OFFICE BUILDING (STOCK) - DAY] [INT. TEMP AGENCY - DAY] (CARL, the temp agency placement representative stands at the filing cabinet flipping through a huge Rolodex card holder. He reads off various cards as he finds something interesting.) CARL: Uh, mail clerk at Dutton and Houser, Greeter at Yarn Mart, Pre-school Assistant-- how are you at diapers? (He turns and looks over his shoulder at PAIGE who isn't looking too satisfied at the moment. She steps in front of the chair and sits down.) PAIGE: Maybe I'm not making myself clear. (CARL picks up the huge Rolodex card holder, turns around and puts it on his desk where he takes a seat.) CARL: No, well, let's see, how about this? (sighs) Bagger at Grocery Plus, Cashier at Lucy's ... (he scrapes the card) ... Landscaping, Computer Programmer-- (he looks at PAIGE) ... I don't think so. (PAIGE stares at CARL for a moment, then shakes her head.) PAIGE: Listen, I was just curious. Have all the temp jobs you've sent me on been so...unusual? CARL: Unusual? What's unusual about a fruit packer? PAIGE: Ok, well, maybe it's not the job, it's just kind of what happens, you know, after I get there. Things just kind of go a little wonky. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you? (She squints her eyes at him, watching him carefully.) CARL: Hmm, no. PAIGE: No. No, you wouldn't. Ok, well, maybe it's just a coincidence. Although, honestly, you know, I don't believe in coincidences. Ok, look, here's the thing. I'm not picky. I'll take anything as long as it's really, really normal. CARL: Oh. You want normal. (CARL flips through the Rolodex and fingers through the cards for something specific.) CARL: I've got the perfect thing for you. (He pulls out a card and hands it to PAIGE.) CUT TO: [INT. CALLAWAY RESIDENCE - BATHROOM - DAY] (Close up of PAIGE'S yellow gloved hand flushing the toilet. She's holding a bedpan in her other hand.) [HALLWAY OUTSIDE BATHROOM] (PAIGE walks out of the bathroom holding up the bedpan.) PAIGE: (mutters to herself) This is not what I had in mind. (She puts the bedpan on the hallway table and takes off her gloves.) (She turns and glances into the parlor where she sees a gray-haired old woman peeking under her opponent's card hand face-down on the parlor table.) [PARLOR] PAIGE: Wasn't someone supposed to call a trump? (GRANDMA CALLAWAY is startled, caught red-handed in cheating. PAIGE heads back over to the card table.) GRANDMA CALLAWAY: Oh, yes, right. Trump. I was just waiting for you. PAIGE: (amused) Oh, I see. (PAIGE takes her seat and picks up her cards.) GRANDMA CALLAWAY: (laughs in appreciation) Still can't believe you know how to play pinochle. Not a lot of young people do anymore, you know? PAIGE: Yeah, I used to play with my grandma all the time. GRANDMA CALLAWAY: Really? Lucky me. PAIGE: No, actually, lucky me. (PAIGE returns the smile.) GRANDMA CALLAWAY: Baby-sitting a sick old lady? How is that lucky for you? (PAIGE thinks about it and doesn't say anything.) GRANDMA CALLAWAY: (prompting) Well? PAIGE: (changes the subject) Well, I think it's time for your medicine. (PAIGE puts her cards down on the table and stands up.) (From the house across the street, a white powerball hurls through the air toward the parlor. It crashes through the large picture windows and hits PAIGE square on the right shoulder.) GRANDMA CALLAWAY: Watch out! (PAIGE falls to the floor. She gets up and looks at her bloodied shoulder.) (JAMES CALLAWAY runs down the stairs.) JAMES CALLAWAY: Mother? What? Are you ok? GRANDMA CALLAWAY: I'm ok. The sons of bitches missed me! Really, I'm ok. (She turns and looks down at PAIGE who is looking at them from her position down on the floor.) PAIGE: (wryly) So much for normal. HARD CUT TO: END OF TEASER ROLL TITLE CREDITS (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. MANOR - DAY] (Establish.) [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL -- DAY] (Floating about six feet off of the floor, PHOEBE is trying to meditate as she sits legs crossed in lotus position, her eyes closed and wrists resting on her knees.) PHOEBE: Ommmmm. Ommmmm. (Six feet under her, PIPER furiously vacuums the main hallway carpet. PHOEBE tries to concentrate, but she can't seem to get there.) PHOEBE: Piper, do you mind? I'm trying to meditate up here if you haven't noticed. PIPER: Well, can't you block out the noise? PHOEBE: Yeah, the vacuum cleaner I can block out. Your nerves, I can't. (PIPER stops moving the vacuum and looks up at PHOEBE.) PIPER: My nerves? [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITIES] (It dawns on PIPER what she's talking about.) PIPER: (annoyed) Oh, for god's sakes, woman! PHOEBE: I'm sorry. You're anxious, I'm anxious. PIPER: But it's my first date. It's not yours. PHOEBE: But, unfortunately, it feels as though it's my first date. PIPER: Well, can't you control it? PHOEBE: What do you think I'm doing up here, cleaning the chandelier? PIPER: Now, that would be helpful. (PAIGE walks into the house and shuts the front door behind her. Although she doesn't say anything, from the look on her face she's quite upset.) (The amount of emotion flowing from PAIGE hits PHOEBE full force and she falls down to the floor landing on her butt.) PHOEBE: Whoa! Ooh! Talk about your psychic hit. (PIPER helps PHOEBE up. They both look at PAIGE. PAIGE doesn't want to talk about it.) PAIGE: Hi. How's it going? (beat) Don't ask. (PAIGE walks up to them and they both finally get a good look at her.) PIPER: Are you hurt? What happened? [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITIES] PAIGE: It's nothing. I'm fine. PHOEBE: (counters) You're not fine, Paige. You're scared to death. Why don't people in this family own their emotions? PAIGE: (to PHOEBE) Ok, this empath thing? It's very annoying. (PAIGE leaves the room to head to the kitchen.) PIPER: (to PHOEBE) Copy that. (PIPER follows PAIGE out of the room.) PIPER: (to PAIGE) Hey! (CHRIS orbs into the room.) CHRIS PERRY: You haven't seen Leo, have you? (PHOEBE turns and looks at CHRIS, although we suspect that she's really picking up CHRIS' emotions and is annoyed by them.) PHOEBE: Oh, Chris, not now. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR -- KITCHEN - DAY --CONTINUOUS] (PAIGE wets a piece of cloth in the kitchen sink and holds it against her wound when PIPER walks into the kitchen.) PIPER: (worried) Paige? PAIGE: It's nothing. I'm fine. PIPER: It doesn't look like "nothing" to me. Was that an energy ball? PAIGE: I don't know. I was playing pinochle. I didn't see. (PIPER doesn't say anything, obviously lost by the relevance.) PAIGE: (explains) I'm temping grandma. She's got some deep, dark secrets. I'll tell you what. PIPER: Another temp job involving magic? (PHOEBE walks into the kitchen and stays a distance away from them, yet listening in on the conversation. She leans over the table.) [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITIES] PAIGE: (mutters) Yeah, right. I'm never gonna get away. PHOEBE: But you want to. (PIPER and PAIGE turn around to look at PHOEBE. Both of them are a little more than annoyed by the constant reading of their emotions.) PIPER: Shush! PHOEBE: (holds up her hands in apology) Sorry. (PAIGE and PIPER turn back to the sink. PIPER has her eyes on PAIGE'S wound.) PIPER: Do you want me to get the Book? PAIGE: No, actually, I don't. I want to follow this one through all by myself. PIPER: Oh. [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITIES] PHOEBE: (whispers to PIPER) She's feeling a little suppressed by us. (PAIGE turns around, puts her hands on her hips and glares at PHOEBE.) PIPER: (to PAIGE, surprised) You are? (PHOEBE shrugs her shoulders at PAIGE.) PAIGE: You know, what I was talking about. The temp job thing, why I'm trying to find my own path just separate from -- PIPER: From us? (CHRIS bursts into the kitchen.) CHRIS PERRY: ... So I checked the house, no sign of -- (PIPER makes up her mind. She heads out of the kitchen past PHOEBE.) PIPER: (mutters) I should cancel my date. PHOEBE: (to PIPER) What?! Why? PIPER: Because we're having issues. PHOEBE: No, the issue is you're afraid to date, Piper. You can't let your fear stop you. (PHOEBE turns to look at PAIGE.) You, on the other hand, should. PAIGE: Gee, I wonder why I'm feeling suppressed. PIPER: Phoebe, this is ridiculous. It's just getting worse. PHOEBE: I know. So what should I do? Should I just keep all your feelings to myself? Would that make you guys happy? (PIPER and PAIGE answer together.) PIPER: Yeah! PAIGE: Yes! PHOEBE: Ok, then that's what I'll do. [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITIES] (PHOEBE turns around and glances at PAIGE, although she's speaking to the room in general.) PHOEBE: Someone's hiding something from me. (PAIGE raises her hands in surrender as if it's not her feelings that are being read at that moment.) (CHRIS appears suddenly worried by the turn of the conversation and its implications. He makes a hasty exit out of the room.) CHRIS PERRY: Just let me know if anyone sees Leo, ok? (CHRIS backs up and leaves the room. PHOEBE turns to watch him go. She's still trying to find the source of the feelings.) PAIGE: I gotta go back and check on grandma. (PAIGE rubs at the bloodied wound. PHOEBE looks alarmed.) PHOEBE: Wait, you're still going? Paige, you're scared to death. I can't believe you'd still go - (PAIGE has had enough. She holds out her hand toward the fruit basket.) PAIGE: Apple. (The apple in the fruit basket orbs toward PAIGE. She pushes it toward PHOEBE'S mouth. The apple re-orbs in PHOEBE'S mouth stopping her from talking any more.) (Frustrated, PAIGE throws the bloody cloth on the table and walks past PHOEBE. She grunts in frustration at her as she leaves. PIPER smiles quietly from the side.) PIPER: (amused) Well, that's one way to do it. (PHOEBE takes a bite of the apple and removes the rest of it from her mouth. PIPER watches her, then turns her head to hide her smile.) (PIPER leaves the room as PHOEBE chews on her apple, shakes her head and watches her go.) CUT TO: [INT. SORCERER'S CAVE - DAY] (The Sorcerer is busy crushing something in his mortar. He talks with the customer behind him.) SORCERER: All sold out, I'm afraid. Good for me. Bad for you. (The Sorcerer turns around and we see that CHRIS is in the Sorcerer's cave pacing the floor in frustration at not being able to get what he wants at that moment.) CHRIS PERRY: Well, how long will it take you to make more? SORCERER: The potion you desire is pricey for a reason. The main ingredient is quite rare and hard to come by. (CHRIS doesn't say anything. The SORCERER looks up at CHRIS.) SORCERER: What secret are you so eager to hide? CHRIS PERRY: Just tell me how long. SORCERER: Hard to say. Six weeks or months. Demonic suppliers are notoriously unreliable. CHRIS PERRY: Well, I can't wait, all right? I need it now. SORCERER: (scoffs) Oh! The impatience of youth. Then again, it takes a young heart to brave great danger. CHRIS PERRY: Spare me the Morpheus speech, Old Man. What are you saying? (Off in the corner of the Sorcerer's cave, an invisible form materializes in shape only and listens in on the conversation.) SORCERER: Swampland is where you'll find the Kotochul Egg your potion requires. (CHRIS takes a sharp, deep breath at the mention of the specific ingredient.) SORCERER: Now you understand the difficulty. CHRIS PERRY: Fine. I'll get you your damn egg. Just make sure you're ready by the time I get back. (CHRIS turns to leave the cave. He heads in the same direction as the invisible form. The invisible form disappears from view. CHRIS lingers, his gaze sweeping the back of the cave where the invisible form was just standing.) (CHRIS glances over at the old SORCERER who looks up at him at that precise moment and gives him a toothless smile.) (CHRIS orbs out of the cave.) (The SORCERER looks up at the back of the cave.) (The invisible form rematerializes, then solidifies into LEO who looks grimly at the old SORCERER. The old SORCERER just smiles with amusement and continues to mesh his ingredients in his mortar.) CUT TO: [EXT. CALLAWAY DRIVEWAY - DAY] (PAIGE stands outside the CALLAWAY driveway. She stands just outside the closed gate and speaks into the intercom.) PAIGE: Hi. It's me, Paige. (pauses for a beat) Paige, your home helper. Please buzz me in. (PAIGE presses the buzzer a couple more times. Behind her from the house across the street, a young man walks out onto the driveway. He watches PAIGE.) PAIGE: Look, I know you're there! (whispers into the comm) I am not gonna expose you, I promise. I just want to help. (The MAN out across the drive way calls out to PAIGE.) RICHARD MONTANA: Don't you think it's a little risky coming back here? (PAIGE turns and looks at RICHARD MONTANA for a long moment. Instead of answering him, she turns back to the comm.) PAIGE: (to comm) Please buzz me in, Ms. Callaway. RICHARD MONTANA: No, seriously. In case you didn't notice, there's kind of a war going on between these two homes. PAIGE: I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. RICHARD MONTANA: Don't you? (He walks toward PAIGE. PAIGE turns back to the intercom trying desperately to convince them to open the gate.) PAIGE: (to comm) It's me! Pinochle girl. (RICHARD reaches the other side of the street.) RICHARD MONTANA: Hey ... (PAIGE turns around and looks at RICHARD.) RICHARD MONTANA: You're not the first, you know. Others have come to try to help. (PAIGE turns away from the intercom and gives RICHARD her full attention. He appears to be sincerely concerned with her welfare.) RICHARD MONTANA: (softer) You should leave before you get hurt. PAIGE: I'm sure I can handle it, thanks. (He laughs a bit as he studies her.) RICHARD MONTANA: You're not a muse, that's for sure. Or a whitelighter. (concludes) You're a witch like us. PAIGE: How do you know that? RICHARD MONTANA: Ever since I was a kid, one sort of magical being or another has come to try to help end the feud. Hasn't worked, though. I mean, this-- this last truce was the longest, but -- (RICHARD glances with alarme at the house behind PAIGE. He sees a white energy ball come out from the house headed straight toward them. He steps forward and grabs PAIGE out of the way. They both fall to the ground as the energy ball whizzes by their heads and crashes into the mailbox across the street completely decimating it into little pieces.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - BATHROOM -- DAY] (Camera moves slowly to show PHOEBE and PIPER in the bathroom. PIPER is sitting on the counter as PHOEBE puts her lipstick on for her.) PHOEBE: Ok, go "ahh." PIPER: Ahh. PHOEBE: Good. All right. Take a look. (PHOEBE pulls back as PIPER holds up the hand mirror to look at her reflection.) PIPER: Yeah, ok, think 'newly single mom', not 'two-bit hooker'. PHOEBE: Ok, we try again. (PIPER wipes off the lipstick. PHOEBE sighs as she starts to reapply PIPER'S lipstick.) PIPER: You're, uh, a little distracted. PHOEBE: I know. I'm having a very hard time concentrating. I think this empath power is driving me crazy. PIPER: You? PHOEBE: Well, you try having PMS for three sisters every month. It's a good thing no one in this family's having sex. I'd be feeling that, too. PIPER: Yeah, ok, so let's skip the vamp red. PHOEBE: You know, if I can't ignore the bloating and the cramping and the mood swings, how am I supposed to ignore the fact that my sister is scared to death? PIPER: (warning) Phoebe. PHOEBE: Right. Ok. I'm just gonna mind my own business. PIPER: All we have to do is respect what Paige wants. And clearly what she wants is not our help. PHOEBE: You know, she thinks that's what she wants, but I know what she really wants, and what she really wants is our help. PIPER: That's it. I'm staying home. PHOEBE: What? Why? (PIPER jumps down from the counter and walks out of the bathroom. PHOEBE hurries after her.) PIPER: To make sure that you leave Paige alone. PHOEBE: No -- Piper, no, you have to go out. You need to go out, and this is not me channeling, this is just me talking. Trust me. The sooner you get back on the dating horse, the easier it will be. PIPER: No, I know you're right. You're absolutely right it's just the truth is I'm a little scared. I mean, I was married to an angel, for crying out loud. Who is gonna compare to that? PHOEBE: I know, but, Piper, you also dated a demon, a warlock, and a ghost. You know, that's what you should be scared of. PIPER: Super pep talk, sis. (The front doorbell rings.) (PHOEBE gasps and puts her hands to her cheeks as she looks at PIPER proudly.) PHOEBE: You look beautiful. PIPER: Hmm. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL/ FOYER -- DAY] (PIPER opens the door. SETH is standing out on the porch.) SETH: Hey. PIPER: Hi. SETH: Wow, you look great. I'm not surprised, it's just that you normally -- PIPER: Oh, yeah. No bottle, no binky. SETH: Yeah, no spit-up. PIPER: (smiles) Yeah. (There's a small moment of awkward silence. SETH motions to the car behind him.) SETH: So, you ready? You wanna go? PIPER: Mm-hmm. (PIPER leans back a bit to look at PHOEBE standing just behind the door.) PHOEBE: Psst! (PIPER moves her hand to stop PHOEBE from talking. SETH sees PIPER move backward and wonders who's standing behind the door.) PHOEBE: (whispers) He likes you. I can tell. (PIPER looks at SETH and sees him watching her ... them. She holds up a finger to give her a moment.) PIPER: One second. (to PHOEBE) Leave Paige alone. I mean it. PHOEBE: I will. I will. (PIPER grabs her bag and heads out the door.) PIPER: (to SETH) Ok. (PHOEBE closes the door behind them.) PHOEBE: (to PIPER) Have fun, have fun. I will leave Paige alone. (PHOEBE shuts the door closed.) PHOEBE: I can't. I can't. (PHOEBE rushes through the foyer calling out to CHRIS.) PHOEBE: Chris! (CHRIS orbs into the living room. His shirt is dirtied with splotches of mud. Wonder what he's been looking for.) CHRIS PERRY: Yeah? (PHOEBE turns around and looks at CHRIS.) PHOEBE: Hey, I need you to watch Wyatt for me. CHRIS PERRY: What? No. No way. [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITY] (PHOEBE squints her eyes at CHRIS as she definitely is picking something up from him.) PHOEBE: What's wrong? Why are you worried? CHRIS PERRY: What's wrong? What's wrong is I don't do babies. One and under crowd, not my thing. Leo, however ... (LEO orbs into the room.) CHRIS PERRY: ... Great with kids. Especially his own. (to LEO) You're not following me, are you? LEO: (suspiciously at CHRIS) Why? Should I be? (The two men look at each other. PHOEBE doesn't need empathy abilities to know what's going on between those two.) PHOEBE: Oh, there's a lot of love in this room. (PHOEBE turns and looks at LEO. CHRIS waits for his moment to leave.) PHOEBE: Ok, so there's a bottle in the fridge if Wyatt wakes up. And the diaper rash cream only if he needs it, ok? We gotta keep that butt moist! (PHOEBE runs out of the room. CHRIS chuckles.) CHRIS: (to LEO) Did you get that? (CHRIS orbs out of the room leaving LEO stuck there with no way to leave.) (LEO rushes after PHOEBE who is in the dining room.) LEO: Phoebe! Phoebe! Wait, wait, wait. (PHOEBE turns around to look at LEO.) LEO: I can't do this right now. I gotta follow ... up on some things. PHOEBE: Well, I have to check on Paige and make sure she's all right. LEO: Where's Piper? (Busted, PHOEBE finds herself cornered.) PHOEBE: Piper is ... (LEO leans forward.) PHOEBE: She's kind of ... (LEO waits patiently for the answer.) PHOEBE: (spits it out) Piper's on a date. (PHOEBE grimaces at LEO. LEO wipes his face clear of all reaction, trying to hide the hurt.) LEO: Oh. Well ... PHOEBE: I'm so sorry. You're hurting. I'm here for you. I just can't be here for you right now. I'm gonna be in there for you, though, checking on Paige. (PHOEBE turns and runs out of the dining room leaving LEO speechless and quietly disturbed.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - KITCHEN - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (PHOEBE picks up the bloodied cloth that PAIGE put down on the kitchen table earlier.) PHOEBE: (chanting) Lead me back from whence this came, Help me help my sister's pain. (Immediately, golden orbs swirl around PHOEBE and she disappears.) CUT TO: [EXT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - DAY] (Establish.) [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE -- DAY] (STEVE MONTANA pushes the door to the study open and walks inside. RICHARD MONTANA talks with his father, BENJAMIN, as they head out of the study.) BENJAMIN MONTANA: I want her out of here, Richard. RICHARD MONTANA: She wasn't sent by the Callaways. She wants the fighting to stop. (They walk out into the main hall.) BENJAMIN MONTANA: Yeah? Then how come the fighting started up the minute she showed up? RICHARD MONTANA: Probably just a coincidence. BENJAMIN MONTANA: I thought you didn't believe in coincidences. (This stops RICHRD. He pauses and looks at his father. BENJAMIN turns and leaves in one direction, while RICHARD walks down the small steps into the sitting room. He's holding a glass of light-purple liquid in his hand.) [SITTING ROOM -- CONTINUOUS] (He walks up to PAIGE who is sitting on one of the seats and holding a cloth to her wound on her right shoulder which started to bleed again.) RICHARD MONTANA: Hey. (PAIGE looks up at RICHARD.) RICHARD MONTANA: Here. Drink this. (He holds out the glass of light-purple liquid. She takes it and looks at it.) PAIGE: What is it? RICHARD MONTANA: It's a family recipe. It'll make you feel better, speed up the healing process. (She looks at him suspiciously.) RICHARD MONTHTA: I'm the one who shouldn't trust you, remember? Drink up. (PAIGE glances down at the liquid, then raises it to her lips. She drinks.) (She looks up and through the doorway sees ROSALINE MONTANA carrying a tray of vials with different color liquids in them. ROSALINE stops in the doorway.) PAIGE: Are those potions? (RICHARD turns around and looks at his mom. ) RICHARD MONTANA: Yeah. (ROSALINE glances down at the tray.) RICHARD MONTANA: I told you, we're witches. (ROSALINE continues down the hallway.) PAIGE: Good ones or bad ones? RICHARD MONTANA: What do you think? PAIGE: Well, I don't know. You did just try to fry an eighty-year-old grandma with an energy ball. (RICHARD takes a seat across PAIGE.) RICHARD MONATANA: We didn't do that. That was the Callaways. They made it look like it was us. It was a set-up. PAIGE: Ok, so they're the bad ones. RICHARD MONTANA: Well, no, they're not bad. They're just -- they're bad to us. (At that moment, STEVE MONTANA rushes into the room and picks up a tray of vials. He looks up and sees PAIGE.) RICHARD MONTANA: See those scars? Years ago, the Callaways cast a plague on us. (STEVE takes the tray and backs out of the room. He leaves.) RICHARD MONTANA: Of course, in return we cursed them with boils. Or was it the boils and then the plague? I don't know, I can't remember. A feud this long, you start to lose track, you know? PAIGE: How come you don't have scars? RICHARD MONTANA: You can't curse people that don't practice magic. I don't do that anymore. PAIGE: Why not? (RICHARD pauses, then stands up. He moves toward the fireplace mantle as he explains.) RICHARD MONTANA: Well, last time I did it, it brought me to a place I don't want to go again. (He glances at the frame photograph of OLIVIA CALLAWAY.) (PAIGE glances at the photograph. RICHARD sees her eyes move toward the picture. He turns to look at the photo also, then explains.) RICHARD MONTANA: That's ... Olivia, my Fiancée. Olivia Callaway. PAIGE: Mm, sleeping with the enemy. RICHARD MONTANA: (softly) She was actually ... uh ... killed in the cross-fire last year. PAIGE: I'm -- I'm really sorry. RICHARD MONTANA: It's all right. You didn't know. She'd be more upset than anybody that this truce ended. She -- she wanted peace. PAIGE: (shrugs) Maybe that's why I'm here -- to help. (RICHARD looks at PAIGE quietly and thinks about it.) (The camera suddenly moves over to the photograph of OLIVIA CALLAWAY. A ghostly figure walks out of the photograph and floats forward. OLIVIA takes in the scene before her: PAIGE sitting down on the chair with RICHARD standing a distance away from her, head lowered.) (OLIVIA turns and disappears.) CUT TO: [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - STUDY - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (OLIVIA appears in the study where BENJAMIN MONTANA is quietly working behind his desk. She watches him for a moment, and then decides to make her presence known.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Boo. (BENJAMIN looks up from his book.) BENJAMIN MONTANA: What? (He recognizes her.) BENJAMIN MONTANA: Olivia? But you're a -- OLIVIA CALLAWAY: A Ghost? Yeah. It sucks, too, believe me. BENJAMIN MONTANA: What do you want? OLIVIA CALLAWAY: What you took from me. (OLIVIA moves rapidly, menacingly toward BENJAMIN. He gets to his feet.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: My life, my love. (OLIVIA holds an energy ball in her hand.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: And one way or another, I'm gonna get them both back. BENJAMIN MONTANA: Now, just wait a minute. Don't -- There's a Charmed One here. She'll come after you. OLIVIA CALLAWAY: I'm counting on it. (BENJAMIN watches helplessly as OLIVIA again moves rapidly in front of him, the energy ball still in the palm of her hand. She backs away from the study window and out into the yard.) (With him dead in her sights, OLIVIA hurls the energy ball directly through the study window.) (It hits BENJAMIN square in the chest. He falls backward onto the desk with a loud cry of pain.) BENJAMIN MONTANA: Aah! (In the sitting room, RICHARD turns around at the sound of his father's cry. PAIGE also gets up, alarmed. They both run toward the study.) (The ghostly image of OLIVIA CALLAWAY flashes in front of the camera.) [STUDY - CONTINUOUS] (RICHARD opens the study doors and doesn't move. ROSALINE and the others reach the study behind RICHARD. ROSALINE rushes into the study to check on her husband.) ROSALINE MONTANA: (distressed) Oh, please, god, no! Oh, my god! (PAIGE also walks into the study. She looks out at the broken window and sees the glass picture window of the house across the street.) (She also sees PHOEBE walk into view.) (PAIGE stares at PHOEBE, her mouth falling open.) (PHOEBE looks back at PAIGE through the energy ball-sized hole in the window and waves back at her.) (Camera holds on PAIGE as she glares angrily at PHOEBE.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT] (Establish.) PIPER: (v.o.) Uhm ... [INT. RESTAURANT -- NIGHT] (Inside, PIPER orders dinner while SETH listens, amused.) PIPER: I'll have the salmon and fusilli with the eggplant, and could you make sure they use basil and not italian parsley? And, um, could you ask them to sauté the eggplant lightly, and also grill the salmon after the pasta is done? That way it won't dry out. Thank you. WAITER: mm-hmmm. (PIPER hands the menu back to the waiter. The waiter grabs the other menu off of the table and leaves. PIPER looks back at SETH who still has the look of amusement on his face.) PIPER: What? SETH: Nothing, I just -- I've never dated an ex-chef before. That's all. PIPER: Oh, was I being too picky? SETH: No, no. PIPER: Yeah, I was. It's -- I'm sorry. I'm just a little -- SETH: Nervous? PIPER: Is it that obvious? SETH: No, it's just -- It's my fault. This is not a very good first-date place. PIPER: (looks around the restaurant) Oh, no. No, it's fine. It's just, you know, that I haven't dated in a while. (She smiles at SETH.) SETH: How long were you -- were you married? PIPER: Two years, but we were together for four. SETH: It gets easier. I think I went on five, six dates after my divorce until finally I started feeling comfortable dating people again. PIPER: Oh. So I guess you don't mind being the guinea pig then. SETH: Not at all. (In the back of the restaurant, CHRIS orbs into the room away from everyone's view. His shirt is covered with more splotches of mud and he's definitely not dressed appropriately for the restaurant.) SETH: If you don't mind me asking, when's your divorce finalized? PIPER: My divorce? SETH: You -- you filed, right? PIPER: Um, not exactly. It's, uh ... it's kind of a weird arrangement. It's - - it's hard to explain. CHRIS PERRY: (interrupts) Piper. (PIPER turns and looks at CHRIS. SETH also turns and takes in CHRIS' appearance.) PIPER: What -- what are you doing here? Why are you covered in mud? SETH: Excuse me a second. Who is this? CHRIS PERRY: (flippantly, unapproving of SETH) Me? I'm from the future. (PIPER laughs nervously.) SETH: What? (PIPER grabs CHRIS' hand and pulls him away from the table. CHRIS glares at SETH.) PIPER: (to SETH) Excuse us. (Once they're at a safe distance away from other people, PIPER turns to CHRIS.) PIPER: Are you crazy? (CHRIS still has his eyes on SETH.) CHRIS PERRY: You're not serious about that guy, are you? (PIPER glances back at the table.) PIPER: Well, uh ... you know what? That is none of your business. (She looks at his shirt.) Where have you been? CHRIS PERRY: (rounds on her) That's none of your business. Look, you'd better get home before your sisters kill each other. PIPER: What? Why? What happened? (She gasps as she realizes.) Oh, no. Phoebe? (CHRIS nods his head, his glance again on SETH sitting at the table watching them. PIPER turns to look at SETH.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL -- NIGHT] (PAIGE walks angrily through the dining room. PHOEBE follows behind her.) PHOEBE: Paige, I said I'm sorry. What more do you want from me? PAIGE: Sorry doesn't begin to cover it. PHOEBE: Look, I was worried about you. I thought you were in trouble. PAIGE: If you were so worried, why were you at the Callaway's? PHOEBE: The spell was supposed to take me to you, not them. How was I supposed to know you were across the street? PAIGE: You weren't supposed to know because you weren't supposed to be involved. (CHRIS and PIPER orbs into the hallway.) PHOEBE: Well, it's a good thing I did get involved because obviously there's a war going on over there. PAIGE: I can handle it. PHOEBE: (looks at her shoulder wound) Oh, really? (PIPER whistles to get their attention. PHOEBE and PAIGE are both startled. They turn to look at her.) PIPER: Hi. Hey. What is this about a war? PAIGE: Ask Miss Buttinsky over there. She was with the Callaway's when they killed Richard's dad. PHOEBE: Paige, I'm telling you, they didn't kill anyone. PAIGE: I was there. PHOEBE: Yeah, so was I. (LEO steps onto the stairs, a half-filled milk bottle in his hand.) LEO: (whispers) Hey, can you guys keep it down? I just got Wyatt to sleep. PIPER: (shocked to see LEO) What are you doing here? (LEO rushes down the rest of the stairs to join them. PHOEBE pulls PAIGE and ushers everyone into the next room.) PHOEBE: Ok, in the living room. In the living room. Let's go. Let's go. (The sisters pass CHRIS.) CHRIS PERRY: Can I go now? LEO: (shakes his head) Nope. (LEO grabs CHRIS and pushes him into the next room to join the sisters.) [LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS] PHOEBE: Paige, I'm telling you the energy ball did not come from the Callaways. (PIPER takes her purse off her shoulders and settles down on the sofa.) PAIGE: I saw it come through the Callaways' window. PHOEBE: It couldn't have. PAIGE: Oh, she's not only butting in, she's taking sides. PHOEBE: It's not only what I saw, but it's what I felt. Don't you think if they just tried to kill someone, I would've felt some intense anger coming from them, but I didn't. PAIGE: (glares at PHOEBE) I don't know. Are you sensing any intense anger coming at you right now? (PHOEBE'S not going to take the bait. She sits down on the arm rest of the chair behind her.) PHOEBE: No, but what I can sense is that maybe your attraction to this Richard guy is clouding your better judgment. PAIGE: I hate talking to an empath. (PAIGE plops down in the seat nearby.) PIPER: Wait a second. Hold it. Didn't they fire on the Callaway grandmother when you got hurt? Maybe this is just retribution. PAIGE: No, Richard said his family didn't fire on them. I believe him. PHOEBE: Then where did the energy ball come from? They don't just materialize. PIPER: Maybe they do. LEO: What do you mean? (CHRIS rolls his eyes at LEO.) PIPER: Well, if Richard says it was no one in his family, maybe it was somebody else. Maybe a third party. LEO: If so, the two families need to know before this escalates any further. PIPER: You've been in both houses. Do you think you can get them to come here? PAIGE: What do you mean, like, peace talks? PIPER: Yeah. Why not? CHRIS PERRY: You've got an Elder right here. Who better to mediate? (CHRIS slaps LEO'S back.) CHRIS PERRY: (to LEO) Good luck. (CHRIS orbs out of the room. LEO glances frustratedly at the space beside him.) PHOEBE: Actually, I think this could work. PAIGE: I don't know. This feud's been going back for generations. I don't even think they know how it started. PIPER: Still, it's worth a shot. (PAIGE considers it.) CUT TO: [EXT. MOUNTAINS - DAY] (The camera moves rapidly over the mountainside.) [INT. SORCERER'S CAVE -- DAY] (CHRIS takes the Kotochul Egg out from the muddy sack. He holds it in the palm of his hand and holds it out for the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer takes the egg, admiring it.) SORCERER: Nicely done. These aren't easy to find. CHRIS PERRY: Tell me about it. How long before it's ready? SORCERER: You'll have it ... when you need it. (The SORCERER cracks the egg against the pot and empties its contents into the mixture. The mixture flares up toward the camera.) CUT TO: [EXT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - NIGHT] (Establish.) [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - STUDY -- NIGHT] (RICHARD stands near the edge of the room near the broken window. He examines a small bottle of potion in his hand. PAIGE orbs into the room behind him.) PAIGE: What are you doing? (RICHARD turns around to look at PAIGE.) RICHARD MONTANA: Paige, get out of here. It's none of your business. PAIGE: I thought you weren't using magic? RICHARD MONTANA: Oh, just save me the speech, ok, I don't need it. Go save an innocent or something. PAIGE: Yeah, I'm trying. RICHARD MONTANA: They killed my fiancée. They--they killed my dad! What do you want me to do, just sit back and watch? PAIGE: We don't know the Callaways even did it. RICHARD MONTANA: Who then? PAIGE: (shrugs) I don't know. RICHARD MONTANA: (mocks) "I don't know". Great. Just go, please. Before you get hurt. (RICHARD turns and heads for the door. PAIGE orbs out of the room. RICHARD reaches the door and opens it only to find PAIGE re-orbing just outside the door in the hallway and in his path.) PAIGE: Hi. (PAIGE steps forward. RICHARD sighs and takes a step back into the study.) PAIGE: You have two choices. (She crosses her arms determinedly in front of her.) PAIGE: Either you can go over to the Callaways and use your considerable influence, not to mention your fairly neutral reputation, and bring them to the peace table ... RICHARD MONTANA: What? PAIGE: Or I can orb your butt down to purgatory and you can spend all of eternity getting a lovely sunburn. RICHARD MONTANA: (scoffs) You're crazy. PAIGE: Quite possibly. More importantly, I'm actually serious. Look, it's the only way to end the feud. (RICHARD doesn't say anything, although PAIGE definitely has his ear.) PAIGE: (quieter) It's what Olivia would've wanted, right? (RICHARD stares at PAIGE, considering the offer seriously.) (Camera cuts to a small framed photograph of RICHARD and OLIVIA, their arms around each other. The OLIVIA figure moves and the ghostly apparition comes alive through the small picture.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - KITCHEN -- DAY] (LEO walks out of the utility room carrying the bloodied cloth in his hand. He holds it up and shows it to PIPER.) LEO: This it? PIPER: That's it. Drop it in. LEO: What are you looking for? (LEO puts the piece of bloodied cloth into the heating pot.) PIPER: I want to see if Paige was actually hit by an energy ball after all. LEO: What else could it be? PIPER: Let's see. (As PIPER stirs the pot, LEO takes a deep breath and turns the conversation to other matters. He walks around PIPER.) LEO: So, um ... how was your date? (beat) PIPER: Short. LEO: Oh, really? Sorry. LEO: (teasing, hopeful) Short. You mean like ... leprechaun short? PIPER: (amused) No, Leo, he wasn't short. The date was cut short by this. LEO: (sighs with understanding) Oh, right. Sorry. (LEO again moves to around the table. He clears his throat.) LEO: So, uh ... don't you think you should use protection? (PIPER looks up from her cooking pot, her eyes opening wide and jaw dropping at the turn of the question.) (LEO motions with his hands, pointing to the pot in front of PIPER.) LEO: I mean for your hands, the soup? PIPER: Ok. LEO: Look, I know this is awkward me being here and all. PIPER: (glancing at the pot) It's just as I suspected. LEO: (defensive) What does that mean? PIPER: Not you, the pan. Keep up, will ya? Her shirt, it's getting lighter. Which means Paige was not hit by an energy ball. She was hit by a plasma ball. LEO: Plasma? PIPER: And plasma only occurs on the spiritual plane. (LEO and PIPER quiet and think about the implications of this new piece of information.) (PHOEBE walks into the kitchen.) PHOEBE: Ok! They're all here, and these people are in major need of peace talks. PIPER: Actually, what they need is a séance. (PIPER puts her tongs aside and heads for the next room. LEO follows her.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT] (JAMES CALLAWAY questions PIPER who is holding a couple of thick red candles in her hands.) JAMES CALLAWAY: You think a ghost is trying to break the truce? PIPER: An angry relative, maybe? You know, someone who's still tethered to the feud, someone who can't or won't let go. (PIPER walks away and heads for the table. PAIGE whispers to PIPER.) PAIGE: Why didn't you tell me about this? PIPER: No time, sorry. STEVE MONTANA: This is ridiculous. It's just another one of their tricks. (STEVE turns away. RICHARD tries to calm him down.) RICHARD MONTANA: No, it's not. I asked them to come. Just let it play out, all right? (PIPER turns everyone's attention back to the matter at hand. She lights the candles on the table.) PIPER: By summoning the spirit, we bring them into our plane, so be careful not to break the circle until we've helped it move on ... or else we're gonna have some angry spirits running amuck. (Off screen, we hear PHOEBE chanting loudly.) PIPER: Everybody ready? (Everyone slowly gathers around the table. Off to the side, PHOEBE has her fingertips pressed against her forehead and temple as she chants loudly.) PIPER: Phoebe? PHOEBE: (startled) Ohh. Sorry. (PHOEBE heads for the center table also.) PHOEBE: It's just this -- everybody's like -- whoo. (She takes her position between PIPER and PAIGE. RICHARD slowly stands in the position next to PAIGE, their hands clasped together.) (The rest of the group steps forward to form a circle. JAMES holds his hand out for ROSALINE who takes it. They glance apprehensively at each other.) (Once the circle is formed, PIPER cues PAIGE.) PIPER: Paige? PAIGE: (recites) Unknown spirit, we call to thee Those who wish to set you free. Cross on over, so we may help. Come to us. Reveal yourself. (A strong gust of wind blows outward from the center of the circle. It startles everyone, but PIPER reminds them to keep the circle closed.) PIPER: Hold on. (The swirl of wind gets stronger and stronger. Finally, the ghostly apparition of OLIVIA CALLAWAY appears in the center. She looks down at her family.) JAMES CALLAWAY: Olivia. OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Hello, daddy. Miss me? (OLIVIA turns around and sets her gaze on RICHARD. She smiles at him.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Richard. (RICHARD doesn't say anything.) JAMES CALLAWAY: I don't understand. You attacked us. Why? (OLIVIA whirls around to face her father.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: (angry) Because you didn't avenge my death, that's why. ROSALINE MONTANA: But you were hit by one of your own. OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Or so you were led to think, but that's not exactly true ... (OLIVIA whirls around to look at STEVE MONTANA.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Is it, Steve? (STEVE doesn't say anything. RICHARD glances at STEVE who turns and look over at JAMES.) STEVE MONTANA: It was an accident. CRAIG MONTANA: We were set up. (JAMES turns to look at ROSALINE who can't meet his gaze. Suddenly JAMES holds up their hands, his grip firm on ROSALINE'S.) PAIGE: (warning) Ok. Don't break the chain. (OLIVIA whirls accusingly at PAIGE.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: No, we wouldn't want that now, would we, Paige? (PHOEBE leans over toward PIPER.) PHOEBE: Ok. We have to move this along now, because--whoo. RICHARD MONTANA: (shakes his head in denial) This can't be right. That can't be you. (OLIVIA turns around to look at RICHARD.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: I was wrong about the feud, Richard. It can never end. I know that now ... but that doesn't mean we can't still be together ... once I have my revenge! (In a swirls of white smoke, OLIVIA disappears and sends a force out from within. The force wave catches everyone off guard and pushes them back, breaking the chain and blowing out the candles.) (ROSALINE falls back against the table behind her. Everyone looks around at each other.) (JAMES looks at ROSALINE.) JAMES CALLAWAY: (accusingly) Your son killed my daughter. ROSALINE MONTANA: And your daughter killed my husband. (JAMES has had enough. He motions to his sons, turns and heads for the doorway. ) JAMES CALLAWAY: Come on. (The Callaway clan walks out of the attic.) (ROSALINE looks quietly at RICHARD who turns to look at PAIGE.) (ROSALINE walks out of the room. STEVE glances up at RICHARD, then follows her out. RICHARD, too, backs away from them, and turns to leave the room.) PAIGE: Richard, don't go. (RICHARD ignores PAIGE and walks out of the attic with his family. PAIGE angrily turns and looks at PHOEBE.) PAIGE: Ok, next time I tell you to butt out, butt out. (PAIGE leaves the attic to chase after RICHARD.) PAIGE: Richard, wait! (PHOEBE and PIPER stay behind. LEO watches the sisters.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - HALLWAY - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (PAIGE rushes down the attic stairs to catch up with RICHARD. OLIVIA CALLAWAY materializes in front of PAIGE.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY: Why don't we go after Richard together? (PAIGE stops when she sees OLIVIA. In that moment, OLIVIA merges with PAIGE and occupies her body. PAIGE glows for a moment, doubles over slightly and clutches her stomach when OLIVIA takes over.) (It only takes a moment, then PAIGE is fine ... or rather, OLIVIA is now in PAIGE'S body.) (Content, OLIVIA glances around, then turns slowly to look for RICHARD.) (Camera holds on PAIGE'S figure retreating down the hallway.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. MANOR - NIGHT] (Establish.) [INT. MANOR - KITCHEN - NIGHT] (PIPER has the Book of Shadows open in the kitchen. She glances at it and turns toward the counter. PHOEBE walks into the kitchen.) PHOEBE: Hey. What are you doing? Making soup? (PHOEBE takes a seat at the table. PIPER turns around back to her pot.) PIPER: Um, not exactly. (PHOEBE glances at the book and reads the position for BANISHING A GHOST.) PHOEBE: "Banishing a ghost." Wait a minute. I thought we weren't going to try and help Paige anymore. PIPER: We're not. We're "assisting". PHOEBE: Oh, we're "assisting". PIPER: Mm-hmm. We're just giving her a little ammo should she need it. You know, that was one really pissed-off ghost. PHOEBE: That was also one very pissed-off sister. PIPER: Which is why we are not helping her, not directly. We're just giving her an option. (PHOEBE studies PIPER.) [CUE SOUND: EMPATH ABILITY] (PIPER stops and looks at PHOEBE.) PHOEBE: You're worried. PIPER: So? PHOEBE: So, you can actually worry and, really, you're just worried. Whereas if I worry, people think that I'm psychically intruding. PIPER: Precisely. (That stops PHOEBE.) Now, I need to call Leo so he can baby-sit. (PIPER turns to leave the room.) PHOEBE: (offers) I can call him if you want me to. (PIPER stops and looks at PHOEBE, then continues to head out of the room.) PHOEBE: (muttering under her breath) I know you want me to, though. (PHOEBE gets up off her seat and follows PIPER.) CUT TO: [EXT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - NIGHT] (Establish.) [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - STUDY -- NIGHT] (RICHARD sits quietly in his father's chair behind his father's desk. OLIVIA CALLAWAY, inside PAIGE, walks through the foyer and toward the study.) (Quick flash of OLIVIA'S ghostly figure in white still inside PAIGE.) (OLIVIA/PAIGE turns and lingers in the study doorway. OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Knock, knock. RICHARD MONTANA: (doesn't look up) You ever give up? OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Never. Penny for your thoughts. (RICHARD looks up at OLIVIA/PAIGE. She looks at him and shakes her head.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): What? RICHARD MONTANA: Olivia used to say that. OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): (realizes her slip) Oh. I should be more careful. (OLIVIA/PAIGE walks into the study.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): It must have been hard ... seeing her again after all that time. RICHARD MONTANA: Yeah. She just seems so bitter, you know? OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Bitter? She wasn't bitter. She was pissed. (RICHARD looks up, a bit startled at PAIGE'S assessment.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): (amends) I mean, I would be if I lost everything. RICAHRD MONTANA: It just wasn't like her. OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Well, maybe she was lonely. Maybe she was just reaching out, and maybe she just wants some justice. RICHARD MONTANA: Justice? She wants revenge. (RICHARD stands up and walks over to the open drawers with the potions inside. He looks at the various bottles, his back to OLIVIA/PAIGE.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): There's something to be said for revenge. RICHARD MONTANA: Weren't you the one advocating peace? You said you'd send me to purgatory if I didn't agree. (She laughs as she moves closer to him.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Well, a girl's allowed to change her mind, right? And if Olivia's right, then the feud can't be stopped. Then the last man standing wins. Besides, I'll be there. You won't be alone. RICHARD MONTANA: Why are you doing this? OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Because it's the right thing to do. (OLIVIA/PAIGE runs her hand up RICHARD'S arm and lingers at his shoulder. RICHARD turns around to look at OLIVIA/PAIGE.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Together, we can't lose. (He leans forward and they kiss. He wraps his arms around her.) (Camera lingers on the framed photograph of OLIVIA and RICHARD.) CUT TO: [INT. SORCERER'S CAVE -- DAY] (Close up of the Sorcerer filling up the vial with the blood-red liquid color potion as CHRIS watches carefully.) CHRIS PERRY: Are you sure this is gonna work? SORCERER: As long as it doesn't make you violently ill. (CHRIS stands up from his kneeling position next to the counter and looks at the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer stops and glances up at CHRIS.) SORCERER: (matter of factly) Side effects. You never know. CHRIS PERRY: (sighs) Thanks for the tip. SORCERER: You sure it's worth the risk? CHRIS PERRY: I wouldn't be here if it wasn't. (The SORCERER gives the vial to CHRIS who turns and steps away from the counter, the potion in his hand.) SORCERER: He won't tell me. CHRIS PERRY: Tell you what? LEO: (echoing) What you need the potion for. (Surprised by the sound of the voice, CHRIS whirls around to see LEO materialize out from his invisible form.) LEO: Other than to hide your secrets, that is. (LEO steps forward.) CHRIS PERRY: What? This was all a set-up? This isn't even legit? SORCERER: It's legit, all right, but I'm afraid you have to answer to a higher power now. (The SORCERER indicates LEO and backs away from his position between the two Whitelighters.) CHRIS PERRY: Go ahead, take it. (CHRIS casually, carelessly tosses the vial at LEO.) CHRIS PERRY: It wasn't for me anyway. LEO: Really? CHRIS PERRY: I got it for the sisters. Phoebe's new power is wreaking havoc on their relationship, or haven't you noticed? LEO: You expect me to believe this wasn't meant to protect your secrets? CHRIS PERRY: No, I don't, but seeing as how you haven't figured me out yet, why would I even need it? LEO: Don't get too cocky, kid. Wouldn't want me to clip your wings, now, would you? [CUE SOUND: ELDERS' JINGLE] CHRIS PERRY: (glances up) Oops. Looks like Wyatt needs another baby-sitter ... dad. (LEO fingers the potion, then orbs out of the cave.) (As soon as he's gone, CHRIS claps his hands together.) CHRIS PERRY: (to the SORCERER) All right. How fast can you make another one? (The SORCERER glances up and looks at CHRIS.) CUT TO: [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - STUDY -- NIGHT] (Close up of a green poison in a corked vial.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): (quietly urging) Take it. (Camera pulls back and we see RICHARD looking at the vial.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Don't be afraid. You can do it. (A loud explosion interrupts them. STEVE runs up to the doorway and shouts a warning.) STEVE MONTANA: They're attacking! (RICHARD glances at OLIVIA/PAIGE, then grabs the vial as he heads out of the study.) [FOYER/MAIN HALL -- CONTINUOUS] (JAMES CALLAWAY and his two sons run into the MONTANA home.) (STEVE MONTANA runs out of the room and throws the potion at the intruders. It bursts into a flash of white light as it hits the wall.) (One of the CALLAWAY SONS powers up an energy ball and hurls it at STEVE. It just misses him as he turns and falls to the floor. The energy ball hits the door frame behind him.) (RICHARD runs out of the study into the main hall.) (JAMES CALLAWAY sees RICHARD and he dives for cover behind the counter. RICHARD throws the potion at him and hits HIS SON square in the chest. He flies up and backward, hitting the wall behind him. He falls down to the floor.) (RICHARD reaches down to help STEVE up to his feet and to safety.) (JAMES CALLAWAY stands up and sees his son down on the floor. He turns and sees RICHARD and STEVE trying to make it across the hallway. He powers up an energy ball and hurls it at them. They both dive to the floor and the energy ball hits the television set behind them.) (RICHARD gets up to his feet and moves out of the hallway leaving STEVE behind. STEVE gets up and grabs his wounded leg in pain.) CUT TO: [EXT. STREET OUTSIDE MONTANA RESIDENCE - NIGHT] (PHOEBE pulls into the driveway. From outside, we can see the lights flashing inside the house.) (PHOEBE and PIPER both look at the house and know the battle that's going on inside. Their jaws drop.) PIPER: Oh! PHOEBE: (unbuckling her seat belt) Think she needs help now? (They both look up and sees the front door open.) (PIPER opens the car door and gets out of the car.) CUT TO: [INT. MONTANA RESIDENCE - MAIN HALL - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS] (RICHARD reaches for vial after vial from the tray and hurls it at the intruders inside his house. The vials break and explode sending yet another CALLAWAY SON up and against the wall behind him. He falls to the floor.) (JAMES CALLAWAY gets to his feet.) (He turns and looks at RICHARD. Behind RICHARD, ROSALINE MONTANA walks out of the room and into the hallway to help STEVE who is still on the floor.) (JAMES CALLAWAY powers up another energy ball and pulls back to throw it. He hurls the ball and hits unsuspecting ROSALINE in the chest. She falls down to the hallway floor.) STEVE MONTANA: (screams) Mom! (RICHARD turns around and sees his mom face down and unmoving on the hallway floor.) (He turns back and looks at JAMES CALLAWAY. He holds out his hand and forms an energy ball in his palm. With as much anger and force as he can muster, RICHARD hurls the energy ball at JAMES.) (Mid-way flight, the energy ball explodes. Standing down the hallway, PIPER has stopped the energy ball from hitting JAMES CALLAWAY. RICHARD looks from PIPER to JAMES. JAMES also realizes at the same moment that RICHARD is defenseless. He powers up his own energy ball and throws it point blank at RICHARD hitting him square in the chest.) (RICHARD flies backward upon impact and hits the wall behind him. He slumps to the floor with a thud.) (PIPER covers her mouth in horror at what just happened.) (Behind them, ROSALINE MONTANA regains consciousness and gets up.) (OLIVIA/PAIGE runs out of the study and into the hallway. She kneels down next to RICHARD.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Richard? (OLIVIA/PAIGE rolls RICHARD over on his back and exposes the burn on his chest. RICHARD is out cold.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Richard, please wake up. (OLIVIA/PAIGE looks down at RICHARD who still doesn't move.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Richard, please wake up. It's me. It's Olivia. (PHOEBE and PIPER gasp as they realize what's really going on.) PIPER: (to PHOEBE) Oh, no. (ROSALINE sees RICHARD unconscious on the floor.) ROSALINE MONTANA: Oh! (OLIVIA/PAIGE looks up at PIPER and PHOEBE.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): If I can't have him in life, then I have him in death. (Quick flash of OLIVIA CALLAWAY'S ghostly figure inside PAIGE.) (OLIVIA/PAIGE orbs herself and RICHARD out of the room.) (PIPER, PHOEBE and JAMES CALLAWAY stare at the empty spot where PAIGE and RICHARD were.) ROSALINE MONTANA: Oh! Oh, Richard! (crying) Richard! CUT TO BLACK: (Close up of a match flaring and lighting the darkness. The match is used to light a candle's wick which lights up the dark box.) [INT. CRYPT -- NIGHT] (Inside the box, we see OLIVIA/PAIGE lying next to RICHARD who is still unconscious. She croons to RICHARD.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): It's ok. You're all right, sweetheart. We couldn't be together before ... (She caresses his cheek as he slowly regains consciousness.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): But we can be together now. (His eyes slowly open as he takes in his surroundings. RICHARD turns his head to the right and he sees OLIVIA'S skeletal remains.) (He screams.) RICHARD MONTANA: No! (The camera quickly pulls back from a CLOSE UP of RICHARD MONTANA'S open mouth, back through the closed concrete casket with "CALLAWAY" engraved on the cover ... ) PULL BACK TO: [INT. MAUSOLEUM - NIGHT] (The camera continues to pull back to show the concrete crypt in the center of an old mausoleum.) FADE OUT (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. CEMETERY - EVENING] [INT. CRYPT -- DARK] (Inside the crypt, RICHARD struggles to breathe.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): (croons) Don't fight it. Just breathe. RICHARD MONTANA: Olivia, please don't do this to me. OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): It's the only way. It's the only way we can be together. (RICHARD moves his head slightly to glance sideways at the old skeletal remains next to him.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Dying's not so hard. (He takes a deep breath.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): That's it. (As the oxygen in the crypt is depleted, the candle's light slowly fades.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Just breathe. FADE TO BLACK: [INT. MAUSOLEUM - NIGHT] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAWN] (LEO paces the attic floor as PHOEBE leans over the table and map, a crystal dangling from a chain from her fingers as she scrys for PAIGE.) (PIPER stands in front of the Book of Shadows as she looks for a spell to help them find PAIGE.) PIPER: Blood to blood, I summon thee, Blood to blood, return to me. (PHOEBE looks up hopefully at PIPER. Nothing happens. PIPER puts her hands down on the Book.) PIPER: It's not working. PHOEBE: Neither is scrying. I knew I should've followed my instincts. I knew that she was in over her head. (PIPER turns and heads for the attic window.) PIPER: (warning) Phoebe. PHOEBE: What? I know I'm driving everyone crazy with my power, but it doesn't mean I'm not right. LEO: We're all understandably tense, but that's not gonna help us get Paige back any faster. PHOEBE: Well, what is? It's like she doesn't even exist anymore. LEO: Well, that's because Olivia's energy is suppressing hers. PHOEBE: So maybe we should be scrying for Olivia, only we'd need something of hers to scry with. (And with that, the doorbell rings.) (PIPER moves toward the door, a puzzled look on her face as to who it might be.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL / FOYER - DAY] (PIPER opens the door and finds JAMES CALLAWAY and ROSALINE MONTANA on her doorstep. LEO and PHOEBE stand a distance behind PIPER.) JAMES CALLAWAY: We think we know where they are. ROSALINE MONTANA: We want to help end this before we lose anyone else. (PIPER glances back at LEO and PHOEBE. Then without another word, she motions for them to enter.) PIPER: Come on in. (ROSALINE and JAMES walk into the house. PIPER closes the door behind them.) CUT TO: [INT. MAUSOLEUM - DAY] (The CALLAWAY CRYPT explodes. Pieces of concrete and rubble fall to the floor. Once it's cleared, LEO steps forward to check the inside of the crypt.) (Inside the crypt, lying side-by-side are PAIGE and RICHARD MONTANA.) (PAIGE'S body glows white as OLIVIA CALLAWAYS' ghostly figure rises out and leaves PAIGE. She flies quickly past PIPER and PHOEBE and materializes in her apparition form high above them.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): (smugly) You're too late. LEO: No, we're not. (OLIVIA's eyes widen as she sees PAIGE get up from the crypt. LEO turns around to help her out.) LEO: Paige? PAIGE: I'm ok. (PAIGE stands up and with LEO'S assistance, she climbs out of the crypt. OLIVIA powers up a plasma ball in the palm of her hand.) (PIPER waves her hand and blows up the plasma ball before she can even throw it.) PIPER: Phoebe, the potion. PAIGE: You don't need to banish her. (PAIGE steps forward toward OLIVIA.) PAIGE: No. You felt her anger, but I felt her pain. (PAIGE looks up at OLIVIA.) PAIGE: I know how much you loved him, how much it hurts to have lost him, but you have to let him live. It's the only way for you to move on and get out of limbo. Olivia, please, come away from vengeance and come back to forgiveness, back to who you were. Just let the feud end with life and not with death. (RICHARD takes a deep breath and slowly regains consciousness. He opens his eyes and sees OLIVIA floating high above.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): I'm scared. PAIGE: (nods) I know. (OLIVIA looks longingly, lovingly at RICHARD.) OLIVIA CALLAWAY (IN PAIGE): Forgive me. (With a final glance at him, OLIVIA turns her eyes upward and closes them. She immediately blurs, glows white and rises upward through the ceiling and out of the mausoleum.) (OLIVIA leaves.) (Everyone stands there quietly for a moment, looking at PAIGE.) (PAIGE takes a deep breath and turns around.) (Camera holds on RICHARD looking at PAIGE.) CUT TO: [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO CITY (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. HALIWELL MANOR - DAY] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (The attic door handle jiggles.) PAIGE: (through the door) Come on, Phoebe. You can't stay in there forever. (PHOEBE sits alone in the attic, a hand to her head, pen in hand as she works on a spell to control her empathy abilities.) PHOEBE: Yes, I can. PIPER: (through the door) Phoebe, this is nuts. Open the door! PHOEBE: (flatly) No. ALL: (muttering through the door) Phoebe, come on. Open the door! (They start pounding on the door. PHOEBE finishes yet another spell and lifts up the writing notebook.) PHOEBE: Ok, let's see if this one works. (reading) In the name of the Halliwell line, bar my sister from this power of mine. [CUE SOUND: MAGIC] (The pounding on the door stops. PHOEBE frustratedly puts the notebook down and turns to yell at the door.) PHOEBE: It's not working! I can still feel your frustration. I don't know what else to do. (PAIGE, PIPER and CHRIS orb into the attic.) PHOEBE: (to the door) I've tried everything. PAIGE: Hi! (PHOEBE is startled and turns around to find CHRIS, PIPER and PAIGE standing in the middle of the attic.) PHOEBE: Oh! You know, people lock doors for a reason. (CHRIS calmly walks away from the group and sits down on the couch in the back.) PAIGE: Yes, well, I figure if you can use your powers to intrude on my life, then I can use mine to intrude on yours. PIPER: Come on, Phoebe, none of us like this new power of yours any more than you do, but it's pointless to isolate yourself. PHOEBE: Well, if I can't read you, I can't hurt you. PAIGE: Well, how about instead of trying to control your power, maybe you try to, I don't know, control yourself? PHOEBE: Because, Paige, I can't, and I can sense how annoyed you are right now, and that's hurting me. PAIGE: Well, what's annoying is that I discovered that I had this Magical Destiny and I can't trust you to leave me alone for me to even follow it. PHOEBE: What do you think I'm trying to do up here? PIPER: Ok, let's look at the bright side. We settled a family feud, we set free a tortured soul. Maybe your new power and Paige's new solo path away from the sisterhood is some kind of synergy, that it's all working together kind of divine way. PHOEBE: Nah. PAIGE: Nah. CHRIS: (stands up) I don't get it. Leo didn't give you the empathy blocking potion? PIPER: What potion? PHOEBE: Wha -- PIPER: Leo! (LEO orbs into the attic.) PIPER: Where is it? PHOEBE: (motions) Gimme, gimme! Gimme, gimme! Gimme! Faster! PIPER: Come on, come on, come on! CHRIS PERRY: They're really anxious about that potion you got for them. LEO: (looks at PHOEBE) Yeah. Only I think you should wait to take it. Phoebe was given her power for a reason. PHOEBE: Forget that! (PIPER glares at LEO and motions for him to hand over the potion.) (LEO hands the potion to PIPER. She uncaps it.) (CHRIS glances over at LEO who angrily glares back at him.) (PIPER drinks the potion. She hands the vial to PAIGE who also drinks the potion.) (PHOEBE looks at them. PIPER and PAIGE look back at PHOEBE.) PHOEBE: (smiling) Nothing. Nada. Zilch! (She raises her arms high in triumph.) PAIGE: (looks heavenward) Yes. PIPER: Hallelujah. (CHRIS looks extremely relieved that the potion worked.) (PAIGE heads out of the attic.) PAIGE: Well, I have to go finish a game of pinochle with Grandma Callaway. PHOEBE: Maybe you'll run into Richard. PAIGE: I'm sorry? PHOEBE: That was a sister thing, not an empath thing. (PHOEBE stands up and pulls PAIGE toward the attic door.) PHOEBE: (to PAIGE) Come on. (LEO doesn't say anything. He looks at CHRIS. CHRIS turns and questions PIPER.) CHRIS PERRY: So, it worked, right? I mean, no nausea, no queasiness? Nothing like that? PIPER: Nope. Nothing. (PIPER leaves the attic.) CHRIS PERRY: (to LEO) Well, it looks like we're one big happy family again. LEO: You're not family. (LEO leaves the attic.) (Once LEO is gone, CHRIS reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out the other vial of potion. Confident that it'll work on him, he drinks it.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - UPSTAIRS HALLWAY - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (PIPER walks past the open door. LEO catches up with her and calls out to her. She turns around.) LEO: Piper! PIPER: Hmm? LEO: I, uh, I want to apologize. PIPER: For what? LEO: For, uh, being ... around so much. I know you asked for your space, and I want to honor that, but it's just with Chris, I -- PIPER: Yeah. No. I understand. I'm not upset. LEO: Good. PIPER: Actually, I don't really think it's necessary anymore. Besides, I can't really think of a better baby-sitter for Wyatt than his Daddy. LEO: (smiles) Really? Anytime. PIPER: I know this hasn't been easy for you either, but I really appreciate it. It's, um given me some time to think. LEO: About? PIPER: About where we go from here. And I think it's time maybe we make it official. You know, legal. (The phone rings.) LEO: Oh. I understand. PHOEBE: Piper! Seth's on the phone. (LEO glances away from PIPER, feeling a little more than hurt and trying not to.) LEO: Heh! Guess you better get that. PIPER: Yeah. (PIPER nods, then turns and leaves LEO standing there. She heads for the bedroom and turns around to glance back at LEO. She walks into the bedroom and closes the door behind her.) (Camera holds on LEO as he looks around. He bows his head dejectedly as the camera pulls back on his lonely figure.)
