBE: Great. (to TALI) I hope you find your amulet. (PHOEBE starts to back up out of the attic.) Ok, I'll be at the office if you need me, ... CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GIDEON'S OFFICE - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (On the wall, the crystal GIDEON and SIGMUND are using projects the image of the events in the attic. PHOEBE continues to back up out of the attic.) PHOEBE: (from crystal) ... but please don't need me, because I really think I'm onto something here. (PHOEBE turns and heads out of the attic.) GIDEON: (frustrated) Stubborn little witch! (GIDEON waves his hand and the red crystal set up on the coffee table in front of him, shuts off. He sighs and thinks about his next move.) GIDEON: She's not playing along. (SIGMUND turns nervously to GIDEON.) SIGMUND: What if she finds us out? GIDEON: She won't. SIGMUND: How are you going to stop her? (GIDEON orbs out of the room. SIGMUND turns back to face in front of him. He sighs, not liking being shut out.) SIGMUND: Thanks for sharing. CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN)] (Close up: CLEA stabs the athame point down into the table in front of her. She turns and looks at what CORR has in his hand.) (GIDEON orbs into the studio.) GIDEON: Athames? (At the sound of his voice, CLEA and CORR turn and see GIDEON standing behind them.) GIDEON: I thought we'd agreed nobody would be hurt. CORR: The weapons are part of the game. It's how powers are taken. CLEA: But don't worry. Only the players'll be using them on each other. GIDEON: More dead demons? Not a problem for me. CLEA: Mmm. (mocking British accent) More dead Elders wouldn't be a problem for us either. (rudely) What do you want? GIDEON: This whole distraction isn't working as well as I'd hoped, especially not on Phoebe. She's meeting with a reporter again, and I won't have him feeding her any more information. CORR: You want him dead? GIDEON: No, of course not. I want him out of the way. CLEA: Now how are we supposed to do that without killing him? GIDEON: Be creative. Plant more cameras. Make him part of the game. Use the Shapeshifter. I like him. CORR: Still, he is a demon, which means there's only so much we can control in the risk department. GIDEON: I expect you'll do your very best. (GIDEON orbs out. As soon as he's gone, CLEA giggles.) CLEA: Did he just give us an opening? CORR: He must be more desperate than we thought, which means that maybe he won't shut us down after the first witch dies. (This is very tantalizing to CLEA who moves toward CORR for a kiss. She stops herself and bites her lip to resist kissing him.) CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT] (The bar is filled with DEMONS playing darts, shooting pool and drinking. The DEMON throws a magical pulse of energy or a "dart" at the dart board.) DEMON: All right, come on, let's see a bull's-eye. (The FEMALE DEMON watches as the white billiard ball hits the black ball into the corner pocket. She turns and stabs her pool stick into the BALD-HEADED DEMON who just made the losing shot. He explodes. She chuckles.) FEMALE DEMON: Next? (The DART-THROWING DEMON throws another dart at the dart board.) BALD-HEADED DEMON: Right! Finally. (The WITCH WARS title music starts. The crowd seated at the tables in front of the wide-screen wall monitor starts cheering. The crowd applauds. Activity in the bar stops as all attention turns to the program.) BALD-HEADED DEMON: Witch Wars! Yeah! (Another DEMON turns excitedly toward the screen.) EXCITED DEMON: (enthusiastically) Ready, Witch Wars! SHORT DEMON: Shh! (The EXCITED DEMON throws a wall of fire at the SHORT DEMON who explodes where he stands.) EXCITED DEMON: (shouts) Nobody shushes me! CORR: (from tv) (o.s.) Welcome back to Witch Wars. (The EXCITED DEMON laughs maniacally.) (On the monitor, CORR steps out in front of the camera as the show starts.) CORR: (on monitor) You want battles? You thirst for blood? You ain't seen nothin' yet. (The camera on screen pulls back and we see that CORR is standing in front of the demons playing the game.) CORR: (on monitor) Of course, that warlock won't be seeing anything ever again, will he? (The DEMONS in the bar smile at the anticipation of the next episode.) (On the monitor, CORR indicates the demon players standing behind him.) CORR: (on monitor) In round two, these three upper-level demons will again have to get past The Charmed Ones to get to the witch. But this time they're not going after her necklace. They're going after her life. INTERCUT WITH: [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) -- CONTINUOUS] (The show continues inside the broadcast studio.) CORR: (to camera) Before we get started, let's introduce our newest contestant. He's a Darklighter all the way from the northeast underworld. It's good to have you with us. (They shake hands.) DARKLIGHTER: Good to be here. CORR: Now, remember, your athames will absorb the powers of your victims as well as each other. (CORR hands each demon contestant their own athame. The DEMON viewers in the bar like this new aspect of the show.) CORR: The last demon standing will be awarded all of the powers collected at the end. For the winner ... a serious power boost. For the losers, certain death. Oh, one more thing. Since the Shapeshifter failed to get the witch's amulet at the end of round one, he must now take on the added risk of confronting a Charmed One directly -- in this case, Phoebe. SHAPESHIFTER: Ohh! Great! CORR: And the Brute Demon, having won round one by claiming the amulet, has won the rights to make the first move. BRUTE DEMON: (raises his fists up in triumph) Yeah! CORR: Now the players will enter the confessional cave to share their strategies with the audience. (The DEMON CONTESTANTS turn and exit the main studio cavern.) CORR: (whispers to camera) Let's watch. (CORR turns away from the camera and follows the DEMON CONTESTANTS out of the main cave. On the wall monitor, the program continues, segueing to the "confessional" scenes.) (First up is the BRUTE DEMON holding his athame.) BRUTE DEMON: One of The Charmed Ones is getting ready to scry for the amulet, right-- to find me? Good. I'll be waiting for her, and when I take her out, the witch will be mine. (The monitor switches to the SHAPESHIFTER.) SHAPESHIFTER: It's suicide to go up against a Charmed One. But if I could ... persuade Phoebe to invite me home with her, she'd be leading me right to the witch. (The monitor switches to the DARKLIGHTER.) DARKLIGHTER: All's I gotta do is bide my time ... wait for that stupid brute to get himself killed ... then make my move. CUT TO: [INT. THE BAY MIRROR - BULLPEN - NIGHT] (PHOEBE has drawn her chart. It looks like a bullseye with WYATT in the center. In the first circle around WYATT, she has listed: PHOEBE, PAIGE, PIPER, LEO and CHRIS. In the second circle around that, she has listed: MORRIS, SHEILA, and DAD.) PHOEBE: Ok, so we have the immediate family and then close friends in the family. Who's next? (She looks up and we see KYLE DONIE sitting at his desk and PHOEBE sitting in the chair pulled up to his desk.) KYLE DONIE: Uh, anyone the child originally came in contact with in the last six months. PHOEBE: Ok, but the child's been in seclusion for the last six months. So are we talkin' kids in the nursery and teachers? KYLE DONIE: And his mother's hairdresser, or your handyman or clergyman. PHOEBE: Ok, let's just say, hypothetically speaking, that the police are running out of time. And they can't possibly research everyone the child's met in the last six months. Who do they focus on then? KYLE DONIE: Immediate family. PHOEBE: (insistent) They've ruled out the immediate family. KYLE DONIE: Ok, I--I kinda preferred the fake flirting to this. PHOEBE: Yeah, I'm sorry. I just get very emotional when things have to do with my family. KYLE DONIE: Well, that's why the cops usually do this part and not the parents ... or the aunt. PHOEBE: Ok, so what would the cops do next? KYLE DONIE: Phoebe, it sounds to me like you're looking for some kind of magic formula, and there just isn't one. (Unknown to them, the SHAPESHIFTER peers out of the darkened break room watching them talk.) PHOEBE: Well, can't you just narrow it down a little bit? KYLE DONIE: Uh, statistically, when it's not a crime of necessity, you're looking at white men between the ages of 25 and 50, usually someone you least expect -- maybe--maybe even trust. (He sees that this gets PHOEBE thinking.) Think on that. I'll get coffee. (KYLE DONIE gets to his feet and heads for the break room. As soon as he walks into the room, the SHAPESHIFTER attacks him, knocking him out.) (He puts the body down on the floor and shapeshifts into KYLE DONIE.) [INT. THE BAY MIRROR -- BULLPEN - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (The SHAPESHIFTER in his new form steps back out into the bullpen. He sees PHOEBE and smiles.) SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Makin' any progress? PHOEBE: No, not yet. I thought you were getting coffee. INTERCUT WITH: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT] (The DEMONS in the bar watch the exchange on the wide-screen monitor.) SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): I changed my mind. If I have caffeine this late, I can't sleep. PHOEBE: Well, I'm not gonna sleep until I figure this out. SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Oh. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - NIGHT] (LEO orbs into the room and sees CHRIS coming down the stairs. He rushes over to him.) LEO: Hey, how's it goin' here? (CHRIS walks around and stops at the table with the scrying map on it.) CHRIS: Paige and Tali went to get her grandmother's ring. How's mom doin'? LEO: She's scared. She's holdin' up. CHRIS: And how are you doin'? LEO: About the same. (PAIGE and TALI orb into the room.) PAIGE: Got it. (PAIGE heads over to the scrying table to scry for the BRUTE DEMON.) TALI: So what are you planning to do when you find them? I mean, could this be some kind of trap? PAIGE: Heh. Honey, it could always be some kind of a trap. LEO: Which is why you shouldn't go alone. CHRIS: He's right, Paige. If these are the witch killers ... (The crystal stops swinging around and hits the map.) PAIGE: I got it. TALI: Why don't you guys both go with her? I mean, if they wanted to kill me, they would have done it when they had the chance. Right? PAIGE: No, I'm sorry. Can't leave you unprotected. (CHRIS gets to his feet.) CHRIS: I'll stay. (PAIGE looks at LEO.) PAIGE: Come on. INTERCUT WITH: [INT. BRUTE DEMON'S LAIR - WAREHOUSE - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (In the wall projection, the BRUTE DEMON watches as PAIGE walks over to the hallway table and picks up the potions vials. She and LEO orb out of the house.) (The camera pulls away from the projection to show the BRUTE DEMON holding up a crystal emitting the projection onto the wall.) BRUTE DEMON: Lambs to the slaughter. (Satisfied, he pockets the crystal, then puts TALI'S necklace flat on the floor. He takes a couple of steps back, then jumps to a high perch and waits for them.) (PAIGE and LEO orbs into the warehouse. She immediately sees the necklace on the floor.) PAIGE: Ok, that looks like a trap. LEO: Let's get outta here. (The BRUTE DEMON jumps down in front of them. He steps forward to stab LEO with the athame, but LEO grabs his arm, twists and throws the BRUTE DEMON over his shoulder. The BRUTE DEMON lands flat on his back, the crystal falls out of his pocket.) (PAIGE throws the vanquishing potion on the BRUTE DEMON. He explodes.) INTERCUT WITH [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (The DEMONS in the bar see the vanquish and let out a groan. The EXCITED DEMON lets out a whoop and a holler. He turns to the BALD-HEADED DEMON standing next to him.) EXCITED DEMON: I told you he'd eat it. BALD-HEADED DEMON: That's gonna leave a mark. (PAIGE and LEO look at the smouldering black mark on the ground where the BRUTE DEMON used to be. Just beyond, they notice the red crystal on the floor giving off a projection on the wall. It's the broadcast of them in the warehouse.) LEO: What's that? PAIGE: That's us. (PAIGE looks up and around the ceiling looking for the camera.) INTERCUT WITH: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (The DEMONS in the bar hold their breath as they watch PAIGE and LEO in the warehouse looking up and around for the camera.) (On the monitor, the projection cuts to: [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (CHRIS and TALI sit across each other in the living room.) CHRIS: We've got to get going. Is there any place where - [INT. BRUTE DEMON'S LAIR - WAREHOUSE - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (In the warehouse, PAIGE and LEO also see CHRIS and TALI back at the manor. She doesn't like this.) PAIGE: Ok, what's goin' on? (On the monitor, they watch as the DARKLIGHTER appears. He shoots and hits CHRIS. TALI turns, gasps and screams.) (LEO immediately orbs out to head back to the manor. PAIGE picks up the necklace and the crystal off the floor and orbs out of the room. Off screen, we hear TALI screaming.) [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, the DARKLIGHTER stabs TALI. The DEMON crowd cheers.) [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT-- CONTINUOUS] (LEO and PAIGE orb into the manor. They find the DARKLIGHTER standing in the center of the room with TALI dead in his arms.) DARKLIGHTER: I win. You lose. (The DARKLIGHTER orbs out with TALI.) [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (The DEMON CROWD goes wild and cheers at the victory.) DEMON CROWD: Darklighter! DEMON CROWD: Darklighter! EXCITED DEMON: Darklighter! Yeah! FADE OUT (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM -- NIGHT] (CHRIS lies back on the couch as LEO finishes healing him.) CHRIS: (sighs) Oh. I am so sorry. I didn't even see him coming. PAIGE: (pissed) It's ok. It's not your fault. We're being watched. (CHRIS sits up. LEO sits back on the arm rest of the chair behind him.) CHRIS: What? PAIGE: Sons of bitches. Where are the cameras? (PAIGE looks around the house.) CHRIS: What cameras? LEO: There's some kind of live feed going on in the crystals. PAIGE: Yeah, except for I think they cut it off. I'm not seeing anything. (PAIGE looks at the crystal in her hand, then turns and puts it down on the table.) CHRIS: Well, who? PAIGE: I don't know. I vanquished the Brute Demon before I could ask him. What is this, some kind of game? (PAIGE goes back to looking around at the ceiling for the cameras. This gets CHRIS thinking.) CHRIS: Actually, it might be. LEO: What are you talking about? CHRIS: Well, I heard something when I was down in the underworld. But I thought it was just a rumor. PAIGE: You thought what was a rumor? CHRIS: Well, that there was this demonic game show. Kinda like "Survivor". But only for demons. PAIGE: And you didn't tell us this why? CHRIS: Because I didn't think it was relevant. PAIGE: Ok, that's your theme song of today. Did you notice? (CHRIS looks at PAIGE and nods wryly.) LEO: (whispers warningly) Paige. PAIGE: (sighs) Look, I'm sorry. Well, at least it explains how the demon we trapped today knew that the witch died. He was watching it on tv. Pretty sick. LEO: Not any sicker than any other reality tv show. (PAIGE and CHRIS both turn to look at LEO. He raises his eye-brows and holds his hands out in a weak shrug.) LEO: I'm just sayin'. CHRIS: Except this one's about killing witches for entertainment. PAIGE: Yeah. We have to get out of here. Because they are listening to us. INTERCUT WITH: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, PAIGE stands up and again looks around the room for the camera.) (She sighs.) PAIGE: (sing-song) We're gonna find you. CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) -- CONTINUOUS] (CLEA sees them on the monitor. She doesn't like it. She turns and walks over to CORR.) CLEA: We need more powers -- fast. CORR: Don't worry. Cue the confessional. (He has an idea and is already moving to the front of the camera. He walks out of the control booth.) (On the monitor, we see PAIGE, LEO and CHRIS walking out of the crystals' camera frame.) (The WITCH WARS title music plays in the background. CLEA is busy working at the controls in the booth.) (On the monitor, the DARKLIGHTER'S confessional appears on screen.) (In the back of the room, we see CORR exit the back of the cave.) [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) - CONFESSIONAL -- CONTINUOUS] (Holding his athame like a trophy in front of him, The DARKLIGHTER is in front of the camera giving his confessional live. In the back, CORR walks into the confessional.) DARKLIGHTER: One demon down, one to go. All I have to do is wait for Phoebe to kill the Shapeshifter. Then I can make my move. (CORR interrupts the confessional.) CORR: What if she doesn't? I mean, why wait? Why not just eliminate the competition yourself? INTERCUT WITH: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT] (The EXCITED DEMON in the bar likes the sound of that. He raises his head and turns to give the show his full attention. Other DEMONS in the bar also like the sound of this new twist.) DARKLIGHTER: Good point. (On the monitor, the DARKLIGHTER turns to look at the camera. A look of anticipation is on his face.) CUT TO: [INT. THE BAY MIRROR - BULLPEN / PHOEBE'S OFFICE- NIGHT] (PHOEBE walks from the hallway into the bullpen. She's on the phone.) PHOEBE: (to phone) A Reality what? You have got to be kidding me. All right. I'll be home as soon as I can. (She hangs up.) SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Something wrong? (PHOEBE turns and looks at him.) PHOEBE: Uh, kind of. Listen, thanks. I--I have to get goin'. SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Oh, but I was having a really good time. (The smile on her face freezes warily.) PHOEBE: Really? SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Yeah. PHOEBE: Well, thanks again for all your help, and maybe we can talk more tomorrow. SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Or since you're heading home, I could just come with you. PHOEBE: I'm sorry? SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): Uh, to check out your place -- look for any, you know, easy entry points. I mean, most bad guys usually attack at home. (PHOEBE turns and heads for her office.) PHOEBE: Are you sure about that? Because I think I've heard ... SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): (interrupts) I'm the expert, right? (He steps forward to follow her into her office, but something stops him.) SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): So let me just come home with you, make sure everything is all right. (PHOEBE grabs her bag and steps out of her office back into the bullpen. She grabs a notepad off of the desk nearby and starts writing a note.) PHOEBE: Yeah. Well, that's not gonna happen. See, I'm not going home. I, uh ... have to go somewhere else. My fam-- (The SHAPESHIFTER can't wait any longer. He pulls out his athame and attacks her, holding it to her throat.) SHAPESHIFTER (AS KYLE DONIE): (demands) You take me to your house, witch. Now! (PHOEBE pushes him away and punches him in the face. She backs up into her office, her eyes glued to her doorway.) PHOEBE: Chris! Leo! (The SHAPESHIFTER appears in the doorway, the athame in his hand.) (PHOEBE grabs the top doorframe, lifts herself up, swings and kicks the SHAPESHIFTER in the chest. The SHAPESHIFTER takes a couple of steps backward upon impact.) (The DARKLIGHTER orbs in just behind the SHAPESHIFTER and stabs him in the back with his athame. The SHAPESHIFTER screams in pain as he's consumed by fire.) (PHOEBE picks up the athame the SHAPESHIFTER dropped and watches the vanquish.) (CHRIS orbs into PHOEBE'S office behind her. He holds out his hand.) CHRIS: Phoebe! (PHOEBE turns and takes his hand.) (The DARKLIGHTER looks up at CHRIS.) DARKLIGHTER: (to CHRIS) You still alive? (He raises his crossbow.) (CHRIS and PHOEBE are already orbing out.) (The arrow hits the wall missing him completely.) [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT] (The DEMON CROWD groans.) DEMON CROWD: Ooh! DEMON: Come on! BALD-HEADED DEMON: Missed 'em by that much! (They watch as the DARKLIGHTER walks into Phoebe's office to retrieve his arrow from the wall.) [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) -- CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, CLEA and CORR watch as the DARKLIGHTER orbs out of Phoebe's office. The monitor in the back changes to the standard WITCH WARS title screen.) (CORR turns back to the camera and with a flourish of his hands, the DARKLIGHTER appears in the studio next to him.) (The DARKLIGHTER hands his athame to CORR.) DARKLIGHTER: The witch is dead, and I'm the last demon standing. (triumphantly) That's the game, my friends. That is the game! [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (The DEMONS in the bar cheer.) [INT. DEMON BROADCASTING STUDIO (CAVERN) -- CONTINUOUS] (CORR puts a hand on the DARKLIGHTER'S shoulder.) CORR: Well, not quite. DARKLIGHTER: What? (CORR moves the athame to his right hand as he again flourishes to the camera.) CORR: Well, as you know, all good reality tv shows have one final ... (CORR stabs the DARKLIGHTER in the back.) (The DARKLIGHTER grunts in pain.) (In the control booth, CLEA bounces with excitement.) (CORR twists the athame in the DARKLIGHTER'S back as he's consumed by fire.) CORR: ... Twist. (In the bar, the DEMON turns to look at the crowd.) EXCITED DEMON: No way! That's a cheat! (Back in the studio, CORR grins evilly at the camera. CLEA rushes to stand by his side. He holds the athame up in front of him as CLEA waves to the camera audience.) CORR: Now ... it's our turn to play. [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, CORR and CLEA smile.) (The crowd cheers.) (The standard WITCH WARS title screen appears on the monitor.) (The BALD-HEADED DEMON whacks the DEMON on his shoulder as he brushes by him.) BALD-HEADED DEMON: Ya gotta admit, it's a good twist. (The DEMON holds his fist up at the BALD-HEADED DEMON'S back.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL - NIGHT] (Everyone sits around the table flipping through the books looking for something. PAIGE turns the page, sees the picture of the athame and gasps.) PAIGE: Found it. (She places the real athame over the drawing in the book. It matches perfectly.) PAIGE: A power-sucking athame. PIPER: And? PAIGE: Well, and that's it. PHOEBE: Wait, it doesn't say anything about what kind of demon uses it or what the "WW" stands for? PAIGE: No. PHOEBE: Well, that's not a big help. Ok, well, we could scry with the athame or the crystal thingie. PAIGE: No, I tried. PHOEBE: How about a Return to Sender spell? (CHRIS nods slightly.) PAIGE: (sighs) Tried. Our magic is blocked. (LEO quietly keeps his eyes on PIPER who hasn't said much so far.) PHOEBE: So then, we've got nothing. PAIGE: Yes. We have nothing but a houseful of cameras, and an underworld full of voyeurs. (PIPER puts a hand to her brow, a small movement showing how worried she is. LEO sees the movement.) LEO: Piper, why don't you go relax? We can take it from here. PIPER: No. I'm fine. I mean, and relax? Relax where? We're being watched. LEO: Not here. Not at magic school they're not. PHOEBE: Leo's right. You should go lay down. We've got it under control. (PIPER concedes and gets to her feet.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GIDEON'S OFFICE - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (Through the crystal ball, we see LEO also get to his feet. PIPER brushes his help aside.) PIPER: (grumbles) You don't touch me. You're the reason I look like this. (GIDEON and SIGMUND watch what's going on in the Great Hall through the crystal ball. They see PIPER and LEO walk out from their view.) (With a tiny movement of his finger, the vision disappears.) (SIGMUND turns to GIDEON.) SIGMUND: You have to put a stop to this. GIDEON: You're missing the bigger picture, Sigmund. SIGMUND: Sir, another witch is dead. GIDEON: That wasn't supposed to happen. SIGMUND: You're dealing with demons. What did you expect? GIDEON: Sacrifices must be made for the greater good. SIGMUND: How far are you willing to go? Phoebe was nearly killed. GIDEON: No, she wasn't. She's strong. She protected herself as I knew she would. SIGMUND: She shouldn't have had to. They weren't supposed to go after The Charmed Ones. GIDEON: Yes, they were. That was my plan all along -- to get the Gamesmasters to try to kill The Charmed Ones. SIGMUND: (persists) But why? (GIDEON surges to his feet in frustration. He heads for the bookshelf.) GIDEON: To get them off my trail! To get them believing that it's the Gamesmasters who are after Wyatt, as if they've been after him all along. (GIDEON takes a book down from the shelf and opens it. SIGMUND gets to his feet and turns to look at GIDEON.) (GIDEON waves his hand over the open book and the entry appears for the RONYX CRYSTAL.) SIGMUND: But what if they succeed? What if they kill the sisters? GIDEON: I have no intention of letting that happen. I only want Wyatt eliminated, not them. (GIDEON sighs. He slams the book shut and walks out of the office.) (SIGMUND doesn't like this at all. He quietly shakes his head.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (GIDEON walks through the hallway toward the Great Hall. In his hands, he carries the open book from his office.) (In the Great Hall, PHOEBE sighs.) (GIDEON walks up to them.) GIDEON: I think I might have found something that can help. (He puts the book down on the table in front of PAIGE.) PAIGE: It's the crystal thingie. GIDEON: It's actually an ancient form of magical voyeurism. The ronyx crystal predates even the crystal ball. Our demon friends must have found a way to put a new spin on an old idea. (PHOEBE sees something in the book.) PHOEBE: Wait a minute. It's got an incantation to activate it. (She picks up the crystal and reads the incantation.) PHOEBE: Uh, mallock cormon alli-tas. (Behind PHOEBE'S back and away from anyone else's view, GIDEON taps his fingers and gives the crystal the extra power-boost it needs to work.) (Immediately, the crystal emits a projection onto the table. We see the show's title logo, WITCH WARS, appear along with the dagger logo. The music cues as the show returns to the air. These are the same still shots from the teaser.) (The title screen segues into the first still shot of this episode: PAIGE, LEO and CHRIS are in the Sitting Room.) (CHRIS reaches out and passes his hand through the projection.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) (v.o.) Welcome back to Witch Wars. (Other still shots of this episode are projected onto the table: PHOEBE, PAIGE, CHRIS and TALI are in the attic; CHRIS, PAIGE and TALI are in the sitting room.) (GIDEON watches PHOEBE closely to see whether she's buying his ruse.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) (v.o.) Tonight, on a very special episode, you'll see the ultimate battle. (The next still shots are of: A Close up of PAIGE; PHOEBE in her office; and a still shot from 6X18: Spin City of PHOEBE, PAIGE and PIPER.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) (v.o.) When the Gamemasters themselves take on not just any witches, but the legendary Charmed Ones. It'll be winner takes all ... (The projection continues.) CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT -- CONTINUOUS] (The broadcast continues in the demon bar. On the monitor, CORR addresses his camera audience.) DEMON: Yeah, baby! CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) And we will take all ... (The demon crowd goes wild.) DEMON: Witch blood! CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) Their lives, their powers ... and last but not least, [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- NIGHT] (ON CHRIS as he watches the broadcast.) CORR (GAMEMASTER): (from broadcast) (v.o.) ... their progeny. (CHRIS looks up from the broadcast at the others. His face registers the threat just made to them.) (The projection fades out.) FADE OUT (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL -- NIGHT] (PHOEBE sits at the table absorbing what she just saw.) PHOEBE: That's what their show is about -- killing us? (CHRIS stands a distance behind her.) CHRIS: Then either me or Wyatt ... GIDEON: It has to be Wyatt, which means ... oh, yes. This makes perfect sense. (GIDEON turns and walks over to the side. He waves his hands and the doors to the Great Hall close.) PAIGE: What about any of this makes perfect sense? (He turns around and explains.) GIDEON: Don't you see? These Gamesmasters are the demons that you've been looking for all along. The ones who are after Wyatt. PHOEBE: What? GIDEON: Think about it. They've been collecting powers, hoping to gain enough to be able to collect yours. CHRIS: And then get Wyatt's. PAIGE: Well, it kinda fits into Phoebe's theory then, right? We don't know who they are. But they know who we are. LEO: I'm gonna kill them. GIDEON: No, Leo, you're an Elder now. Non-violent, remember? LEO: Watch me. PHOEBE: We're gonna have to find them first. (PHOEBE picks up the deactivated crystal and looks at it.) Do you think we could trace the signal back to them? PAIGE: No, not without Piper. I think they're too strong already. (PHOEBE puts the crystal down and picks up the power-sucking athame.) PHOEBE: No, we don't need Piper. Because we have this ... (She looks at the athame. Staring at it, her voice becomes flat, devoid of emotion as she formulates the plan to stop them.) ... and they're not going to kill us on t.v. We're going to kill them. CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BROADCAST STUDIO - NIGHT] (CORR checks his clipboard. CLEA stands earnestly next to him.) CLEA: What if they never go back to the manor? CORR: They will. If there's one thing I know about The Charmed Ones, they never run away from a fight. (She laughs and rubs her hands together in anticipation.) CHRIS: (o.s.) What exactly are we lookin' for? (At the sound of his voice, they turn to look at the monitor. On the monitor, they see CHRIS and PAIGE in the attic.) [ON MONITOR: MANOR - ATTIC] (PAIGE walks across the attic; CHRIS follows her.) PAIGE: Anything that will let us vanquish the gamemasters without the Power of Three. (CORR turns to look at CLEA.) CORR: It's show time. (CORR and CLEA are extremely turned on by the anticipation. They kiss passionately.) (They break apart, CORR steps back and shimmers out of the cavern.) (CLEA turns back to watch the monitor.) (Behind her, LEO and PHOEBE orb into the cavern.) LEO: Hi. (CLEA turns around and sees them. She steps forward to attack them.) [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (CORR shimmers into the attic.) CORR: Anybody wanna play a game? (CHRIS and PAIGE turn around. CHRIS shuts the Book of Shadows and picks up a box from the nearby table. He throws it at CORR as he and PAIGE turn to find cover.) (CORR waves his hand and telekinetically throws the box aside.) (PAIGE throws the potions vial at CORR. It harmlessly bursts in front of him. She throws another vial and that, too, harmlessly shatters in front of him into wispy tethers of smoke.) PAIGE: Unh. When are they coming back? (CORR powers up a fireball. He throws it at them as they duck for cover.) [INT. DEMON BROADCAST STUDIO - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (CLEA wobbles on her feet. PHOEBE jumps and kicks her in the face. CLEA tumbles backward heels over head.) (LEO orbs in behind her.) (CLEA stands up and powers up an energy ball in the palm of her hand. LEO steps forward and uses the power-sucking athame to stab her in the back.) (The power inside CLEA is immediately sucked out of her and transferred into the athame. She screams as she turns into dust and bursts into flame.) (LEO walks over to PHOEBE.) (She sighs.) PHOEBE: Now that's good television. Gimme the athame. LEO: Are you sure about this? (PHOEBE holds out her hand for the weapon.) PHOEBE: It's for Wyatt. (LEO hands the athame to PHOEBE. She holds it out in the palm of her hand. After a moment, the athame glows with power. It sparks and charges, still PHOEBE holds on to it.) (A white glow washes over PHOEBE. The power has transferred from the athame to her.) PHOEBE: Feels good to have powers again. LEO: Give 'em hell. (PHOEBE looks at LEO, smiles and shimmers out of the cavern.) CUT TO: [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (The demon crowd cheers as they watch on the monitor as CORR attacks CHRIS and PAIGE in the attic. CHRIS grabs PAIGE'S wrist and run across the attic just as CORR powers up another fire ball.) (He throws it as they both dive for cover behind the old, dusty sofa.) (It hits the sofa, missing them - just barely.) (The crowd in the bar goes wild.) CROWD: Yeah! [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - NIGHT- CONTINUOUS] (PAIGE and CHRIS hit the back of the sofa.) (CORR powers up another fire ball. He holds it in the palm of his hand.) CORR: (coldly) This game's over. (He pulls his hand back to throws it when PHOEBE shimmers into the attic holding the power-sucking athame.) PHOEBE: I couldn't agree more. (Surprised, CORR turns to look behind him at PHOEBE.) (In one smooth movement, she makes and throws an energy ball at CORR. It hits him square in the chest and he starts burning.) [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (The BALD-HEADED DEMON groans in sympathy at the burning demon on the monitor.) BALD-HEADED DEMON: Ooh! [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (CORR explodes.) (PAIGE and CHRIS peer over the sofa.) (PHOEBE turns to look at the camera.) [INT. DEMON BAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (On the monitor, PHOEBE stares knowingly at the audience.) (The crowd in the bar gasps.) PHOEBE: (on the monitor) See what happens when you make a play for our baby? Who wants to play next? (Camera cuts to several individual demons in the demon bar. No one says anything.) (PHOEBE stares out into the camera crowd. She smiles maniacally.) PHOEBE: (on the monitor) What's the matter? Scared of me? (PHOEBE shimmers out of the attic ... ) (... and shimmers into the DEMON BAR.) PHOEBE: Well, are you? Are you? (Rather than face her, the DEMONS stand and start running toward the exits.) (Not taking any prisoners, PHOEBE powers up energy ball after energy ball and throws them at the demons running out of the bar. She hits demon after demon after demon in the back, in the front, wherever they stand -- she fires and hits them, taking them down and out one by one.) (She doesn't stop.) (She continues to power up energy ball after energy ball, throwing them at whatever moves in front of her. The demons scream in pain as they explode one after the other. She catches them mid-run, mid-jump and mid-shimmer.) (Still, she doesn't stop.) (PHOEBE continues to fire energy ball after energy ball determined to clear the threat to her family. She hits the demons mercilessly as they flee the bar, their cries of pain filling the air with the fire and smoke of each vanquish.) (And still, she doesn't stop.) (Demons run for the doors, tumbling over one another to get out of her range of fire. But no matter how fast they go, they can't out run her rage. An energy ball hits the FEMALE DEMON in the chest. PHOEBE turns and throws another energy ball at the DEMON running across the far doorway and hits him.) (And finally, she turns and with a flick of her wrist, throws the last energy ball at the wide-screen monitor with the WITCH WARS title logo on it. The monitor explodes and falls down leaving a black, smoking hole in the wall.) PHOEBE: Looks like your show's just been canceled. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT (LEO orbs into the attic. CHRIS and PAIGE sit patiently on the couch waiting.) PAIGE: Where's Phoebe? CHRIS: That's a good question. (PHOEBE shimmers into the attic. The power of the multiple vanquishes courses through her. She's giddy with excitement, nearly bouncing off the walls.) PHOEBE: God, that was great. I wanna kill somebody else. Who can I kill? (She steps toward CHRIS on the couch as she waves the athame in her grip.) Chris, find me another demon to kill. PAIGE: Ok, we gotta get these powers outta her. PHOEBE: What? You're the one who wanted me to have a power, remember? PAIGE: Yeah, not a demonic power. PHOEBE: Well, beggars can't be choosers. (imitating PAIGE) Oh, poor little powerless Phoebe. She can't even take care of herself. PAIGE: Ok. I'm sorry. I admit it. I was--I was wrong. PHOEBE: (leans forward) What did you say? Would you mind repeating that, please? PAIGE: (stiffly) I'm sorry. I was wrong. I clearly underestimated you. You are very powerful. (PHOEBE smiles.) PHOEBE: That's all I wanted to hear. (She turns to look back at LEO as she waves the athame in the air.) PHOEBE: Now who wants to stab me? (PAIGE gets to her feet.) PAIGE: What? LEO: It's the only way to get the powers out of her. PHOEBE: (annoying) Come on. I dare ya. I double dare ya. I triple dare ya. I super duper dare-- PAIGE: Oh! (PAIGE grabs the athame out of PHOEBE'S hand just to get her to stop talking.) PAIGE: I'll stab her. (She looks at LEO.) Leo, be ready to heal. (LEO nods. PAIGE pulls her arm back. CHRIS shuts his eyes and turns his head to stop from looking.) (PHOEBE prepares herself as PAIGE thrusts the knife forward toward her ... ) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GREAT HALL - DAY] PIPER: (o.s.) You stabbed her? (PAIGE pours champagne into CHRIS' glass.) PAIGE: Oh, you would have, too. CHRIS: She was pretty obnoxious. (PAIGE turns and fills up PHOEBE'S glass.) PHOEBE: Yeah, demonic powers on an empty stomach. Not such a good thing. PIPER: No, it was a great thing. You saved Wyatt. PHOEBE: We all did. (PAIGE puts the bottle aside on the table. LEO carries WYATT in his arms as he stands next to CHRIS.) PIPER: So we're one hundred percent certain these were the demons we were lookin' for all along? (PHOEBE raises her glass in a toast. Everyone raises their glasses also.) PHOEBE: To our nephew. May he always be safe. CHRIS: I can't believe it's finally over. LEO: Believe it. You just saved the future. (WYATT reaches a hand toward PIPER.) WYATT: Mom. PIPER: Yeah, I know. CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - GIDEON'S OFFICE - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (GIDEON sits in his office at his desk watching The Charmed Ones in the Great Hall through the crystal ball. He sees LEO carry WYATT and walk toward PIPER.) (SIGMUND paces the floor nervously.) (GIDEON makes a wiping motion with his hand and the image in the crystal ball disappears.) GIDEON: Sigmund, try to relax. We were successful today. They're off our trail. Even better, their guard is down which makes it that much easier to eliminate the threat. (SIGMUND turns his back to GIDEON and shakes his head.) SIGMUND: (irritated) His name is Wyatt. GIDEON: I'm sorry? (SIGMUND suddenly turns around, the words and his concern tumbling from his mouth like a confession.) SIGMUND: What if Phoebe was right? What if future Wyatt wasn't turned evil by a demon? He's just an innocent baby. What if, in trying to eliminate a threat, we are actually creating a monster? (GIDEON is already shaking his head.) That's such a tender age to be betrayed by those who have sworn to protect you. What if that's what turns him? GIDEON: It's possible. Anything is possible. But armed with this future knowledge, we have to try to make sure that it doesn't happen this time. SIGMUND: The only way to be sure is to stop this now. (GIDEON surges to his feet.) GIDEON: Sigmund! This child should never have been born. (As he listens, SIGMUND becomes more convinced of his decision.) He is enormously dangerous. Why am I the only one who seems to understand that? SIGMUND: That's a very good question, sir, and with all due respect, it's why I can't let you go through with this. I'm going to tell the sisters the truth. (GIDEON blinks.) (SIGMUND turns around and heads for the door. He reaches the door and pulls it open.) (GIDEON reaches out his hand and makes a grabbing motion. SIGMUND stops in his tracks, held fast by an invisible force cast by GIDEON.) (SIGMUND gasps for breath.) (GIDEON blinks his eyes and slowly makes his way to his colleague. We can hear SIGMUND gasping for air.) (GIDEON walks casually around him till he's facing SIGMUND.) GIDEON: I'm sorry, old friend. But this, too, is for the greater good. (Unable to say anything, SIGMUND stares wide-eyed at GIDEON. GIDEON takes a step back away from SIGMUND.) GIDEON: Forgive me. (Suddenly, GIDEON claps his hands together loudly and raises them high up above his head in a grand gesture.) (SIGMUND bursts into a million little pieces and some wispy strands of smoke. GIDEON holds the pose for a beat, then lowers his arms.) (GIDEON lowers his head.)
